      Everything is a belief system. Use what works. Use creams, serums, etc. within your realm of expectations. You have to eat properly to have good skin care. You can use the best skin care in the world, neck, cream, eye, cream, whatever cream, but if your diet is not on point your skin will never glow.

    This is my first time watching you and I LOVE the honesty! I'm 36 but I look 25 and for some reason I woke up today saying "I need to get into preventative skin care for my neck and chest area." I started with tiny bits of filler at 35, only in my cheeks and lips. I never have more than 1ml at a time, split between my cheeks and never more than 0.55ml in my lips and I've preserved what I have always looked like. I've used retinol and peptides since I was 30 (though I loved lotions and potions in my 20s), wear SPF every day. I never sunbath for more than 15 mins a day on holiday (for vitamin D) and then have a white sarong over my face and chest, wear over spf30 and very high UVA protection, also a hat, stay in the shade. I turn 40 next year and will get a white umbrella. I still have lots of fun, but I keep in mind that I do want to look good forever and I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I am a child at heart and want my outside to match my inside as much as possible. 😍

    I found this video helpful. I'm 43 and was unpleasantly surprised that aging shows up almost overnight, rather than gradually as I'd always assumed. Neck wrinkles, nasolabial folds, some sagging or jowliness around the jawline, and deeper smile lines are my main facial aging issues so far. As an oily skinned girl, I was never in the habit of moisturizing at all, but now I am learning to faithfully apply moisturizer and sunscreen. I have a retinol/hyaluronic acid night cream and I'm beginning to dermaroll/microneedle. I'm nervous about whether I'll see results. I saw another video where someone said that a drugstore cream, Nivea smoothing and firming cream, got rid of her under-eye bags completely and also helps with jowels. I have a vitamin C serum for post-dermarolling. This is a whole lotta new stuff all at once. My skincare regimen has had to change drastically pretty quickly. I never thought about wrinkles before. Your neck looks better than mine, I'm 43, and a year ago, I had no neck wrinkles at all! They appeared overnight! Two deep lines. And now a third one along the collarbone. I want to get used to aging gracefully and accepting nature, but it's pretty hard to do when you are new to aging and get a shock looking in the mirror. I will learn to love my aging face but slowing down the change a bit would be nice.

Although I was lucky enough to have found an excellent dermatologist years ago (thanks to whom my skin is healthier now than in my early 30s), I neglected the neck and chest area. As of September last year I started the routine suggested in this video, step by step, just like you explained it. Still far from my desired goal, yet the results on my neck and chest are amazing when speaking in terms of 7,8 months. I'm 64, did not take good care of my skin. I've lost weight and now I'm dealing with a droopy neck. I've started covering my face and neck with Ponds Cold Cream for sensitive skin. I've noticed a dramatic difference already :) I put it on, leave it on for about 30 minutes then gently wipe off with a wet, warm facecloth. The lines are diminishing and my skin feels so good. I also once a month cover my face and neck with raw honey, leave it on for 30 minutes and then wash off with wet, warm facecloth. Makes my skin shine :)

      That’s amazing and I totally believe it! My grandmother used Ponds Cold Cream her whole life. It was the only product she used. Her skin was beautiful and wrinkle-free, despite years on the beach and being fair skinned. You have inspired me to start using it too. Thanks 😊

