Ryan, I am 51 and have been in the gym since 30 something. I recently had a pulled nerve in my neck that made me lose sensation in my finger permanently. This exercise is amazing. Thank you for taking the time to do this. It has been excellent so far and was so necessary for guys with this posture issue. Don't be shy to share gems like this again. Thanks again.
Ryan, 54 year old here . Been resistance/movement training for function and daily stregnth since I was 24. This exercise has relieved alot of burrning pain in the back/base of my neck (and has helped my rear delts pop). Great exercise, Thanks!
48 yrs old. Always looking for a good shoulder warm up before smashing the weights. Damn it, this one is pretty f'ing good. With each rep past six I was saying f-u, Ryan... f-u, Ryan...The burn was pretty intense but I could really feel it as long as I kept it a slow motion. Pretty damn good. I did it everyday this week before the lifting. My girlfriends noticed my posture and center back muscles are better. Thanks, Ryan.
Athlean-X had something like this in some of Jeff’s shoulder workouts and back stuff. It helped me a lot, and this right here is a fantastic improvement on that. Definitely doing this daily. I still use the black balls, but I hog 2 of the ropes so I have a wider pull. And I piss off more people in the gym.
I bought 2 long rope attachments (pretty cheap) on Amazon and take them with me in a backpack to gym (along with carabiner clips, some simple handles, etc. because sometimes that shit is missing on equipment around gym. Handles would be nice though but I've been pressing up the 2 ropes after pulling them back, also seen in a AX facepull video. Helps a lot. My try to get a TRX though as I can see it being handy.
I did see Daniel recommend this too! But I didn't understand that video. Ryan's helped me understand the form, what muscles are active, and the goal of the exercise more. Better angles and lighting maybe.

NOTHING worked like the TRX. 1st rep 1st set of the exercise and got a huge cramp (a problem not new since the injury). Kept going and have to say its gone. GONE. I need to do this!! Luckely I already have a cheaper version of the TRX that I got for christmas like 4 years ago. Its stored away in a drawer some were but finally! I will have a use for it! Thanks man.
I absolutely love facepulls I really think I'm good at them and I've been doing them for a while. I haven't payed attention to my poster since high-school if I'm being honest but I feel I'm at least decent with my poster. However this exercise looks interesting! I'll definitely give it a try! I've definitely benefited by subscribing to Ryan's channel and I trust his input when I'm ready to get after it and keep growing!
I usually do Y raises on the TRX to substitute face pulls
Best video yet.
And that says a lot. We ALL need this
Nice thanks mate
I used to do face pulls but the ropes are always in high demands and it sucks if you need two but this , RTX was ist?, no one ever uses it, so yeah thanks mate!
Dude, I have cervical radiculopathy and have been trying to fix it for 2 years with lackluster results. I've fixed it like 80% through better head posture and strengthing the shoulders but it just won't completely go away. I'm going to add this to the beginning of every workout. Wish me luck!
This pillow is a huge help as well. www.amazon.com/dp/B079FK5QKD
TRX from Craigslist ... $80
Tried this new exercise... cried like a baby
Shoulders ... loved it
Thanks Ryan. U da man.
How should we breathe during the exercise? Thank you, as always, this channel has gotten me back in the gym, by the way!
I tried them now, and WOW, just WTF 🤪
Isane conection to the entire upper back and shoulders...
This will be first/ partly warmup in every day of my program.
Thank you RH. 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks for this gem brother. Did it yesterday, shoulder feel great. Great Vids! Great jokes! Love the TRX moves!
I swear.. this guy is so freaking awesome.. thanks for the knowledge or working out properly
Nice. I shall add this to my repertoire. Thanks, this looks very helpful
Ryan,
I am 12 years old and have been training since kindergarten. I've had six or seven knee blow outs and rupture of my bumbum (O-ring). Spent DAYS trying to put it back in! Just tried this and had a brown bum "holy shit" moment. Much better than simple red rover. IOU1.
Ryan have you ever tried heavy mace training, it hits all those areas and your grip improves significantly a lot better fella 👍
Now I’m wondering if there’s a way to do this with light dumbbells. Maybe facing down on an incline bench.
It works. Hits like a truck. I recommend it.
Yep
A million thank you's! U clearly know where I am broken and struggling
Hell yeah! This is perfect! Gym tomorrow. Ryan you rock man! This exercise looks like it will help me. 💪😎
Just tried this......I like this better than face pulls.....adds another dimension to them.....I'll see how it goes over a month of daily use.....
A really good one for mobility! Thnx Ryan
This excercise is perfect! I love it! Great pump💪
You going to one million sub man.. am happy about that..👍💪💪💪
Thanks man. I always got shoulder problem and this felt better than face pull.
One of my favorite exercises, never thought of doing it every day.
Going through PT for shoulder impingement, due to not strengthening those scapular muscles. This exercise fits the bill for strengthening and warming up my shoulders! Thanks.
Great stuff. I was wondering if you can make a video on accessories like those fat gripz and arm blasters... To see if they're worth it.
Gonna incorporate this in my next shoulder workout. Looks fun.
Hell yeah, this is my favorite warmup too. So obviously I think this is great advice 👍
The dynamic quasi iso combo feels really good, I'm grateful. One thing, Ryan please grow the hair back...... Seriously
Thank you. I’ll be trying this today
Fixed my shoulder impingement.. Thanks
As someone with the posture of a question mark, I gotta say thanks for this one 🤙
Ryan...when are you doing a gym tour with all the new equipment?
This looks phenomenal thank you for posting
Ryan, you are a magician…. Had a nagging infraspinatus pain…. With this exercise i can train normal
Again. Dont know how to thank you…thanks man
Ryan's about to hit 1m subs....yipeee 🔥🔥🔥
Still don't know what happened to the hair.. But anyway. this dude never ceases to amaze me on how he changes angles to get results....
Nice that you take enough time to actually show the excercise! 👍
I do underhand band pull aparts and man I can feel my upper back fire up! I see a big difference in my posture as well.
