Hearing a Minecraft UA-camr talk about such real shit, about struggles and life and discipline really just opened my eyes to the fact that the creators that I watch are real people like me and that is a really strange and wonderful thing to think about. Anyways, good on you for making good choices, keep grinding homie.

Honestly hearing this feels like a reflection of my life sb was a great escape, but it wont last forever. I'm also graduating this year from hs, being banned from sb last year was a real good wakeup call for me, both physically and academically after the ban expired I had a whole new set of priorities already, barely care about sb anymore even though it felt like the world to me just a few years ago and now im preping to study at a top 40 uni now and its been much more healthier overall for me to have a new focus than just stats in a block game.

As a kid who loved to play minecraft to now a 24 year old strength and conditioning coach, I can personally attest to this. I have coached athlete groups who had kids who were so isolated due to covid and lived most of their life online. They came in to the gym shy and were only there cause their parents signed them up. Over the next few weeks they were there, they created relationships with the other kids, and now ride home with them to hang out and such. The importance of going out and socializing is critical especially at a young age. Go out and find something that brings you joy and I guarantee you, you will find much more fulfillment than an online game.

Lowkey this is the most relatable video I've seen all year 2 years ago I was sad, skinny fat and hella addicted to skyblock and valorant but after a while of trying and failing to get into better shape I finally managed to get out of my unhealthy habits and enter the gym for the first time since then I've bulked up from 140 all the way to 190 at 5'6 started to cut, rebuilt connections I lost over the pandemic, graduated hs and I'm looking and feeling the best I've ever been in my entire life video games can be fun for a bit but you always have to put your health and sanity first. I hope this video reaches the right people and remember its never too late to make change.

Had a similar experience in January earlier this year. Since then I’ve gotten into the best shape of my life. I did quit all video games for a while, but over time I’ve incorporated games and Skyblock back in. As long as everything is handled with discipline and control it can be beneficial.

    • @chimdot

Similar experience with me during Covid. 2021 I was just online from 2pm till 3 am and then sleep and repeat. Over the past three years I slowly began to be more active, and then started working out about a year and a half ago. Honestly the video games just didn’t entice me as much when I was filling my days with other things. Now I hop on a couple hours a week but with balance

I wont lie this vid was more inspirational/effective for me than any other vid ive seen on this topic (ive strugled with getting out of video games and getting in the gym for years now, and most videos ive saw on it end in me saying something to the effect of "nah thats bs" or "no thats not how that works, video games dont have a negative effect on me" but this really had me reconsidering things)
Maybe it holds more value because i used to watch ur channel, i dont really know, but something about this vid was really moving

I don't play skyblock often anymore, but honestly stuff like that's all I have in my life. I'm fat as fuck for example, I've wanted to lose weight since I was a little kid, I didn't start trying until I was about 13, I had some problems growing up, especially early teens, and I could never fully commit to it, this is all super cringe to say but without the food I just lose one of the only things that made me happy in life, and substitute it with working out , something I've never enjoyed doing and hate it, I don't have much else in my life to fill in the gaps, all my friends are from skyblock online even though I hardly play it, I can't do well socially, I am addicted to some things that if I lose, I'll lose the little things that made my life worth living. I don't wanna live a life I hate all the time. Ive even attempted suicide twice before, I just don't really have anyone or anything that makes me happy, and I've tried to get into stuff but it never really works out, and both times I tried to kms noone in my family cared, they never really have, except my mother and I'm appreciative of that. Whenever I try to get on self improvement and cut out the bad stuff I just end up hating my life more, there's nothing enjoyable about it. I hate the life I'm living despite that.

This video resonated with me a lot. As someone who has been dealing with/in the middle of a complex family situation that affected me immensely for multiple years now, through all my teenage years and to the current day (just graduated hs like you). On top of that, dealing with diagnosed depression disorder and anxiety disorder (primarily social anxiety) that I deal with and fight through every single day all day, I used skyblock as a tool to escape from reality for a few years until November 2022, playing for 16-18 hours a day and skipping school almost every day. Until one day I recognized that there were other things I might've wanted to do, like started working out (started in november 2022, still going strong just not as consistently as I'd like to lol), talking to more people, going to school consistently. I had quit skyblock cold turkey and couldn't be more grateful I had done that. You are a great example of someone who did not let his difficult circumstances which he is not in control of, control his life. You took matters into your own hands and you are winning in life through all the shit that it gave you. I hope you realize how strong of a person you are. What you did is amazing and I am so proud of you and grateful to you that you are spreading this important message that more people need to hear of "Happiness truly lies in your own hands". I really hope you get to see this comment because you need to hear that you are amazing and so strong for not letting your circumstances, that most people your age will not even THINK about going through, take control of your life. Truly amazing.

