That old Fox coverage man. This is just about the coolest NASCAR ever was. Brings a tear to your eye hearing that slide guitar. Fireworks and excitement in the air. Fast cars and danger. NASCAR needs to get back to this
I can’t believe it’s been 15 years already. This is easily my favorite Bud Shootout that I’ve watched. Junior was so damn dominate during Speedweeks that year. Too bad a bad battery cost him in the 500.
back when we had the greats... rusty, the labonte brothers, bill Elliot, scharader, dale jarrett, mark martin, ricky rudd, sterling marlin, jimmy spencer, bobby Hamilton, miss these days.
You sir are epic. I've been looking for this race for a long time. Great battle the whole night and not one caution needed to be thrown. Thanks for the upload.
First win of the new Monte Carlo style introduced in 2003 and then Michael won the Daytona 500 on Sunday for the first official win. Dale Jr. and Robby Gordon also added Twin 125 victories too.
2003 Budweiser Shootout Location: Daytona Beach, Florida Track: Daytona International Speedway Type of race track: Superspeedway Starting cars: 19 Finishing cars: 18 Laps: 70 Pole Winner: Geoffrey Bodine (11) (Part-Time) Most laps led: Jeff Gordon (24) (31 laps led) Exhibition Race Winner: Dale Earnhardt Jr. (8)
And screw everyone for picking on DW cuz he’s old. He’s a great man and he’s damn right about a lot of shit. Rest easy DW and I hope to see you in Daytona. I’ll always think of you as friend and hope to thank you in real life for being such a good role model
At the 1.07 point, All 3 of these Commentators all but counted Junior Out! Now, at the end, they're "pretending" they knew Junior was gonna win all along! LOL
i remember seeing these cars for the first time in 2003 after the 2002 season, and to this day, i wasn't a fan of the chevy's design form 2003 to 2005, i don't think i've seen a chevy Monte Carlo look like that IRL, the 2002 model looked better then that, but the Ford's, Pontiac's and the Dodge's, they looked fine
Lotta people in Daytona USA. Amazing to watch the younger France suck the last remaining lifeblood from the sport. We brought racism back before 900+ HORSEPOWER????

I Like Your Profile Pic Pittsburgh Penguins On It
I agree 100% with you. Had the rain not started falling in 2003 Dale Junior would’ve won that 500

@Jay H a baby
Watching Schrader run up front with that team at the end was so cool
Put a smile on my face watching that
20 Years ago today, I watched my first ever live race, which was this. My favorite driver won.
Cheers.

When restrictor plate racing was exciting ...
Still is exciting.
It's still great people still complained then.

Absolutely fantastic upload!!! Been looking for the full race for a long time. Bravo man :-)

Back when restriction plate racing only happened 4 times a year
these cars sound a lot different to the ones of today
DubSe7en just say better
These days, the Shootout (or Clash) isn’t like this anymore. Going through the entire race without anything major happening.

Hard to believe I watched this 2 days after I was born.
Back when a sold out crowd got their moneys worth.
At the 1.07 point, All 3 of these Commentators all but counted Junior Out! Now, at the end, they're "pretending" they knew Junior was gonna win all along! LOL
LOL, Chris Myers said "Budweiser Shitout"
When does he say it
I was down the road in Disney when this race happened.
