Superman & Lois have handled "The Death of Superman" so much better than the DCU movies. There have been real emotional stakes in bringing Superman back.
Agreed. There's so much more impact of Superman's death in this for many reasons, but the one that stands out to me is Lois' and the boys' reactions. Very believable and heartbreaking.
As you say, this show is so well written-the misdirection, the twists-I really didn’t see Sam’s death coming, especially after he was saved in the first episode. Bitsy’s husband directed it-maybe that’s why her performance was even more stellar than usual! Such a powerful ending. I have loved Dylan Walsh’s portrayal of Sam and am so going to miss him, but they gave him a worthy sendoff. The ending killed me, realizing who the title “Always My Hero” really referred to.
Bitsy just killed it in this episode. You just BELIEVE that she's really grieving for Clark/Superman and her father. I've watched a few reaction videos to this episode, and each time when we get towards the end (not going to spoil it in the comments) I could have sworn I heard echoes of Hans Zimmer's "Man of Steel" theme in the music as Lois was speaking. In other places, too. Just phrases that pop up in the music. Did anyone else notice that?
Bitsy has been a powerhouse throughout the whole series, but especially this season! The absence of Clark really give her opportunity to shine, and I keep saying this, but there's a reason this show is called Superman and LOIS! Ooo, normally I pick up on music cues, so I'll have to go back and see if I notice them as well! That would be very cool if they've utilized Hans Zimmer's score!
I thought it was a brilliantl episode. I really thought it was Clark's funeral at the beginning. I was surprised that you were more excited about Clark's Reveal than Jonathan's powers emerging. I wish that had a bigger budget to show Jonathan flying around the world. Poor Jordan, they're making him doubt himself. Lex Luthor must've had the worst attorney in history. I miss seeing your reactions. I stumbled on this one by accident. You are still doing a great job.
James! Great to see you back here! Agreed, I would've loved to see more of Jonathan's powers if they had the budget. And yes, Jordan is definitely having a terrible run this season. Hopefully he gets a happy ending within the show. Appreciate the kind words! I miss doing the Expanse, I still mean to bring it back (one day!)
That's what I thought when I first heard John L. Jones although it sounded more like Jonel Jones. Especially since in the Supergirl series John Jones was disguised as Hank Henshaw, I thought he was this this universe's counterpart.
Definitely brought back memories of Supergirl and Smallville for me, and who knows - maybe it will grow into something more, or maybe it's just an easter egg / nod for the fans
I'm so so so upset that this is the last season....hate you gunn!!!!!This show is so amazing,I believe when Clark's mom said that there could be complications i believe that at the end this will turn human
While I don't hate Gunn (and I'm really looking forward to what he does with Superman) I definitely am sad this is the final season. Ooo, that's definitely an interesting theory! Does turning human mean he loses all his powers, or just some (e.g, indestructability?)

DC"E"U. They did it terribly. The DCU hasn't started yet, so we'll see how *they* handle it.
@jeannguyen3199 when the dcu covers that story it will probably be years from now. And more of a justice league event movie.

Most likely, yeah. 🤔

One of the best CW shows ever and they had the gall to cancel it. I'm just happy we got this last season instead of it just being flat out cancelled.
Agreed, so glad they get to go out on (mostly) their own terms

What an amazing episode
Absolutely agreed

Man this Lex Luthor is pretty good at being evil! This season so far has been so amazing to watch 👍
He's definitely the most threatening Lex we've had. Other Lex's have their unique traits, but Cudlitz's is so so menacing!
