In 2013(cancer)and in August 2023(ATV accident) I have become a widow and I am only 55. I have been overwhelmed which has been an understatement. I pray to God my miracles will come, that is my hope and my faith. I cannot deny God exists because I know He lives due to the many tender mercies He has given me. I feel I have been through hell many times and pray through hell I may embrace heaven. Thank you! I cry as I write.
Dear Sister, My heart aches WITH yours as WE continue to live in faith. On March 6, 2022 my son passed away suddenly. On March 7,2023 8 months ago, my husband passed away suddenly. I have grieved, been lost, been so angry at God, knowing full well of the plan. Your tremendous faith keeps you going, anticipating the coming miracle. His POWER gets you through each day. Grief just means you love deeply. I love you, I will pray for you and become one of your army on either side of the veil to hold you up! HOPE H. OLD O. N P. AIN E. NDS
Praying for you…I too have been dealt great loss and have experienced those pains. I pray the Comforter will be your constant companion!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
May you find Hope in Christ and feel His Love.. and find comfort in His Atonement 💝. May His Grace and Mercy Shower over you and all who are suffering. May we have a Brightness of Hope as we Continue listen together 💞 to these beautiful Words and teachings of Christ and soldier on.
Thank you Jared for last couple months study letters of Paul and way you explained you did wonderful job and spirit you bring. May Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ continue bless you and your family.
Love the line why trade an ocean full of glory for a thimble full of pleasure. Such a powerful line, I hope to remember this on the rest of my journey. Love studying with you , thank you for your dedication in helping us to learn more of the saviour
I loved the Old Testament Faith Hall of Fame walk-through. You said we also have a Book of Mormon Faith Hall of Fame, and the Church History faith Hall of Fame , and our own Family History Faith Hall of Fame and our Personal Faith Hall of Fame!!! Our Cloud of Witnesses!!
Bro. Halverson, I am so thankful that I can listen to your insights each week as we study together. When you shared about - they without us and us without them cannot be saved - my take, on us not being saved without them, has always been that I NEED the experiences in the Temple while serving them to be saved. Without those experiences, I don't know how I would ever be able to keep moving in that direction and endure to the end. Again, thank you (and your family) for the time and dedication you spend in this great work.
Brother Halverson, your "cloud of witnesses" concept is A.Maz.zing! You are an amazing teacher!!!! Thank you for showing us how to use the characters in scripture to provide answers in our lives to our challenges, trials and problems. I'm very sure the Savior has a special place right next to Him with your name on it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
I loved your example of the homes after the Northridge earthquake. I could really see them in my mind, and I loved the visual! We will be shaken, and our foundatoin and strength or lack thereof will be pretty obvious!
I have come to love Hebrews! And you always do such a great job of teaching and “likening the scriptures to us” and helping us apply them to our lives. I have a son in Kansas who listens to you as he commutes to and from work . Thanks for all you do! And I love the “one liners” you’ve been putting at the end of your podcasts. I am am a 77year old grandmother (my grandkids and great grands call me Nana) and I listen to you in Orem UT.
We acknowledge and appreciate with the hope to apply in our dialy lives the principle Bro Halverson has spoken "to turn from our weaknesses and rely upon the power and strength of God"
We are assembling a cloud of witnesses in seminary this week. ❤️. So many scriptures have helped with my lgbt children. At first when my child wanted to change their name i had an amazing experience recalling all of the ways Jesus introduces Himself in the Doctrine and covenants and all the names He takes on himself. I am reminded of Christ’s incredible power and knowledge and reach in Romans 8:38-39 I am inspired by the prodigal son’s father and reminded not to measure too early. I am inspired by the falling of the wall of jericho as i do the daily things the Lord wants me to do and trust in His great power to knock down whatever walls are around my children’s hearts From the beginning it was always 1 nephi 11:17 as i am reminded that of i dont understand everything- its okay if i rely on what I do know- that God loves us and our children I am comforted that even as i struggle to understand my children- atleast I know God knows what they are thinking and feeling my. I know that Christ knows what they are experiencing.
I was walking Wednesday morning, and as I came through a gate, the next part of my path led me to a rather steep decent. As I began the climb downward, your story of running the Hood to Coast race with your brother in laws came to my mind as you were teaching from Hebrews 12:1-2 about running with patience. I began contemplating that when the temple training we received the previous week came to mind. We were instructed in Emergency Procedures and discussed what we needed to do in the event of an evacuation. The sense of urgency was prominent but also caution. The need to depart is essential, but 2 things are important in that. First, you don't go forward that will be a risk to you or others and second, you take as many with you as you possibly can. As I continued pondering the comparison, I realized that my struggles lately are that the Lord is moving His work forward with a sense of real urgency and I am not keeping up, because, I am not spiritually training for it. Just as with any exercise or event, preparation and training are necessary in order to ensure your ability to endure and succeed, and sadly, I have been slacking. But I also realize, the word that is quintessential in this phrase is patiently. So it is daily taking the time and putting in the effort to do the work necessary for me to be ready, willing, and able to do the work, keep up, and bring as many with on both sides of the veil as I possibly can! Urgently but cautiously and with love and patience, work and desire, determination and focus!
We hold on our faith, be better, grateful for Paul testified of Savior Jesus Christ and his love for our Saviors and he wants us to come unto Him. Thank you very much😍👏
I am still trying to assemble my cloud of witnesses but you have helped with that task. I look forward to going over your lessons again and again! I hope your channel will continue after you have finished the come follow me lessons.