      @michaelafischer6177 4 роки тому +4

      You are very, very, sweet, and please continue to do this because it makes you happy and has a pleasant effect, but I do have to tell you that Ponds Cold Cream is not particularly good as a moisturiser or anti-ageing. (It is, however, an excellent first/make-up cleanser.) Cold Cream is almost entirely made of mineral oil, and is primarily intended for make-up removal. It has no other benefits--at all--and that's the hard truth. Women used to use it as cream, because the other creams on the market also had nothing to offer except mineral oil and petrolatums and what was then-unrefined lanolin (contemporary medical-grade lanolin is perfectly lovely).
      So, the effect of your Cold Cream treatment is purely superficial. There's special magic in this product at all, and it will certainly no protect anyone from the harmful UV damage that Panda mentions (walking on the beach without SPF is a dangerous practice, statistically likely to result in skin cancer by age 70, and her grandmother was simply blessed in genetics). Any benefit that you're seeing from the Cold Cream is because you haven't been using skincare for decades. The Cold Cream adding back oil into your skin. Nothing more. As we age, our skin stops producing natural oils in a youthful abundance, so a heavy superficial moisturiser of any kind will replenish dry/oil-deprived skin and give a softer look and feel to the skin. (It may also improve your skin barrier if this has been damaged from chronic dryness and dehydration, etc, which seems likely.) However, it is not adequate to reverse or prevent accelerated ageing, however--and better barrier repair comes from the presence of Natural Moisturising Factors in a cream, which include linoleic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, urea, cholesterol, phytosphingosine, ceramides, and much, much more. These are ideally naturally found in abundance in skin.
      I would strongly suggest watching some of Nadine's videos to learn about ingredients, skin science, and affordable options with ingredients that can actually help to repair and improve your skin. Skincare has gotten genuinely 1000x better and more effective since the days of Pond's Cold Cream (which I would totally hold onto for removing make-up, however). But you don't need to spending much more money, I promise. The Ordinary, The Inkey List, and Superdrug all have options in the same price range. For you, I would specifically recommend the Superdrug Simply Pure Hyrdating Serum for 2.99 pounds (www.superdrug.com/Skin/Face-Skin-Care/Face-Serums/Superdrug-Simply-Pure-Hydrating-Serum-50ml/p/342700). This is a WONDERFUL product that has most of the ingredients I discussed. :) The Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser for roughly the same price is a great alternative to Ponds Cold Cream for cleansing too.
      For moisturiser, I would suggest something like The Ordinary's Natural Moisturing Factors + HA, which Nadine is a big fan of. This is 5 pounds: www.cultbeauty.co.uk/the-ordinary-natural-moisturizing-factors-ha.html.
      As for honey, it's okay. It has two benefits--anti-microbial activity to assist blemish-prone skin, and humectant properties to lock water into the skin. The latter is most likely why you enjoy it and see a benefit. However, you will like that hydrating serum even more, I think, as it contains hyaluronic acid (holds 1000x its weight in water, which our skin loses in scary quantities as we age until we almost have none in our elderly years. No HA is why 80-year-old skin has that distinct look about it).
      This comment is not a critique. I am wonderfully happy that you have started your skincare journey, and it's always nice to share what works for us. But as someone who has a medical background and a particular interest in skincare, I thought I would explain why there are a lot better options on the market, especially as others may be disappointed by the long-term results it yields for them. It's easy to think that the oldies work because they're tried and tested and many attractive women swore by them, but skincare is an area that has progressed leaps and bounds. We understand things so much better today, and the truth about most women who had great skin back in the day was simply that they had great skin. Some people do. But their products largely didn't work. We can determine that in a lab now.

    • @michaelafischer6177
      @michaelafischer6177 4 роки тому +2

      Also, droopy neck is partly a loss of elastin (and, of course, diminished fat). Clinical treatments can be very helpful for this, actually, and at-home microcurrent devices (Myolift, NuFace) are also useful but must be used ongoingly to maintain the results. Creams don't work very well with neck droop. There's not a lot that they can do, if you think about it. Especially a basic moisturiser that is just delivering oil and water into your skin. To determine how much elastin your skin has, you can pinch your hand. Young elastin-rich skin will bounce back flat instantly, but elastin-lacking mature skin will stay pinched for longer and may have no bounce left at all.
      My family has a natural predisposition towards jowls, so I wish anti-droop were't so difficult. Haha... Budget friendly options are muscle strengthening exercises for a small lift (albeit not of the skin), which you can find here on UA-cam or on Google, as well as making sure to apply sunscreen to prevent things from getting worse.

From what I understand, our necks lack sebaceous glands so the face creams with more potentially irritating ingredients like acids or arbutin (Oridnary arbutin irritates my neck but not liquid gold!). Anyway I just use cerave cream it's got quite safe ingredients and ceramides. Basically, keeping it hydrated and moisturised is all that's necessary. And yes the exfoliation once a week but not too often due to my point above about not having sebaceous glands.

      I agree on the gold bond cream. The most rapid and visible change was on my chest. I had been developing a crease from side sleeping and after less than week that went away. I’ve never had the courage to put it on my face wrinkles (between my brows is the most prominent) because my face is very sensitive and seems to get dry, red or blemishes if I put any cream based products on it.