15:00 the way u explain telling other ppl your goals and then those goals loose their value is literally 100% the same way i always explained this. because of this I mostly stopped talking about things i plan to do, rather i talk about or show stuff i already did. because if i tell ppl about plans i didn't realize yet, it feels like i have an obligation to really do it - not because i am motivated to do it myself, but because others expect me to do that, because i told them i plan to.

bro stopped sweating dungeons and started sweating life💀
all jokes aside, really good for you bro, I also had some similar situations with a specific hobby completely consuming my life. when I was in ninth grade I came to the US for a sabbatical year my dad had from the uni he teaches in (I am a US citizen but wasn't born there nor do I live there), that was during Covid-19 so it sucked, and I kinda spiraled into a depressed state and basically failed every class I had that year, I was also in a math program that i was forced to leave due to the timezone difference.
before we came back we went to Ithica and my dad showed my around cornell which is where he did undergrad and I just decided to set my sights on admission into cornell, that ended up not happening, due to my countries' mandatory military service.
But that change of mindset really allowed me to grow in other directions, I fixed my grades and just graduated with what would be the equivalent of a 4.0+ Gpa, went back to piano, got a girlfriend a year later and sustained a relationship of a year and a half with her, and became top 3 in my country for speedsolving rubik's cubes (my pfp kinda gives that away tho).
Bottom line is, that in life balance is key, its not specifically about videogames or alcohol or drugs, you just can't allow one hobby, or one person define who you are, and you can't be dependent on one thing in your life, having a lot of hobbies or things that you do really allows you to grow as a person.
From my experience dog multiple things also feels good, and when you get bored or tired of one of your hobbies you can just take a break and do something else, which both makes you enjoy your hobbies for more extended periods of time and just makes you a more interesting person overall.
I'm very happy for you bro, keep it up!

I think everyone's life have slowly been changing, I've been playing the game itself for solid 2 years straight. I had a lot of fun majority of the times but I've just lost a lot of motivation playing the game when your friends is either quitting/leaving in general. But overall I don't think playing the game alone is not fun but it's our mind could make us change as a human being. So, I'm really grateful to be able to play the game 2 years ago and meeting a bunch of new friends and etc.

It’s videos like this that make me so glad that my one and only solo profile got ratted because I was also addicted to skyblock.
The most fun was dungeons because you got to play this really cool system that didn’t feel like as much of a grind as slayers for example. And I also met a lot of friends in dungeons and skyblock in general. It was sad when my profile got deleted because I knew I wasn’t gonna be able to play with my friend. But, as I got older I realised that it was consuming too much of my time and I wasn’t a huge fan of the direction skyblock was going with really really really long grinds in every aspect of the game. It’s relieving to know that I’m not the only old school player who quit and that’s there’s many many many other OG players from 2019 that have also quit due to various reasons.
Congrats on the gym progress. 315 bench when?

Honestly some of the best advice I've heard in a long time. I hate having to say this because most of the time when people do, they never follow through on it... but I'll follow through with all this later. I've been making sure I get some exercise in at home and it's helped significantly physically and mentally, but I'm not really in any position where I can go outside and meet people.

This video was almost a reflection of my internal monologue, Ive been going to the gym on and off for half a year or so and have found it hard to find motivations, with video games being a sort of comfort from my childhood. This video is definitely the most resonating "insperational" video I've seen due to how oddly similar of a circumstance and stage of my life I seem to be in.

one of the most W videos i've seen recently. I relate to some of the stuff you said a lot, so much to the point that it gets suspicious lol.
I'm 15 and i've also been trying to quit video games recently. cutting off my gaming time by like 60% already made a HUGE difference, i finally have a hobby (music) and my social life, even though still isnt perfect, has gotten about a fuckton better. I feel like this not only applies to skyblock, but every video game that's addicting/creates some kind of long-lasting attachment. 80% of the time spent playing the game is completely wasted time that one could've spent improving one's life in some way. People need to realize that the real fun in life isnt all rainbows, sunshine and staying in a comfortable place all the time, rather it is found after putting in some work etc. there has to be a contrast to happiness in order for it to exist. I just graduated 8th grade (in poland that's end of elementary school, and after that is high school) and i want to spend hs as well as possible, unlike the past few years. My 8th grade exam results are tomorrow (well, today.. ah shit its already midnight) so hopefully i'm gonna get the results that I anticipated and go to a good hs.
So happy seeing people like you getting their life somewhat in order, stay on the grind brah!

