I love both, Im super hyped to wtch gear 5 bc Im at 1030, but both are amazing. Both are just a culmination of both characters’ work ethic and hidden potential, and to try to compare the two in a negative way takes away from the two mangakas’ writing genius. Comparison is the thief of joy. Just enjoy both.

That mixed with his carefree personality and his incredibly strong will made him practically a perfect inheritor to his fruit. Same way that Goku has an incredible sense for battle and with his genetics of being a saiyan worked out for him but hes an outlier when it came to saiyans. Super saiyan was a culmination of all of Gokus strength, saiyan genetics, and anger when he most needed it. Very similarly to how gear 5 is a culmination of Luffys insane will to live and fight, and his competency with his devil fruit along with the fact that he ate it without knowing. Its very similar and its just like how Naruto, Ichigo, and a few other big animes have their transformations come to life. Naruto with his Uzumaki blood with Kuramas chakra mastered made him have a completely different form. Ichigos hollow, shinigami, fullbring, and quincy powers culminate to create HOS ichigo. There are reasons why people like these transformations. Some more than others, but its because you get to see all the hard work pay off.
