Borodin produced many wonderful melodies and here they receive a sympathetic and very fine orchestration by a master of the art. The inclusion of the scherzo works extremely well as a finale.

Glazunov's orchestration is first-rate here. I've always found "Au Couvent" remarkable, especially its opening and closing bars where Glazunov suggests the tolling of a bell without resorting to the obvious device of using an actual bell! And, of course, Borodin's sense of melody is peerless as far as I'm concerned...

Max Merry -- 'Au Couvent' was one of the first tunes I had to learn on the piano 65 years ago....Of course, I was too young and stupid to appreciate anything in that distant convulsed era.......

I would have been about four then! My first piano primer, seven or so years later, was a set of exercises called (appropriately) "Merry Fingers"........

Звучит типично для Глазунова. Потому не могу оценить это произведение с позиций связи с произведениями Бородина. В искусстве возможны самые невозможные связи. Удивляться не стоит.
В музыкальном отношении тут все в порядке. Привет из Киева.
