The Jelly Star is legendary. I wish Unihertz would continue with that form factor. They went big again with the new jelly pro. Thanks for introducing the Titan though!
Never had a blackberry, but wished they came out with a new one now, non-android/non-ios. But my real desire would be the old gsm nokia E60/70 series with the qwerty. Just upgrade it to work on modern networks then add native gps, voicechat, and videochat apps then upgrade the email, text and browser app. Plain communication device with gps directions and a browser for other necessities like pulling up plane, concert, parking, and restaurant ticket/reservations, etc.
I have the unihertz titan pocket and I switch back to it every now and then. But I don’t like the hardness of the keys. I also have the blackberry classic and it is a noticeable difference. The keys are light and easy to push down. It feel like you type faster on the BB. Also the black berry was build for a square phone so everything was perfect. The track pad allows you to “scroll” and click without having to touch the screen. It had an actual function. The unihertz TP just feels like a generic android interface shrunk down to fit a square screen. There’s no control or functionality that the key board like the BB has. All in all, it’s a great keyboard phone for 2024 still but gosh do I miss the BB.
I'm using both a Key2 LE (Red!) and a Titan Slim (the follow-up to this TItan Pocket) now. I find the keyboard the most challenging on the Slim...but after about a week, I got just as fast as on my iphone or Key2. As for "waterproof" or dust proofing...who really cares? How many of us really go swimming with our phone? Rain and even 5-second inadvertent drops into a kitchen bowl full of water haven't affected its functionality at all. As for Android whatever as opposed to the latest version, it really doesn't matter to me. If anyone wants to really hack me, they can do it regardless of what version I am running. It will just take a few weeks/months to hack into the latest version if it was just released. Go for the Titan Slim !!
Still using keyone with android 8 in 2024. Security is unexistent but the phone is still going! Security could be a problem but depends how obscure are the things you do
Unihertz announced they'll release a 5g version in 2025... I've had keyOne/Two, Titan OG, Pocket and Slim, my favorite was the Pocket, so I'm holding out for a 5g Pocket.
I still have a Blackberry Passport (as such, I opted for the original chonky Titan), and the keyboards do feel quite different. The Titan's is stiffer, and muscle memory from the Passport isn't directly portable to the Titan. The similarities between the Titan and Blackberry originals is, unfortunately, entirely superficial. That isn't to say that Titan is bad, from from it; it's fine for its use-case. But it's as you said; these are not video-media consumption devices, and their cameras are pretty terrible (even by Blackberry standards). The main things I like about the Titan OG (the big one) are the incredible battery life - regularly get 3-5 days between charges - and the keyboard. A quick point on the keyboard too is that it is slower typing than pure touch, but it has the advantages of higher accuracy and the ability to type mostly without looking at your thumbs as you type. After a couple of weeks, I was able to hit about 50ish WPM, excellent accuracy, and mostly touch type (not look as I'm typing). This last point is the one I really enjoy. I love how you speak, BTW, very clear, precise, and relaxed. Great review, so I subbed. Keep up the great work.
I used to own blackberries. My first one is a curve 8320 then bold 9000 then storm 9500. I then moved to the iphone 4. The bold 9000, 9900 and blackberry classic are "lakas makasushal" back then lol.
Hey, could you let us know how exactly you manage fed to navigate to the App Drawer function? This is the only review that mentions that and it’s hard to find the option in menu
as much as i love phones with querty layouts and i considered many times to buy a unihertz phone, i can't enjoy the placement of the keys as you critized and imo the device doesn't feel right for me like a blackberry back in the days. i will still stick for the next years with my pixel 7. still great video, i really enjoy your content keep up ❤
I had the Titan Pocket before seeing it in your channel or others because I was intrigued by the idea of androids with physical buttons after playing around with and navigating on so many android handhelds with the controls instead of the screen Not really a digital minimalist myself but found I could even set it up to emulate old games and be controlled with the WASD lol. Interesting to see your perspective on using it, if you want to know about other "dumb phone androids" there's also the CAT S22 Flip which is pretty shockingly cheap in comparison to the Titan Pocket, no keyboard but you can still navigate with the physical buttons which is cool.
i was considering the unihertz titan pocket, but the keyboard layout is a deal-breaker. the spacebar sharing a row with other keys is awkward; it needs its own dedicated row. i’m used to the physical layout of a blackberry keyboard; they're perfect.
Like 👍 #196... I purchased both. The big one went comatose, and the Pocket battery swelledl up. I do still use the Pocket as a remote control, so they're not a total waste. The cameras are mediocre. Your results may vary.
I always wanted a blackberry but I was way too young when they came out I didn’t even think about having a phone. I was playing outside with friends and having so much energy to play games and outside playtime.
Blackberry didn't do much but what it did do worked well until the bitter end and I still, to this day, miss mine. This looks like an "okay" knockoff but I just can't stand Android so it's a no-go for me.
Owned several Blackberry, loved them. Just playing with Blackberry Priv. It won’t load some apps as it is Android 6. Will the Titan update to latest Android version?
pretty sure this is going to be stuck at Android 11 for the foreseeable future unless you install a custom ROM. At least for now the apps are all still mostly supported but not sure how long this will last.
I wrote a long comment about this phone (moddable in a very difficul way, not reccomanded) and about our phone in common, pixel 7a... this phone is very simple to mod to put in grapheneos via web and a cable with simplistic method (only 3-4 click on windows and chrome), graphene have more update and security than all other smatphone, mod and also pixel phone itself. I suggerest to use pixel w/graph for very useful security features and google, android 14 and all do you want.
I miss my BlackBerry
I still have a key two
Love it
I guess you must enjoy your new iPhone

My main gripe is software support, at least 3 years would have been nice!
92’ born here. just tired of carrying around these huge phones and no I don’t want a iPhone mini or se. I want this phone 😅

It’s definitely gives me a blackberry feel I use one for work if it was more up-to-date

Where did they mention the year? They keep singing the same song since last 6 months.

Really helpful video! Would love to see an upgrade from unihertz, but for my purposes of reducing screen time the qwerty keyboard wins.
How is using functional apps on the go? Uber, google maps for finding a route?
Thinking about getting one!!

It's a shame blackberry dipped out of the market when they did. If they came back with a simple android classic now it'd sell incredibly well

This can only be used on Verizon and T-Mobile

@@PGBlanks I had to join the iPhone cult with my work phone so to stay within one ecosystem, my personal phone is one as well.
Are the Nokia qwerty phones like the Asha or E series not any better? Or is this Titan pocket the best out there right now?
