I can relate to your title for I too have a son with aspergers even though he is now of adult age. Life was a bit different when he was a young child. The one thing I have always wished for was just a bit of support. He finished highschool and is currently at residing with me (even though he is in a hospital at the moment). It is tough, and if you have support that makes life for all so much better. Stay strong =)

It's always the mothers that downgrade people with aspergers, if your son has aspergers good for him! He must be proud of who he is, like me! I have aspergers and I look down of the neurotypical ways.

@@cyclinggirl3212 Heya whilst 9 years on I've learnt to adopt a more nuanced and less mysoginistic stance regarding mothers and neurotypicals I still second that hear hear in relation to being proud of the good traits of aspergers. The whole shtick of looking up to Bill Gates, Einstein and Spielberg has not changed :) I think both people with neurotypia and aspergers can learn from each other in some ways

Before I actually saw him as different...other people always pointed it out. I did kind of compare his development to others and saw many differences. He behaved rather differently than other children, yet he was also more advanced in many ways as well. He did not talk for years...then started reading and speaking in complete sentences all of a sudden.

@uniquemommy1984 you are so true to that, if they cant except you and your child for who you both are then they are not true friends. Have you tried lookin up a group in you area for Autusim play groups? thier are such things where I live but wasnt sure for where you live, even if the children dont realy "play" together you and the other parents can at least talk and become friends, I have found that parents that share the same experciances are sometimes the best parents to be friends with.

@uniquemommy1984 I am a mom of a 4 year old special needs daughter and I have found that one of my best friends has a daughter that has the same "issues" as she does except my DD is starting to regress again and is starting to spin and be "out in space" more often and hardly no Eye Contact, yet she wasnt dxed on the specrtum even though my gut feeling says she has asperbergars. I have a book about it and my dd fits it to the "T" so I am going to get her tested again for it. sorry this is long.

My niece has autism, I have a very hard time understanding her. She will not make eye contact and will hit and scream, my God the noises that child makes. She makes family gatherings very hard especially when you consider the safety of the other children. She can be aggressive and hit and bite them. I am lost as to what to do with her, I find this all incredibly frustrating. Any suggestions or examples of what to do would be appreciated. The holidays are coming and I am dreading time with her.
