  • Browning re-engineered the 1911 to optimize the 22 LR Caliber and dropped the size down to 85% of the original Government Model. Very reliable and fun to shoot with the classic 1911 design.
    ***All shooting was performed at a professional range following all safety protocols

    I bought one for my wife as a new shooter. She took her first introduction class and received the gun as a gift, I thought she was going to cry for joy. We have shot all brands of ammunition without any problem,. I’ve had a lot of fun shooting this gun also. Thanks for making the video. Love your information videos.

      I used to own a small 1911 style Llama pistol also in 22 LR with a ventilated rib. It was quite reliable and accurate for plinking fun. I will definitely buy the Browning next month.

    American Tactical GSG 1911-22 is a great quality gun usually around $299 new (got mine for $239 😉) and used to be branded as a Sig Sauer, just changed the name and dropped the price but shoots incredibly well. I’ve shot a bunch of cheap bulk ammo and had zero issues with it so far! 😉

    I just took mine completely apart and am amazed how much all the little parts are like an original 1911. All except for the white plastic recoil spring rod and no tilting barrel, no “barrel link”, the hole for the slide stop is just part of the bottom of the barrel. The frame parts are all cute little 1911 part and function the same way. It’s a great little gun. I’m glade I found a used one for half off. The price of a new one is my only complaint. But it is reliable(mine is) where a lot of 22 autos this size are not.

    This is my very first pistol and I'm glad I got this one first. It prepared me for my second pistol which is a 9mm caliber (also a 1911 government style). Of course, this Browning is more fun than the 9mm because of the very low recoil. :)

    I am addicted to 1911s and own a dozen different models. So I chose this 1911-22 and the 1911-380 version to teach my grandkids to shoot. I can then move them onto other calibers and sizes of 1911s. I have the Sig model you displayed as well but the Brownings are a good introductory firearm. Good review as always.

      I'm aware. I bought this as my first firearm ever. Unfortunately I haven't gotten the chance to take it to the range as California has really stupid gun laws. They require you to carry it in the trunk of a car but I don't even own a car so I'm sort of screwed.

    I received a Llama .380 in 1968 when I graduated L.A. Sheriff's Academy and carried it as my 'primary' backup (with a .25 ACP Colt Jr. in my back pocket as my secondary backup).
    The Llama and interestingly enough the .380 ACP are also some where around 75 % to 85% of a 1911 Colt; and although I've always enjoyed the quality and feel of the Llama, I've tried to locate one in .22 LR but with no luck until now, so if I can find either a GSG-22 or a Compact .22 Browning I will probably pick it up to practice with since it's more economical to shoot.

    I have a GSG 1911-22 and I love it. I also like my Ruger SR-22,1022's and GSG-522. Having acquired more than 11,000 rounds of 22lr when .22 was cheap and available I can still practice with this caliber without depleting my stores of center fire ammunition. As a side note I have got a merger store of .22 air rifle ammunition for my non-scary non-assault air rifle AND a few hundred rounds of 1/2 inch slingshot ammo. At 76 years of age, I am not using my compound bow because I do not have the arm strength anymore but I keep it for my children....just in case !

    The 1911 22 LR is a fun gun. The Buckmark is a great pistol, and if you can find an old 90's Micro Buckmark you will find a real gem.

      I bought my Browning 1911-22 on February 23rd and a Buckmark on March 28th ('21). Turns out is a discontinued '95 Buckmark Micro Plus Pro Target. So its a 4" slab sided barrel, gold trigger, wood grips, adjustable irons. If that's what you're talking about, i DEFINITELY agree with you. Finest one I've seen.
      I just added an OuterImpact base and YSS Micro Red Dot. Wow.
      Of my (5) .22lr pistols, the Buckmark is now my favorite.

    I got tired of the Fliers.
    So, I've started weighing out my 22 rf ammo.
    What I have found is that the heavy ones hit high and to the left and the Light ones hit low and right. By weighing, the ones in the middle shoot as well as Target ammo. I have shot 5 shot groups with all holes touching, at 50.
    Keep in mind that ALL 22rf ammo is manufactured in BULK, by automatic machines.
    F A M, 100 rds, a 1.1 grain difference from lightest to heaviest.
    I reload for 357 magnum. When my recipe calls for 5 grains that is what is used. Not 4.9 or 5.1 it's 5 grains.
    The powder charge in 22's is small as it is, and is the variable.
    Now I want to get a "Bucket of Bullets" to weigh out.
    Should be Interesting.

    Sootch, nice little postol! I've carried a 1911 for 30+ years, so this lttle pistol would feel like a toy. It is however, an excellent first gun for younger shooters, and in introduction to shooting sports. A bit pricey, if I'm honest. I've owned a GSG .22 1911 for many years now, and I absoluty love it! Great video! Stay safe.

