Torry Holt had 6 1300 yard seasons in a row, leading the league in receiving for two of those years, then had two more 1200 yard seasons. He should have been a first or second ballot hall of famer. Wasn't flashy, didn't draw attention to himself, just produced with the likes of Moss, Harrison, and TO. And for most of his career, he didn't have prime Warner. He had Warner during his lows, Bulger, and Fitzpatrick.
Used to play basketball at the gym in Atlanta with Willie Anderson. Even played with him the year he was in the pro bowl. All that time I had no idea who he was. Just thought he was a tall overweight guy. He didn't move much on the court, but he was a really nice guy. Had no idea who he was. Just at the local LA Fitness.
Julius Peppers, IMO, never got the respect he deserved. The man was not just a sack artist, but he also played the run very well. His rookie season was in '02, he had 12 sacks. Fast forward 15 years and he notched 11 sacks. That in itself is remarkable.
Ricky Watters should've stayed in San Francisco, and I say that as an Eagles fan. Would've been on more notable teams, and maybe would've helped them get farther, which would've made a better case than his stats did
Eddie George was a multiple time pro bowler until his chronic toe injury ended his ability to perform. MLB put Kirby Puckett in the hall, knowing his loss of vision ended his career early. You can put Eddie in based on the trajectory his career was going.
Having the first ballot Hall of Famer’s in their own wing sounds good at first. What about those that didn’t get in on the first try and clearly should’ve. Terrell Owens for example (which was BS).
Adrian Peterson when he goes in as a 1st Ballot hall of famer will be the last RB to go in for a very long time. The only veteran RB that's playing today and trending in the HOF direction is the 49ers McCaffrey... Btw, if Calvin Johnson was a lock to get inducted into the Hall, then Tory Holt should be too. I would argue Holt had more of a impact on the game then Calvin ever did
@@timfleming3083Who cares if really great (not just good) are inducted. You have a league that’s been around 100+ years & 32 teams. You have more and more players having played each year. Just because Wrs don’t become better than Jerry Rice doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be recognized and celebrated. I just think something to acknowledge a first ballot guy would be a neat addition
He's literally the best to ever do it. I think he obviously belongs in the HOF. There shouldn't be a bunch of special teamers necessarily, but if you're the best, then you should be in.
@@thevoxdeus I don't have strong feelings about him not getting in but if you watched during that era it seemed everyone on the bears were good returners. RW McQuarters was a great returner for them around that time as well. And Hester was great but only had 19 return tds, is 19 tds enough to get you into the Hall of Fame?
@@thevoxdeus it also depends how you define "best to ever do it". Are you factoring both kick and punt returns? Are you factoring yards, tds, both? He is the leader in combined return tds but not overwhelmingly so that it would guarantee him a spot in the HOF but leave out the other greats like Dante Hall
Torry Holt is the most likely WR to get in because he's waited the longest. That's not meant to say Holt is or isn't the best WR eligible just saying how the process tends to work.
It's no end of amusement for me that the Giants won the SB the first year after Barber retired. A close second was when he tried to come out of retirement in 2011 and was greeted by the sounds of crickets chirping from every team in the NFL. Didn't he leave his wife for his assistant, when his wife was pregnant with twins?
Tiki Barber constantly critisized Eli Manning in the media during his last few years and the Giants stunk even though Barber played well. The year after Barber retired, the Giants beat the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl. IMO, Tiki Barber shouldn't be in the Giants HoF not to mention the NFL Hof. If somone asks you does a player belong in the Hof and you have to think about it, the answer is no.
Three seasons of 2000+ yards from scrimmage and nearly a fourth. That is pretty darn impressive. Name a running back who has accomplished this and has 15000 yards from scrimmage and is not in the Hall of Fame. You can't.
Dan Marino also broke dozens of records - but did have a shit postseason record. If Donovan McNabb had more seasons with competent receivers, he'd be in.@@Kingdizzleltdinc615
If Terrel Davis is in the HOF.....Tiki should be too. I question if either belong there?..... but since T.D. is to target, Tiki was better in his career.
If either belong there? Terrell Davis 2,000 yard season 1 of only 8 (none of the other 7 is named Tiki) , Superbowl champion - twice, Superbowl MVP. He did all this in his first four years and he didn't even reach his prime yet. In fact he didn't even have a prime. If he never blow out his knee he would have had an even greater career statistical wise. Remember Terrell only played seven seasons (the first four he was healthy before his injury) and had to retire because of his knee. Tiki got to play a decade and most of those years he was healthy. Terrell was the main focal point of his teams success during those Superbowl years. Elway was at the end of his career. The burden was on Terrell shoulders but stepped up and carried his team to two Lombardi trophies. Tiki didn't dominate his Superbowl opportunity. Stats aren't everything.
