Obviously, you’ve done your research and these Topdon units look really good. I wish I had your garage space though to store it all 😂. I do use a couple of those CTEK MXS 5.0 trickle chargers though- they’re excellent!
Hi Everyone. And thanks to all who are expressing an interest in potentially receiving the OBDII scanner/battery tester. For about 48 Hours, there has been a scammer posing as me using the TTG circular logo and posting cryptic replies to some of your comments relating to an app called 'telegram me' First Apologies to anyone who thought it really was me. 2nd beware of anything that looks like a link or a random string of characters whenever you are online. I occasionally post a link in my comments, but only to my own videos or occasionally to a jag-related website. From now on I will NEVER place a link in response. If I want to leave links then I will add them to the description area of the video and direct the commenter to look there.
This will mean that any other TTG imitators are easier to spot.
My comments will only be in plain English. (or as close as my dyslexia will allow) and the usual couple of emogees. 😁👍

One little observation and a slip of the tongue I am sure as you are clearly an experienced guy but at 24mins 45 secs into the video you state the internal resistance as '4.2 milli ohms' I suspect you meant to say '4.2 meg ohms' (particularly as 4.2 milli ohms would be incredibly small resistance and most DMM's, even expensive ones would not have the sensitivity to detect that low a resistance accurately.

Nice kit. Have a 2005 xk8. Like to see more comparisons to other units.
It's a nice tool I admit it.But Ancel AD 530 is a little better,cause it not only identifies the problem but explains you how it has to be fixed and you don't need to look for the meaning of the code.Making it faster and easier to identify and fix the problem.Is what I need the most since I'm not a professional mechanic it makes me feel sure of what I have to fix,and the price a bit cheaper than TopDon.

Hello John, I would love this tester to use on my 2001 xk8.
Howdy John! I'm very sorry I wasn't able to attend your original launch of this video, but hey your audience has gotten so big us folks on the west coast of the USA may miss a release or two. Anyway was curious if you are familiar with the performance "chips" available that allegedly will increase XK8 performance? What are your thoughts?
The XK8 is not a car well disposed to 'Standard tuning chips' The combination of the age of its ECU, and the inbuilt self learning functions make it less responsive in this regard and many tuning chips for our cars will just apply the cold start settings at wide open throttle, which is not necessarily better unless your car is modified to be able to utilise the additional fuel then present.
An XKR with a smaller supercharger pulley would make better use of a rechip but in all honesty would be better served by a custom tune in an aftermarket ECU, which puts it in a much more expensive mod category.
I looked into a chip based upgrade for my XK8 and went off the idea again quite quickly.

On another XK8 issue, have you shown how to change the handbrake switch on any of your films? mine has gone and i keep driving round with the hand brake on 🙄

Nice review. Please have you or anyone here in this comment section used this Topdon Artlink 500B on a Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid 2016/17/18 Models. I read the 2017 hybrid has a Lithium Polymer (LiPo) 12V battery and was wondering if the battery tester would work on it since it is written on the Package for Lead-acid batteries

Hi John, bit off topic , but need your help, Grandads Jag roof Latch is in the closed position and I can´t release it, ANY idea??. tryed the allen key but it won`t move. and the roof is not closed.. Cheers Petetr
Hi Peter have you tried undoing the little brass tap on the hood pump in the boot and then operating the latch manually
@@ToTheGarage John is right. Unless you allow the fluid to flow by releasing the little tap the hydraulic system will be locked.

@@petergolding8523 If the tap is open and the allen key still won't open the latch, there is something seriously jammed somewhere. You'll have to remove the cowling above the windscreen to check the mechanism. John posted a video showing how to do that a few weeks ago.
