Especially since its target market were outdoorsy and would want to use it where even keeping a Bluetooth signal would be dicey, let alone a Wi-Fi connection.
No kidding. Ignoring the security concerns, not all wifi connections are created equal, and even good wifi can be disrupted by environmental factors, let alone bad wifi. If there isn't at least an option for offline local Bluetooth or RF connection to use when wifi isn't available, or even better, if that's not the default option with wifi connectivity for cloud syncing being the secondary option, then I'm going to have to think long and hard about what the tech is promising to do versus what it can deliver and/or what the developers are doing without our knowledge.
Yeah, some of it's traits probably should have required a separate battery-powered processing unit (which would have been a better place for the SD card holder...), but only the most advanced features should have needed an internet connection.
Sorry, but that's crap. I, for instance, got a peacemaker implanted which has to always be connected to the manufacturer's cloud service. What can I say - it's been working without any prob--------------..........
Electrolytic plating line operator here, our company manufactured a lot of these PCBs. I remember plating loads of them. First runs we sent out had various solder mask colours, noting which revision of prototype they were. I think it was white first, then black, then red & some blue. We even had to tell them that what they were asking for wasn't achievable with their design of the PCBs the way they were...whole thing was a farce, the company got all the money back through insurance...
I started getting into racing drones not long before that was announced, so was in the middle of my typically obsessive learning for new hobbies, so yeah I knew early on how far their claims were from reality.
Their "good intentions" are equally bullshit when the two creators bought BMW's before they had a functioning product and stole attention away from actual functioning products (seriously, people, you'd rather throw money at a product that hasn't even been seen functioning at the one event meant to show off tech goods, just because of what the creators CLAIM it can do, rather than actual, functioning drones at CES? 🤦🏾♀️). To the ones who bought the shambles of Zano and actually had a functioning product from the start, you go, guys! It's the perfect middle finger. I wouldn't even do anything with the Zano name, except to maybe put it on blast of its utter failure. But having the name keeps it from being able to be used again, which means having to rebrand if they want to run another scam.
Yeah I get he said it sounds like the Extreme Flyers team gave Zano the middle finger by buying their share at the end and making working drones with lower specs that were more based in reality of what could be accomplished in such a small package but them losing that event that year to something that was just making promises was a much bigger middle finger. Especially when they had the technical knowhow to understand that what they were promising was most likely bullshit for what was possible vs gravity with a flying gadget. That would have been such a huge boost for their company to win that year but it's hard to tell what else was at the expo too. They could have still lost to something else I mean it isn't like it was said they got 2nd place but winning would've been so much good publicity for a company that understood how flying things worked.
For another massive kickstarter fail for drones the FPV Lunchbox. It shipped late with the main feature not working properly. They stole a mod I made and claimed they worked months on getting the software working. Eventually the guy just disappeared from the community.
I always love watching these sort of things just to see how ridiculous the claims can get and how unrealistic they are but still receive multiple times their requested goals yet still deliver nothing

They didn’t know what they were doing and probably shouldn’t have tried in the first place. The lying puts them in the Amico category, which isn’t a good place to be.
They needed to learn to walk before jumping off the cliff. "Kickstarter had to hire investigators to determine if this project was a scam. Was it?" Title of the video and thumbnail call it a scam in a series called Kickscammers. "I'm not gonna tell you yet!" Yeah, you got us on the edge of our seats on that one.
Well, the original footage was blatantly faked, proving they never had a working prototype, which is required when you open a technology project on Kickstarter. So regardless of the company's intentions, it absolutely was a scam, they lied that they could do something they were just hoping they'd someday figure out. They didn't intend to steal people's money, sure, but they went into it unable to fulfill the promises they were making and just crossing their fingers and hoping with the money they'd get it done so no one would figure it out. This is one of those cases where intention really isn't as important as what they did, and they DID lie about what they had and could do.
Except for publishers who do use them to see if there is enough interest in a book or magazine too see if it is worth producing. I get the ZZAP and CRASH annuals off it these days. Knock! old school RPG magazine was cool
Anyone who has ever flown a cheap, small drone knows this thing was impossible. The footage they showed as coming from the drone was so obviously faked with a shaky hand-cam or from a much larger/higher quality unit. 😆
It just goes to show that CES accolades mean nothing since you can just talk about a product with no working demo and win best of show. Meanwhile the competitor had a working unit and was dismissed. Shame.