    *Browning 1911-380*
    Surprised to find that the 1911-380 Black Label Full Size only weighs 18 oz with a 4-1/4" barrel, while the 1911-380 Black Label Compact weighs 16 oz with a 3-5/8" barrel (polymer frames). The SIG P238 (15.2 oz with a 2.7" barrel) is a terrible pocket gun compared to a small DAO revolver like the S&W 642 NO LOCK, is too small to shoot well, and has less than ideal ballistics due to the short barrel. A 1911 is a belt gun, in which case you want a decent sized grip and barrel length as on the 1911-380 series pistols, which are much easier to shoot well than a small revolver or a subcompact pistol like the P238.
    A cocked and locked 1911 is much safer gun to carry than a Glock 43 (which has way too much recoil IMO), which lacks a safety catch so is prone to ADs and NDs. There are also some very good defensive rounds in .380 ACP (notably the +P 90 gr. JHP from Buffalo Bore). I like the .45 ACP 1911, but not the weight of steel frame variants or the recoil of aluminium frame variants, while aluminum frame 9mm variants like the Springfield EMP Champion (31 oz) are much heavier. I like the 1911-380 Black Label Pro Stainless Full Size best as a bad guy can see the gun easier with the satin silver finish on the stainless steel slide (also more corrosion resistant so better for an IWB holster), and it has the full length barrel for optium ballistics and the longest sight radius (it also looks better than the Compact IMO).

    Why you dont like magazine disconnect? It's good for safety when mag is out with a round in the chamber. People often forget to check the chambered round and think of the gun as empty if the mag is out. Especially new shooters. It's just safe to have this feature as you can't fire the chambered round without the mag in the gun.

    • @jayroller7054
      @jayroller7054 3 місяці тому

      @@jayroller7054 like I said, this feature is good for beginners. Trained people will check the chamber and treat every guns as loaded, I know that. Tom Everett I held it with two fingers and never had a jam. I think she’s touching the slide stop, but she doesn’t want to practice since she has a Tanfoglio Witness in 9 mm that she’s pretty accurate with, so she’s resistant to try to move toward something that jams on her.

    I love this gun, have put about 1200 rounds of all brands and bullet kinds. Had one fte with a really old Russian ammo that came covered in wax. Besides that, this lil shooter has been as every bit reliable as my Glocks or Sigs. the sights are not for the weak of vision but this lil shooter is beyond accurate. And whoever designed the firing pin and system went above and beyond, every time that hammer drops it goes band, no matter how cheap the ammo!!! Even the failure to eject I had went bang when I shot it! This gun gives another meaning to 22lr in terms of reliability. It’s as if it had a 10lb sledgehammer behind that firing pin 😂

    I wish Browning made this 1911-22 same size as the original size of 1911.

    This is one of those "just because" guns. You know one of those guns you have just because is fun as hell to shoot and cheap being a 22.

    i saw this in my shooting magazine. i like the .22 because of pain shooting bigger caliber. i also like the idea, if you have to pull this in a defensive way, the look of a 1911 pointed at you would scare the crap out of you, at least any sane person great review, as always. when you review a weapon, i know it's legit.

    RIA makes a nice pistol similar to this in .380, all steel, around $400. This pistol reminds me of the Kimber 1911-22, though that is a full sized piece.

    I wish they retained the alloy frame for the .380 version. But the .380 came after the change-over to polymer frames, so unlike the .22 there never was an allow frame .380 Browning.

    Bought one sight unseen as it was advertised as 85% of my .45. This .22 weights 16oz and felt like a toy. Wanted to really like it but sold it after a few months. Thanks for your review but my opinion is quite different. Cheers!

    • @Americanslivesmatter
      @Americanslivesmatter 2 роки тому

      I was thinking about it but the polymer frame for that price you would think they would’ve made it in aluminum

    • @kkirk1381
      @kkirk1381 2 роки тому +3

      @@Americanslivesmatter this versions frame is made of aluminum - the Black Label version is polymer over aluminum. I have this gun in the compact version and it’s been reliable with any and all .22LR ammo. I my opinion it’s worth the price but again that’s in my opinion only. Stay safe and be BLESSED.

      Try the GSG 1911-22 by American Tactical, it’s the same as the Sig version they used to sell for a lot but they changed the name a while back and dropped the price, picked mine up new at Gander Outdoors a few weeks ago for $239, hasn’t had a single misfire yet and is very accurate, only shot cheap bulk ammo so far too which just sweetens the deal. 😉

    • @gavinm1347

      JD Tackett hold up 230$ that’s insane. Is it a full size?

    • @johndavidtackett
      @johndavidtackett 4 роки тому +1

      Gavin M it’s the same size as the Sig 1911-22 which I think Don shows in comparison so it’s close but not quite a full size 1911 I believe 😉

      Greg Schroer I could get a new sig p320 for 30$ more. That’s crazy. I could get 2 Turkish real 1911 for the price of 1 mini 22 1911