      Marcy Brennan It's a very old saying that "nature's green is gold," meaning that youth is the most beautiful asset we can have. That said, I didn't reach my prettiest point until I was in my late 20s, but many women have told me that when they turned 30, men lost interest in them, like somebody flipped a switch. It isn't fair, but it's part of evolution - the young women are the most attractive because of their fertility. Men don't usually think of it that way, but the survival instinct of the species is in the DNA.

    Poor posture is another contributing factor of sagging jawline, especially now days with everyone staring at electronic devices with their faces turned down, reading books or documents with the face downwards. Women who have heavy breasts are also more inclined to having sagging around the jawline. Repetitive movements and poor posture unfortunately will negatively impact the jawline, so pay attention as well as using good skincare consistently and eating nutritious, wholesome foods, lots of water too.

      Take a look at Facerobics. It's a bit confusing because so many videos so worth watching the How To ones first. In particular take a look at Peta Pryor's before and afters. She explains everything in great detail.

    Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I so appreciate this. I have been struggling with what’s appropriate for me. While the reviews on neck cream and other creams are coming in well reviewed. I started asking around at cosmetic counters about this. I ran some numbers on the cost. You can save yourself about half of what you you would spend if you purchased the skin care line + neck cream. I even deduce that you are better off spending your money on the speciality items such as serum and oils. Just go with a basic moisturizer. I also know it’s about consistency. So I only do it at night when everything can soak sink in. And the employees at the counters said use the face mask, exfoliators, cleanse, etc on the neck and even chest. Thank you so much for sharing why not to spend the extra money? Plus put what’s left over on the back of the hand. Never thought to do that.

    Thank you for the honest assessment of neck creams, and I agree, the neck and dec are the same as the face. You've saved me $300 for an unnecessary La Mer neck and dec cream. I use La Mer Lifting and Firming Cream with great results, I'm going to use it on my neck and jaw line beginning tonight.

    The neck and jawline are two different things. The neck on your neck and chest IS different than the skin on your face - it's thinner and has fewer muscles supporting them than the face. Neck wrinkles are happening younger because of tech neck. Plus the chest often receives much more sun damage than the face because no one ever remembers to apply skin protection there, me included. Neck lines are not caused by not cleansing- they're caused by tech neck (constantly looking down on phones, tablets), not applying actives there. The neck serum I use HAS smoothed out the horizontal neck lines I had (which other creams I used on my face didn't), and a night cream I use has plumped up my skin and has totally firmed up my jawline. I use the ones from Vertere. I also believe in using devices that make sense, like the Facial Flex; doesn't do anything for neck wrinkles, that's where my neck serum comes in.

      I was thinking the same thing. Your neck & under your eye area are different to your face.
      Thanks for mentioning the products you use :)

    I just started using the Farmacy’s “holy grail” oil. Not a cream, but I love how honey heals the skin so this is a convenient no mess option . Just found this channel and I’ll be binge watching.

      Gloria Martinez same here everything that goes on my faces goes around my eyes and my neck and chest. I have tried eye and neck creams and serums and nothing did anything except moisturize. Why waste the money

      I'm 38 and I've started trying out eye serums and creams, and I'm coming to the conclusion that my face cream works just fine for around my eyes. Particularly at night. The only type eye serum I've noticed any major difference with are the super thin morning serums that cool and depuff a bit like the one I'm using from Skyn Iceland.

      I used to follow the same one for all routine. Big mistake...Take a look at how less puffy your eyes will be when your not putting skin plumping face cream around your delicate eye area. I like to use my Mia on my neck weekly to exfoliate so the cream sinks in.

    Please stop giving misinformation about the difference in skin type from the face, neck and chest. I am a nurse Practitioner in Medical Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery for over 12 years. Your recommendations to use retinol and retin-A on the neck and chest is going to lead to a lot of women having red irritated rashes on their necks and chest, skin that is thinner and more sensitive than the face. Only diluted amounts of Retin-A or Retinol should be use on neck and chest areas. And it’s incredibly important to protect the skin with sunblock several times daily to prevent further sun damage when using these products. Thank you.

      I use my prescription Tretinoin on my neck with ease. In fact my neck is way less sensitive than my face. I definitely wouldn’t call this video misinformation, because clearly we all have different skin types, and textures, and issues that can cause all of us to react and tolerate things in a wide variety of ways.
