Andy is as professional and talented an interviewer as he is a tennis player. Great advice Lindsay on how to delicately balance our enthusiasm for tennis with our children's independence.
Lindsay is the Best!! I saw her subtle fiery side in spring of 2011. BradG was supposed to do a tennis clinic sponsored by Cadillac at our club & last min he couldn't and she stepped in. I was just starting to play and was a 3.0 who had zero ball control. When it was my turn to drill with her (volley/volley/overhead) I was so nervous I totally whiffed on the overhead & spectators laughed. She kindly told me to ignore them and watch the ball. Next feed I hit the overhead a little too good and tagged her quite hard on her upper front hip! She was NOT pleased, but being the kind person she was she told me no worries. In the evening clinic, my wife was participating & in her opening remarks told the crowd "If you hit me you get a Cadillac", then proceeded to show the crowd a nasty bruise I caused & all the club members gave my wife nasty looks insinuating that her husband is a giant prick. (I have that speech on video.) To make matters worse a few weeks later on twitter she announced she was expecting a baby. Now I felt like I WAS a giant prick. I congratulated & apologized in my replies. I followed her pregnancy to make sure there were no complications. I am a little better these days, but when I rip a ball that hits someone on my court the members at my club tell the victim, not to worry "Gabe hits everyone he plays with/against at some point...even hitting a pregnant "Lindsey Davenport"....so I can never live that down. :( Keep up the awesome content & guests!! If Lindsey gets pissed at you in the future, just remind her of the prick in North Carolina who hit her in a friendly clinic and she may divert anger towards me.
That story of the junior player shouting insults to Lindesey’s son about her reminds me of the Olympic incident with Danielle Collins and Iga Swiantek.
Sometimes they rushed too much on the kids. Darwin Blanch is following Martin Landaluce's route. wc after wc before they are really ready to take advantage of them. I suppose because both are big boys, really tall. The main difference is Martin was competitive while Darwin is having a rough time. With Martín i suppose winning the US Open made his team to stop playing juniors but Darwin didn't won a GS and he could compete this year (when he would be one of the top contenders) They did the same with Joao Fonseca this year, but he seemed to be more ready to the circuit (he is one year older than Darwin) but in my oppinion they are putting too much pressure on him. And this year will be easy because he has no points to defend but next year could be different. In the end it seems Landaluce's career is going well. Now he is playing challengers but qualifying by his own ranking and winning some matches, but those defeat could cost him a prize if he wasn't tough enough. Darwin has a lot of talent but it's pretty clear he needs more time to develop
I think with Donald Young it was more a factor of unreasonable belief. I like Donald a lot but one of the main attributes when he was was that he had all this speed. And he didn't seem to rely on it as time went on. Also his backhand isn't very good and he still hasn't fixed it to this day
Lindsay has always been a wonderful human being, humble, nice, down to earth, easy going. no surprise that her kids are raised well.

"just because he goes on court and lays an egg'' is kinda hilarious and why i always loved his press conferences. Great discussion here.
