The one mistake I notice was when you said you used a hammer and a screwdriver to remove the locking ring. Never use a steel or iron device to remove the locking ring because the last thing you want to is create a spark around gas unless you have some kind of death wish. Use a wooden dowel or a brass punch. Be safe when working around gas or any type of explosive fuel.
You can order a ranch that takes that support metal ring off which is the safest way to do. Plus you didn’t show how to disconnect the top electrical connector. You already showed her it was already off. He didn’t show how to take it and remove it safely! This is no help to me.
thank you for making this video! it applied to my 2010 SE as well, only problem now is that my fuel gauge doesnt work right, lol. you saved me $1300 at a mechanic though, so thanks again!
@@johnnymora1017 my best guess is since the fuel sensor on the pumps is different than the ones on the OEM ones, it doesnt read fuel level right. I just lived with it until I traded my car in. Only way I can really think of to fix the issue is to take it to a Dodge dealership but God knows theyll either rip you off or tell you to get rid of it.

My challenger sxt plus 2017 has issues with the fuel gauge. If I have 200 miles till empty I will drive down the street about a mile and it will read 196 miles till empty do you think the fuel pump is the issue? Or if so a leak? And how can I check for a leak??
Hi Adan, I was able to smell the gasoline leak in my car when I would fill up and see the leak on the side walk, it would literally leak into the street when I would park. I wouldn't know what your issue would be, maybe call dealer services department and ask if anyone else has delt with issue and what can be done to fix. Sorry I wasn't much help on your case.
Thats yo catalyct converter, it tells the car how much gas its burning, yours probably out and your check engine light on, here in NC u gotta have that fixed to pass inspection unfortunately😑
Adan Islas my 2013 Challenger SXT has been having that issue. The MIL stays on and now I’ve had the right fuel pump replaced and a new fuel level sensor. I’m currently getting a new left fuel pump and connector put in this week. We’ll see what happens. Did you ever figure out what the problem was?
Thanks for the information. When you tied up the first fuel pump and hoses with ELECTRICAL, using a nylon type rope, you should’ve mentioned that the rope was gonna be pulled through the tank to the other side when you pull out the secondary fuel pump, because I could’ve tied it off with a rope but it could’ve been too short and of course we don’t want to have to lose the hose and have to snake it and fish it out of the fuel tank, especially if you have a quarter of a tank of fuel. But nobody’s perfect and I can see where I can do some shortcuts, I’m usually good at tying stuff off and away from the work area. I wish you would’ve showed that main fuel pump or you plugged it in and put the cap and made it complete, but you didn’t, and I didn’t notice that once you had everything put together, you started your engine up, oh well, guess I can’t ask for everything but thanks for the help.
So you pretty much ran out of gas & didn’t know it? Please let me know, mines won’t start just cranks, I’m thinking I may just need gas, but I was hearing a winding noise in the back
Yeah same here. My srt8 left me stranded. I’m replacing both pumps now. Bad thing is, I had a full tank of gas! Find a way to siphon it or you’ll end up with gas everywhere like me leak

I noticed that you didn't actually tighten the lock ring. Did you have a tough time getting it tightened? I recently changed pumps and found mine to be a bear to tighten by tapping around with a brass punch and hammer. I verified the hat was seated correctly, no wires in the way, and the Oring is in place (and the original one). I finally ordered OTC6599 in order to tighten mine.
@@doitalldad4516 I put in the A2Speed pump and it was pretty easy. The tool helped making the ring install veey easy. Without it, the ring was being a pain.
Hi kmoney2008, great question, so in my case when I would fill up on gas, I would get the small of fuel in my car and the reason was because the fuel pump was leaking fuel on the right pump. But here are some other ways it could be time to get a new one Seven Fuel Pump Warning Signs Engine Sputters at High Speeds. One of the best indicators of a failing fuel pump is found on the road while driving your car at a consistently high speed. ...Rising Temperature. ...Fuel Pressure Gauge. ...Loss of Power When the Vehicle Is Under Stress. ...Surging. ...Decreased Gas Mileage. ...Engine Will Not Start.
kmoney2008 you would have a no start condition. Remove the air intake grab some starting fluid and spray in the throttle body. While somebody is starting the car. If it starts you have a possible fuel pump problem. Another thing is find a fuel line port unscrew it and use a screwdriver to press inside. See if any fuel leaks out.
very fukin careless . too aggresive with the hoses and didnt dry the connectors before reconnect them. i also have challenger 3.6 brother , im not hating or anything in that zone. i just think you didnt do it carefully , respect the car , it will last a lifetime. much respect keep it up. also any advice or videos on changing fuel lines? e85 got the best of me. i learned the hard way, dont put it in ur car
The OEM Pump and Sending Unit are white plastic. If you notice he shows the fuel pump top is still white, while the sending unit (replaced) is stained yellow with fuel.

One other thing you didn’t mention is if it’s a good idea to change the fuel filter when you do the fuel pumps That’s a good practice?
The fuel filter is actually integrated into the fuel pump for this model
Why did you have to change both
Where can I find the FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR? Please help!!! Thank u!
How did you know which pump to replace?
Good question, even though no one answered 😮
The one with the pump is the fuel pump, the other is a fuel sending unit if im not mistaken.