Yea, Honestly I've been doing the same as you, quiting skyblock to try and improve my life by going to the gym and making money. Also trying to get a girl 💀(that's not going to well) Skyblock just ruined my social skills and also I was always bullied when I was in school 3-6 grade, then I kinda stopped going to school I almost failed my classes but since I am pretty ok at remembering things I was able to watch some videos about the school subjects so I was able to pass my classes. Skyblock is an easy way out, but its not the right one...learn from people who has made the mistake and dont make it yourself. Because I was barely at school I was almost never bullied after the 6th grade, then in 9th grade I finally decided to start changing my life and go to the gym also making money so my life rn is pretty ok (I still play skyblock from time to time but now its like 1-2 hour sessions)

I was chronically on skyblock for about 3 years and i decided to focus my energy into after school activities and going to the gym. It really helped me learn to take care of my self. While I may not have had the same results as you (60 POUND DIFFERENCE IS CRAZY GOOD JOB MAN HOLY) but I can definitely look back and say I've been able to work on myself as a person instead of spending so much time on skyblock.

When I first started playing skyblock, I really loved it cause I was figuring stuff out and it was an adventure with a whole lot of discovery. Now I’m at the point where whatever progression I want to make is softlocked behind coins or a 10 hour grind. It’s just not much fun for me anymore. I still play sometimes, but the only time I play is when my friends are on and we’re all playing together. I’m kinda glad it happened though because now that I’ve drifted away from the game I’m having more fun in my normal life. I’ve started thinking a lot as well and a big revelation for me was that in 100 years, a lot of the stuff I do won’t matter at all. No one a century from now is going to look back and say “wow, what ugly clothes he wore that day”. Skyblock stats won’t matter in history, and I shouldn’t waste my life trying to improve them. I’m still pretty young and don’t have my whole life figured out yet, but im getting to the age where I’m looking at colleges and trying to figure myself out. I want to make a lasting impact on the world, but I don’t know how I’m going to do that yet. Thanks for reading my essay, have a GREAT day ❤

biggest tip is find something to healthily replace that addiction whether that be focusing on studying or the gym or something in that sort of area find something that you can obsess enough over to kick the old addiction, you’ll never be able to control the addiction if the situation never changes, it’s like rolling a random dice but it’s all the same side and expecting a different number

I feel a huge reason why people get addicted aswell is because of young age because I had started playing at 9 now im 14 I know still young but kids use it as just a thing to do because trust me when I was playing 10 hour days I had the feeling of I know its bad but its fun, and now going into highschool I realize it opens opportunities to join more sports, clubs, socialize more, and go to the gym and from what I know highschool and college are the funnest years of peoples lives and I don’t want to miss that for skyblock.

  • @Bmboo_
    @Bmboo_ 2 місяці тому

Too many people see this game as an all or nothing kinda thing, and it's just an endless cycle, I spent ages trying to get a better skill average, or more money, higher sb level etc, but in reality people are so addicted to this game that they'll spend hundreds of hours on mindnumbingly tedious repetitive parts of the game they don't like, because it'll give them more stats. I kinda always try to only play the parts of the game I actually enjoy, and for me that means I play almost not at all anymore. The friendship and community aspect of dungeons was what really got me into sb, and without that anymore I just don't have a drive to play.

gaming is a great hobby. you can to sit down and relax while enjoying a game with people.
Problem lies when individuals such as myself end up playing too much. I used to have not many friends and relied on playing games online with ONLINE friends. It was a great place of escape. But you need to come to realize that at one point, youre going to have to change.
My best advice is to try your best to make friends. Get close to them and hangout with them. Stop playing games as a way of escape; only as a way of short bursts of enjoyment. Leave the house more and go to the gym. I’ve been consistently going to the gym for about 1.5 years and seeing my numbers on lifts go up is magnitudes more enjoyable than virtual coins.
Trust me in this. If you keep yourself locked up in virtual heaven, youre going to regret it. As I am now. Being healthy and getting shit done in life is much more satisfying. Good luck yall.
Edit: As i keep watching the video, I realize how much average relates to my past and current life. Just last year I couldnt even bench 95lbs. And I weighed like 100lbs. Now im here benching 215lbs at 145lbs body weight and it makes me so much happier than skyblock would ever have.
My addiction to skyblock and games in general used to he so bad that I kept putting off getting my drivers license. Quitting skyblock alone isnt going to help. quit gaming like youre preaching a religion. Going to uni, getting a job, driving around and hanging out with friends is such a better life.