The cloud of witnesses section was a powerful image of how we can use the scriptures to liken them unto ourselves and come closer to our Savior. Generally, not as many people watch part II as opposed to part I. This week I would recommend to ALL that you really should watch part II -- it is powerful and will build spiritual strength and testimony.
I certainly enjoyed my time with Paul. In chapter eight when he was saying that all of Israel would know him, verse 8-13 when I first read that I was confused for there was no mention of repentance, just that He would not remember their sin and I figure some would wonder about the need for works. Is this an,”all will know Him,”after the every knee shall bow and every tough confess? Are these millennial saints that he is speaking of? Also I am so grateful for my cloud of witnesses that have occurred in my own life as will as the faithful past saints.
I was in Bakersfield when the Northridge quake shook and I felt it there. It was more of a gentle swaying than a shaking. The thought I had is you have to be just as in tune with the swayings (gentle temptations) as you do with the shakings. We also have to be unswayed as unshaken.
My thoughts on why we need them. Yes, they need us to do their temple work, but as we do so, we are allowing them to help and strengthen us. The lives of those we serve through temple and family history service are behind them. We can learn and gain strength from them and theor lives and trials, and gain theor help through our trials.
Thank you for sharing your amazing testimony along with Paul's. I have written a couple of your quotes from Paul in my KJV of the Bible and my favorite one-liner is "Coming Boldly to the throne of grace." I will keep moving forward. I never thought it must be difficult for you to record these lessons with your family. May God bless you and your family!
Response to Part 2? 🥲 - tears of the joy of personal revelation, increasing understanding of and love for our incomparable Saviour and increasing peace and joy in my life, despite trials and difficulties. How grateful and privileged I am, to be one of the Unshaken!
I also often think that the faithfulness of Abraham in following through in going with the intent of sacrificing his son might act as a model of greatness for the Father and Son who did not have their hands stayed. His willingness to follow through with such a 'terrible' act out of obedience and righteousness might have given them courage and strength through consideration of Abraham - and Isaaac's - faith, when the Great Atoning Sacrifice of the Saviour was actually required to be enacted.. when the Lord accomplished his decease. In the same way that the Lord declared that he would not again partake of the cup until he sat with the sons of Levi, those things could perhaps fortify courage and endurance during that which was the most exquisite of pain. Also I love to think of the angel coming to comfort Him in the Garden of Gethsemane; so many things to help Him, encourage Him, even though the actual Atonement was done and only could be done by one, Him alone. Love the wisdom of interwoven aspects of His great Sacrifice, that may have been a boon to Him during his hardest hours.
We also have the Book of Abraham which testifies of the time Christ would come... I think Abraham had total and complete faith that God of what the sacrifice of Isaac meant. It's hard to say what that looked like in Abraham's mind, however I do believe he had ALL trust in God.
I would like some more discussion about the idea that God exercises faith since: "faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things" "the past, the present, and the future were and are, with Him, one eternal ‘now.’" "the Gods saw that they would be obeyed, and that their plan was good."
Brother Jared Halverson, I enjoy each book 📖 we go through together and our class across the world 🌎 we can read others comments and gain more information, or help each other. Thank you again And your family for you doing these videos, for I watch them over again, and ones from back on other books 📚. ❤ 16:00
I've NEVER, EVER felt like I belonged in this plane of existence! Even as a child! Even with all the blessings since joining the church, I'm still extremely uncomfortable being here and now it's turning into paranoia with all the 👁 on me.
This earth really wasn't Pauls thing either..... "For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better": Philippians 1:23 But for our sakes he remained behind in order to testify of things of an eternal nature, even an assurance of a better life, if we would only accept his invitation to follow the Christ, even Jesus. Earth is a probationary place, a transitionary place, it was only meant to be temporary where the trials which included decay disease and death where just part of the refining process. After all this place we call earth is the abode of Satan and his hosts and we would prefer a better place, even a place of friends and not strangers, which is Eternal Life. When we (lose?) a loved one, it is was intended to be a "loved" one "gaining" a better place, where the "losing" are those left behind until they "gain" a better place (hopefully Eternal Life)
Brother Halverson, what do you think of the idea that Cain and Abel were a parallel of Lucifer and Jehovah? I don't understand many of the nuances of that, but it feels right to me.
Maybe taking a longer view. "Think Celestial" as President Nelson has asked. Your past is past and the difference between who you were, or even who you were before the examples of what not to follow, and the pathway to who you are now, and who you are becoming, and who you will become are worth following. Not to follow into a pit, but to help show the way out of a pit and into the light. Trying, praying, listening, and studying scriptures are wonderful things to emulate. Maybe your past may help you see past trials of others and help and encourage them.
Joseph Smith said thar Abel "was sent down from heaven unto Paul to minister consoling words, and to commit unto him a knowledge of the mysteries of godliness" (TPJS, p. 169). The problem with Cain's sacrifice is that Satan commanded him to make it, not the Lord. To make the proper sacrifice, Cain would've had to obtain a lamb from Abel, who Cain resented because Abel was to be the next Patriatch in stead of Cain. Cain lusted after Abel's flocks and desired to reclaim the birthright he had squandered through his own wickedness by eliminating Abel.
