What kind of ear protection did you get? I go some rated for industrial noise, they don’t even block the microwave sound. I avoid putting my vitamix on high speed bc I can’t even think it is so loud. I don’t know if it’s correct to be so loud. Love the recipe ❤️

You should make a new text for Knopflers Song about the guy who made McDonalds a franchise.

Last night I went to bed fed up with myself, after yet again stuffing my face all evening with sweets. So fell asleep determined to have a day without added sugar, I have to start one day at a time. Then I wake up and here's Jessica with a hot chocolate! Needless to say, I get to soak dates, stop video, find dates in the kitchen and get them soaking while I get up! I can do this!! I've got oat milk and hooray! I bought the one without sugar. Today will be a reading ingredients and giving away sweets kind of day! 😘Let the adventure begin!

If you like chocolate you might want to try the vegan chocolate pudding I make quite often: you need 60 g flaxseed, 12 dates, 3 teaspoons of unsweetened cocoa powder and 300 ml water. On day 1 you blend the flaxseed, then add the other ingredients and blend it until there are no visible pieces left. Then let it rest in the fridge overnight - the flaxseed will soak up all the water and give you just the right texture. Of course you could also use any kind of nut milk instead of water or vary the amount of dates according to your taste - whatever. Some people like to use chia seeds instead of flaxseed - but as the nutritional information for chia seeds is almost the same and they are much more expensive I don't use them that much.

Look, I don’t want to be completely frivolous, but y’all are looking great. Brian, the short hair is really spruce!
A couple tips if you’re willing to add more than three ingredients: Try a pinch of salt if you’re good with salt. Try a little splash of vanilla. Try a pinch of instant espresso powder - like Medaglia D’Oro; it won’t make the cocoa taste like coffee, but will intensify the chocolate flavor.

A lot of keto people just mainly eat a high animal protein diet with few veggies. Watch the movie Forks Over Knives for a good perspective on the Whole Foods Plant Based lifestyle.

I started making my own almond milk over 30 years ago (yes, I'm that old!), and as a chocolate lover I made a very similar drink back then. What I'm thinking might be a delicious add that I plan to try soon is to add some frozen sweet black cherries (and vanilla -- but your unsweetened almond milk already had vanilla in it). I make my own vanilla too, so that's kind of fun. In case you are ever open to making your own almond milk, I have developed a less processed and more economical way of making almond milk: To make a little over a quart of great almond milk, soak 1/4 cup raw almonds for about 12 hours in pure or filtered water. The main reason I do this is so that I can just "pop off" the skins without any trouble. Once all the skins are popped off and thrown out, add the almonds to the blender with 2 or more cups of good water. (I add more water later but have it more dense with the belief -- mistaken or not -- that the blender will do a better job of pulverizing the almonds with a little less water in the container.) I also do not freeze or even refrigerate my dates, but after taking the pits out I make a lightly sweetened almond milk by adding about 8 dates to the mixture as well as a teaspoon of vanilla extract and a teeny pinch of salt (which adds to the sweetness). In my Blendtec high-speed blender I whir it on the highest speed for two cycles (a total of 1 1/2 minutes). When I used to make almond milk in my $40 blender I just blended a lot longer at the highest speed -- closer to 5 minutes. Once it is well-blended I do NOT strain out the fiber, and rarely does my tongue detect the fiber. Then I add the rest of the water (and I go for a total of 4-6 cups, depending on how rich I want the almond milk to be). Using 6 cups will still, I believe, have more almond content than commercial almond milks. I don't use Hershey's although I have loved their chocolate for a lifetime. It's just that they are NOT careful to make sure there are no child slaves on the plantations from which they buy their chocolate. I watched some documentaries on this and it was so heartbreaking, not only the slavery but the terrible conditions in which those children live (who never get to even taste chocolate, by the way). I use raw organic cacao/cocoa powder and am VERY pleased with it!) Anytime you buy organic cocoa or cacao, you KNOW there are no slaves involved, by the way.

Fun video, thank. Also worth considering is cacao, even cacao nibs in place of cocco. Also in place of milk use water and oats / oatmeal or your favorite milk base, ie almonds or cashews. The vitamix can make them into milk as it makes the hot chocolate. I'd rather carry home the dry base for non-dairy milks and make them as I need them than by them premade and carry all that water etc. Enjoy.

I also use a banana or half a sweet potato and sometimes also ground flax seeds and cinnamon.

Great looking hot chocolate. With the romantic guitar music I was almost expecting sprigs of mint in both fancy glasses! ;-)

For a vitamix comparable, look at the ninja chef 1500 it’s like $150 and works just as well. I’m gonna try this recipe.

I will definitely be hitting the blog up for the full recipe. Thanks for sharing this. I’m excited to let my kids try it. It’s been so cold already and I think it’s safe to say we are in for a cold winter. Okay so I will do more research, but are you guys the first to inform me that the blender has an actual heat setting, like a warming setting? I had no idea. I use my little baby bullet for everything!! Haha

Yes the Vitamix I have (A2500 Ascent Series) even has a "hot soup" setting that runs for about 5 minutes so you can make hot soup directly in there!

That changes everything. I’ve been holding out bc I like to conserve money, but now I’m imagining Mufasa say to Simba, “It is time!”
The only other question is about the dates. Would you say that’s about 3 dates? I’m bad with grams.

This was hilarious - loved the editorial comments! (I actually appreciated the tips and warnings 😉) Using dates as the sweetener sounds like a great idea, and I plan to try it soon. Thanks, Jessica!

Cocoapowder rice syrup and rice-hazelnutmilk. Mix powder with rice syrup. Coffeespoon each. And a few drops of the milk. When smooth add the rest of the milk. Heat in pot on stove. Low-tech deliciousness. (Heat in microwave 40 secs, stir, heat another 30 secs) I drink this twice a day 4 seasons 365 days per year. Optional: a drop of vanilla essence.

I'm making this tonight! Didn't think about the dates as sweetener - great suggestion. Wondering if you know of a vegan brownie recipe to go with it!

LOL it's like Peef answered her on the blender. And I have put unpitted dates in my blender. I kept wondering why it was making such a loud noise like it wasn't mixing and then at occurred to me thank goodness it didn't break.
