Thank you for the video. I'm new to the world of web design and am just starting to build an author's website.
I'm mostly learning as I go, but so far things are fine. Something I've noticed is that OLD videos that show how to create Squarespace websites often become ineffective as Squarespace upgrades its features and tools.
As such, I'm a little curious as to how to make a mailing list: a list of subscribers that I can email whenever I have updates about my books or other projects.

Ah, yes! It can be tricky to keep content updated when Squarespace is busy rolling out new and awesome features on the daily! I recently rerecorded my entire Square Secrets course for that very reason! So now students have access to materials teaching them to use both 7.0 and 7.1!
Oh, and great question about building an email list! Definitely a fabulous future video topic to add to my list, but in the meantime, here's a few blog posts I've written that you may find helpful!!

Hi, thanks for your videos. I'm getting ready to build the site for my Stained Glass business (focusing on Tiffany lamp design, construction and reproduction work) using SquareSpace. I have quite a few goals for my site, including general marketing, showing my talents and trying to generate commission work, showing the glass I use & stock to attempt to get more customers to visit my studio and purchase glass & supplies and lastly to let customers know about my class offerings and hopefully get them to sign-up online. Stainrd glass isn't cheap to start with and I really focus on higher-end glass & supplies that I know produces premium results. I want to integrate a blog into my site to allow me to share some of my knowledge and hopefully generate more customers. Do you have any tips on integrating SquareSpace blogs and ways to best make use of it? I've been away from the business during the COVID situation and am looking to get it moving again now that the pandemic is winding down.
The biggest issue I fear is that my site design will become large & hard to use due to the multiple goals I need to fulfill. Can you offer any advice on the best ways to setup a design with multiple goals? I'm also interested in the SquareSpace class widget and was wondering if you have any experience with that and can provide any tips and/or things to be careful about? I'm also considering integrating an eCommerece approach to allow me to do online sales. I've sold glass & supplies on eBay for years but it's difficult to stay competitive given the cut-throat approach on eBay (everyone wants something for nothing) and the high fees. What are your feelings on the SquareSpace eCommerce package? Any issues with usability? Any tips to get the most from this?
I'm working through your checklist & starting to put together the answers to the design questions you've outlined. I'd appreciate ny additional advice you can share to help me to make reasonable choices as I start and allow me to design and get the most from SquareSpace. Thanks.
