The St. Lawrence Market South building is a major public market building in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the southwest corner of Front and Lower Jarvis Streets. Along with the St. Lawrence Market North and St. Lawrence Hall, it comprises the St. Lawrence Market complex. Since 1803, the St. Lawrence Market has been the community’s beating heart and culinary focal point of the city of Toronto. It’s the living symbol and anchor of the neighbourhood and for the families who live here. It’s a place to connect, to share stories and of course, to taste and to discover great food. The current building was opened in 1902.

This is an example of a real urban farmer's market. There is a vendor I remember that made his own butter, and he would cut a piece from a large block. Also some great cheese shops and Portuguese bakeries. Those back bacon sandwiches were also good.
Usually packed with a multitude of activity. The St. Lawrence Market is worth seeing . A main floor a downstairs and if you like history, go up the elevator to tour the city hall that was once there.
Rated The Best Market Place In The World as per National Geographic Magazine. A must see when visiting Toronto.

I grew up in Markham, don't live there anymore. Sadly I've never been to St. Lawrence Market! I'll have to make a trip down there.
There are few points of interest just within few blocks - Gooderham Building, Berczy Park, Hockey Hall of Fame, The Distillery Historic District
