- Gateway Church founder and senior pastor Robert Morris resigned amid sexual abuse allegations. One accuser claims Morris molested her when she was 12 years old.
It’s good he resigned. Plus the church might not have as many people anymore after hearing this. He still should get charged though.

Apparently ONLY yourself has this version. Besides it practically impossible for her to have spoken to the entire HUGE congregation. Impossible. Don't forget Dr Robert Morris himself is the President, Founder, General overseer and Presiding Most senior Pastor of that Church Congregation. In order Word you don't get up and speak without his Authorization. There is no way this version of your story can be Factual --unless the woman herself is a current member of his congregation and has testified to CONFIRM she was indeed a YOUNG LADY at the time of the event( 35-40 years ago) NOT a young girl.

Agree that the pastor should be held accountable, but don't judge another man just because he is related. He didn't do the crime. God said that vengeance is His so let God be the judge so that we don't also commit a sin as well. The same God also said that he sees no one sin greater than another. Meaning Pastor Morris's sin of abuse would not be seen as worse than our judgment of him or the son of Pastor Morris. Let's allow God to be the son's judge.

Report abuse to the police, not the church, university, or place of employment. Catholics did this decades with no action taken by the Roman Catholic Church. It’s a crime, not just a sin.

The fact that he was allowed to resign rather than being fired reveals a lot about the church. It’s an abomination.
I understand he was already in the process of handing over leadership to his Son before the story precipitated an expedited retirement. You can't fire him- It's his Ministry he is the President, General Oversea and Founder of the Church --and led the congregation as the Most senior Pastor for years.

Very sad for the now-wounded-again church! Nothing against his son, but believe he could possibly serve in a lesser role, but not as senior pastor. Also, they should change the name of the church or break it up, forever tarnished as Gateway.

Why was he allowed
to retire instead of being fired? He committed a heinous crime, he lied repeatedly about it and yet is still not facing any consequences. Shameful and a further affront to his victim. In addition to this incident, a thorough investigation of other possible victims of this man during his tenure need to be thoroughly investigated. Ultimately, he will answer to God.

I feel pretty conflicted myself, but I do believe it happened. I believe her, and when I listen to him, I really do hear a man that has heard from God before, but if this is coming to a head now, that obviously means something was not resolved by one or both parties. Very conflicting since we don't know what is not resolved.
