Holy shit, Hayley looks so different here than she does in her solo career; I know she's the vocalist, I used to listen to the Jezabels, but revisiting this song, she looks sooo different that I could barely tell.
You care too much for that, aren't you? Some people are too concerned about what the rest of the people are listening to. So, you just listen to what you want while the "indie kids" listen this.
It's practically impossible for a creative band in the digital age to remain dark and obscure, a state some seem to desperately desire the Jezebels to remain in. For some of the duplicatory ( sic ) traits of several Jezebels tracks, their signature style and sound remains basically untarnished. A not too mean feat in this turbulent maelstrom of a music industry. Even if these songs are classified poppy, theirs is up at the high end spectrum, and few could deny that at least.
If I were Bill Gates I would help you guys financially with anything that could help spreading your music to the world but unfortunately I'm no Bill Gates or a rich guy! 😅😆 There are so many but so many injustices in this world - that made me loose faith in humanity. One of the most important ones for me as a nature lover and biologist is the fact that our planet is currently undergoing through a 6th mass extinction solely due to anthropogenic (i.e. human) causes. this is how i see it..The Jezabels have always been a pop act.. first single disco biscuit love ..pure pop sure they have an artistic side old little girls be a star early stuff and even the song prisoner is out there with the avant garde breaking boundaries but somewhere down the line bands have to eat or do the 9-5 I must ask everyone above ...how many gigs? how much merch have you bought to support their art ?...not saying you have to ...I have bought all the jezabels albums cds vinyls and dvds couple of T shirts and a T towel been to gigs from the hopetoun to the hordern 4-5 in all so i am up there with the 'Fans'..the jezabels are a very hard working independent band trying to survive against huge corporations..so what if they tap into their pop roots to broaden their audience ..pop sells internationally...IMO hayleys manic lyrics and style will always be unique ..boutique bands are fine if people support them if not to survive they have to reach a market...anyway I like the clip
This is definitely THE END for the Jezabels. Horrible, toothless, commercial, and pretentious. What has happened? The new album is an atrocity. The new videos are a disgrace: cliche attempts at trying to make themselves look like rock stars. It is embarrassing that a band that started so strong, with a kind of impressive depth and power which had its own modesty about it, has devolved into a sickening, saccharine, commercial project. And they are flaunting this puerile nonsense at us like they are doing us a favour. What a shame. I'm reminded of people who are in denial of a foolish purchase they have made, and so parade around with it, unable to face the reality that they have wasted a huge amount of money on something ridiculous. And so it is with Jezabels. I only hope they are mature enough to see what a mistake this new direction has been for them and that they return to their pre-Brink successes, which, perhaps did not bring them the recognition they deserve, but were immensely preferable to the exposure they will now receive with this current work, which will only embarrass them later, and ruin their credibility with their informed, serious listeners.
