I remember watching this episode all those years ago. It was epic!! The satisfaction of watching Den throw all that cash down on Phil was pure gold!! Dirty Den was a legend! This was one of the best ever written and produced episodes of all time. Watching it again in 2024, brings back all the great memories. Thanks for the upload.
I once invited Steve to.our school as a suprise for one of my teachers he came aswell never got to meet him though the teachers closed the curtains to the staff room 😂
I don't hate Phil as a character at all, but in recent years (or fact since Steve McFadden's return from his break in 2005), I've hated the fact that he has always had to win every feud. In fact numerous other promising male characters have been ruined by the writers, with them crossing swords with Phil and inevitably coming off second best. I wonder if it's actually written into Steve McFadden's contract that his character has to win every feud these days. At least during this period in the early 00s, he had wins and losses which was much better and more interesting.
Almost every feud...Apart from this one. But it's the reason why today they've shy'd away from giving Phil and Mick a feud despite their dislike for one another - Because one of them would have to lose.
This was the best EE storyline hands down, at the time i taped it and watched it about 5 times as i laughed. I found it hilarious & brilliant how Den &Dennis worked together to frame Phil in this clever plan.
I noticed in the 18 and a half years since the armed robbery it was mentioned never since Phil came out of prison and the only time it was mentioned was when Ben told Jay about it in 2007
Den really had Phil wrapped round his little finger here. All the way through he’s playing mind games. Tricking Phil into coming without having an alibi set up, out of desperation. Running the red light. The contact being late. Putting the wrong code in. All of it to wind Phil so tight that he isn’t thinking straight and doesn’t see the betrayal coming. Don’t cross Den Watts.
And he let Phil climb halfway up the ladders before telling him he dropped the keys lol, a nice subtle little thing he did so that Phil wouldn't be thinking "this is a set up"
@@no1arab502 This was peak EastEnders. It went downhill after Den was killed off for real, and I haven't seen it for over a decade. I couldn't even tell you who is in it now, although I expect Ian Beale and Phil Mitchell are both still in it. They will be in it until they die or the BBC cancels it.
I still don't understand why Phil even agreed to go through with a heist like this, though. Did he need that kind of money for a potential court case against Lisa? I can't think of any other reason.
This was one of Den's strongest funniest moment's in EE history, it's ashame after this his character went downhill with the whole Zoe mess. But i like to remember him like this .
Phil could have just threatened to grass if he doesn’t let the ladder down, could easily have made a deal as the police already know about the 2 Denis’s criminal background- would have had to let him out
@@no1arab502 Phil doesn’t grass yet he did grass the Watts up the police twice in the previous month or so (when he lets them know Den is back in town and then when he plants drugs at the club)
I can't believe this is 21 years old. I feel so old. I remember this like it was yesterday, it's terrifying how fast time has gone.
This has to be one of my favourite eastenders episodes of all time.
Definitely one of the most memorable and exciting that’s for sure!
Same it was absolutely iconic

Phil’s got more indestructible than his Nokia 3310

That’s true tbh. They’d should try and bring back Dan Sullivan so he can have his proper revenge on Phil for framing him
Yeah

Phil has some serious plot armour

Cannot believe this was almost 18 years ago 😳😲
Thanks for the upload

Great drama ❤

Best thing they did was bring Den back

It was is hard to believe Phil would be stupid enough to trust den he would have had some form of backup plan
Never trust an East End Veteran, Phil Mitchell. Next time you should watch out.
Love the sodium amber street lamps.
Fucking hell Den proper did Phil over here, absolutely destroyed him. Only person to ever win against Phil
Dan Sullivan fucked phil over good as well and got away with it
Him and Dan Sullivan yeah

phil had this coming! he was so vile in 2002-2003. i even find it more satisfying than the 2001 shooting.
Yes, after he slapped Sharon, I couldn't wait for his comeuppance.
lmfao when phil goes mad at lisa 5:20 good days of eastenders
Done up like a kipper. Nicely played, Den.

I don't think this set up would have worked, if Grant was there.
Grant would have ran through the wall like Juggernaut lol

That was awesome!
quality episode
Will your going out with
Always thought this plot line had massive holes init but o well suspense disbelief n all dat 🤷🏽♂️
It was the best EE plot ever , seeing Phil get set up and his reaction was the icing on the cake.
Phil could have just threatened to grass if he doesn’t let the ladder down, could easily have made a deal as the police already know about the 2 Denis’s criminal background- would have had to let him out
But Den knew Phil would never grass honour between thieves and all that 😂😂

Lisa should have grabbed Louise then.