I wonder if website pre-orders have some sort of legal protection that Kickstarter backers don't, hence why it's so common for them to receive products first?
While I'm sure (or at least I _hope)_ there were strict safety guidelines and restrictions in place for that, I do agree that flying footage felt uncomfortably dangerous.
Maybe not, but I'd want to still see a drone hover above the crowds and zip back and forth above everyone. If you can't showcase what it can do, then bringing it to a tech show is pointless.
In some countries, people in that convention could actually sue the operator for endangering their health. Unless they had to sign a paper that they consent to drones flying over them to be able to enter the convention, which, for a drone convention, would likely be the case.
I know the feeling of never wanting to use kickstarter. I backed what seemed like a scam on hindsight. They said everything was ready to go. Then suddenly after 90 days they said needed to go back to prototype stage. My first(and last) backed "big" kickstarter campaign, should have just flush the money down the toilet. After the bankruptcy things got very toxic on KS, and KS response was quite baffling(no refunds, if you initiate charge back, you get banned from KS, zero help at all).
I always love the excuses companies give for the problems with their product to attempt at a positive pr comment. If the reasons for not flying the drone at the show being military related then why is it even being shown to the average consumer to be sold? Don't military tech usually get shown to the government officials in charge of military contracts only? Honestly asking. And I love how EF got the last laugh. EF might actually use the failed Zano drone campaign as a marketing stunt to reclaim their losses. If they're smart they would fix the drones and give the working drones to the original backers of the Zano campaign. Shows good faith on their end. It also shows EF knows how to market a successful working project multiple times as a company looking to grow. This way when the drones end up on the market they can get positive reviews by people like the news media saying the company is legitimate and is all about the customer. Then people are more likely to purchase the working product.
Why would you make a drone that needs to connect to a server, a server that can fail/be shut-down? There has to be someone that hacked it to work off-line.
Testface 2 or Betaface as some call it as you leterally are bug testing, is a major unavoidable part of any major scale production be it electronics , cars , food etc, it is literally used to make sure your products do not fail on an unacceptable level , and to weed out bugs, as we all know nothing is perfect so most companies accept a sucessrate of 88% or over.
I do allot I mean ALLOT of shows like CES and I can say this... yes the wifi is rubbish at Tradeshows... but I have seen drones up several times... heck we had DJI at the last one and they fly an Avita indoors...so not a valid excuse but the one semi credible one they had.
Seems quite odd to me that someone who has a primary series dedicated to internet scams seems to have been quite manipulated by what has apparently been exposed as a scam long ago.
That stupid led grid display was too heavy and a flashy stupid idea. They even used old, cheap heavy "bulb style" leds, with the big plastic housing instead of the much smaller and lighter COB (chip on board) flat style leds.
When finances kept them from completing things and conducting more R&D, they didn't sell back the fancy BMW's though, now did they? That's what you buy AFTER your product is a success and everyone is happy. I can't trust the claims of "We did everything we could to save the project!" when that's what they spent the backers money on.
Don't people say the road to hell is paved with good intentions? Or maybe is a mistranslation, but seriously even though people make projects with all their good intentions, even though it's because of lack of experience or mistake, not delivering on your promises to your investors is equally scammy, especially if you suddenly appear one day driving a new beemer without even have sold a single unit of your promised products
There is actually a legitimate reason why they couldn't demonstrate it flying. It is strictly prohibited to fly any unmanned vehicle near other people in public. You need a license to do that. That being said, they're still full of garbage.
I’ve always loved your videos man been following you since you were with Larry Bundy Junior but lost a lot of respect for you after the whole Amico bs. I’m glad you said you’re not an investor but your actions are very SUS. Slopes and the man I was gonna start watching your videos enjoy them but not hit the like button or make comments. However, i’m too big a goddamn fan to actually do that, please slopes restore everyone’s faith and do an honest critical Amico SCAMMER video.
Still surprised people are still willing to throw money to people on GoFundMe indiegogo and Kickstarter.. Even with all the massive evidence of con artists kind of ruling the give me money and I'll make this scenario. And yet nobody's learned a lesson.. Don't give money to people who don't have a product to produce.. An actual evidence of that product working. Pretty much should be a given..
