Funny thing is that the Swedish speaking Finns also have their flag, which is the yellow cross on the Finnish flag, but the old Finnish flag which was red. So it looks nearly identical (I think the shade of red is different).

So the reason the Cuban and Puerto Rican flags are similar is because Puerto Rico based their flag off Cuba's. The Puerto Rican revolutionaries in NYC were inspired by Cuba's model and struggle and thus the flag's design was presented during a dinner meeting with Cuban poet and fighter José Martí present. Though that wasn't the first PR flag. The first one was flown during the short-lived El Grito de Lares rebellion in 1868 and it had a cross design that was blue on top and red on the bottom (kinda lke the UK flag you showed at 3:54) with a star at the top left.