This time, it really seemed there was a functioning product, but the item not working at the convention should've been where the alarm bells were really ringing. I don't think I've ever heard of a product that didn't or barely worked at something like CES went on to do massively well afterwards. Usually flops at conventions are a sign that the item is truly a dud.
Yeah still they have a function product that fell flat.. Almost like every other Kickstarter in the Go-Go or GoFundMe products.. Great idea that never achieved that hype.. Without the fact checking behind this drone.. With people still give the money? I would think consumers beware there's always someone or people willing to take your money without any question.. Because you're going to give them because why not.. Without question.. That's definitely con artist territory.
Could tell the drone was either a ripoff for the price or simply wouldn't work properly when I saw the first image... Seriously? Flying over the sea taking videos with direct drive brushed motors of that size? Naaaaa

I do allot I mean ALLOT of shows like CES and I can say this... yes the wifi is rubbish at Tradeshows... but I have seen drones up several times... heck we had DJI at the last one and they fly an Avita indoors...so not a valid excuse but the one semi credible one they had.
Hell yeah brother !
Is that an Offspring vinyl player Daniel?
Just showing off my badge.
This is why I rather pay double for a launched product than "kickstart" anything, even at a discount.
15:24 an animation of what would eventually happen to your drone. Lol 😅
Hmm 🤔 intrigue has started
Intellivision Amico Kickscammers incoming surely?
Seems quite odd to me that someone who has a primary series dedicated to internet scams seems to have been quite manipulated by what has apparently been exposed as a scam long ago.
That stupid led grid display was too heavy and a flashy stupid idea. They even used old, cheap heavy "bulb style" leds, with the big plastic housing instead of the much smaller and lighter COB (chip on board) flat style leds.
How could anyone believe all the claims they made that the drone could do.....?!
Fly upside down with brushed motors AND standard MONO DIRECTIONAL props. Liars :) lol
Why do people keep donating after they reach the goal? I know you get early perks but goddamn, seems like you're asking for trouble.
shoutout to whoever made the stock footage of the bitcoin dollar being burned
Extreme Flyers had the last laugh
At least they actually tried in this Kickstarter unlike some of them they really did try.....
When finances kept them from completing things and conducting more R&D, they didn't sell back the fancy BMW's though, now did they? That's what you buy AFTER your product is a success and everyone is happy. I can't trust the claims of "We did everything we could to save the project!" when that's what they spent the backers money on.
I'm looking forward to the upcoming Intellivision Amico Kickscammer video.
Sloooooope, I have a question for you as an eng language learner. You speak with a British accent, right?
I see slopes, I click.....
Don't people say the road to hell is paved with good intentions? Or maybe is a mistranslation, but seriously even though people make projects with all their good intentions, even though it's because of lack of experience or mistake, not delivering on your promises to your investors is equally scammy, especially if you suddenly appear one day driving a new beemer without even have sold a single unit of your promised products
wow why didn't they just use your phone instead of drmc like server ? it just asked for that problem from day 1
Underwear gnome plan in practice?
Step one, DRONE'S
Step two, .......
Step three, PROFIT!
The case needed to be omitted
That Cuphead music gave me PTSD
Were the leads on this even engineers or just "people that like drones"?
they're the ones working on it how u not see trouble coming?
Cmon haxxorz, make this live again. Server etc etc
Cool...now do the amico
If the presenters declined flying the drones during CES for various reasons...then why sell it?
Dji air 2 already fulfills the feature set and then some.
There is actually a legitimate reason why they couldn't demonstrate it flying. It is strictly prohibited to fly any unmanned vehicle near other people in public. You need a license to do that. That being said, they're still full of garbage.
Always online sounds like the original Xbox One
oooh you can turn it into a 4 points at once Tattoo gun!
Wow this video is surprisingly better and enjoyable.
Though not a scam this time...
so if you want a drone... what one should you get?
Dji anything
Who is Slope?
What a piece of garbitch. But I would love a drone this size that flies for hours and shoots 1080p video!
My view don't believe the hype check your facts..
If it's too good to be true.. definitely a con..
And then a fool and their money will soon part ways..
BT Burnham..
I love your content. Keep up the great work! Finally became a member too!
Could tell the drone was either a ripoff for the price or simply wouldn't work properly when I saw the first image... Seriously? Flying over the sea taking videos with direct drive brushed motors of that size? Naaaaa
