Not sure if anyone gives a shit but if you're stoned like me atm then you can watch pretty much all of the new series on instaflixxer. Been streaming with my brother during the lockdown xD
I just used a heat gun in combination with rubbing in leather conditioning oil so it didn't dry out on my 40 year old leather seats to get out wrinkles & it worked! I'd say it reduced the wrinkles by about 70%! :)
People always say the leather is sagging.... that is so far from reality. It's actually the cheap foam compressed under it... the "cheap foam" expands from the heat and takes the shape closer to the original stitching of the leather. Leather doesn't shrink or expand in cold or heat like synthetic materials, and will last forever in a controlled environment. That is why real leather is expensive. Just for fun sometime you have some Styrofoam packaging, pound a big dent in it without cracking it. Hit it with that heat gun... Abracadabra... looks good as new. But don't be fooled. It loses its integrity and the first time someone sits on it... call it memory foam.. it compresses as before immediately. Great if you're selling a couch... tell them they can't sit on it until they get it home.
Thanks for the video! It worked! I steam cleaned the black leather with orange stitching in my 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL with Touring Package and S-AWC today and wow! I have had it almost 6 months and by using my steamer and cloth pad on the seats the leather looks like the day I bought it. Its smooth, soft and has a matte finish again. Oh and it took a small crease out and tightened a tiny bit of stretching from my butt on driver seat. Awesome video thank you!
Hi there , I was thinking of how to straighten wrinkled leather in door panels where the airbag is and wonder if this works Have you seen on MBenz sl500 04 ? . Thank you great idea .. Do you have another idea than heat ?
I've sat on the seat about twice after doing this and to be honest, it is deforming, but not as much as before (i.e. before state). Someone recommended that you need to steam the seat foam under it. This is a lot of work, though I may try it one day and report back! Though if you have perforated seat leather like here, then maybe applying more steam to it would help form back the foam below. Thanks for watching!
My question would be if you have seat warmers under that leather,...would applying that hot heat ruin the electric heating system under the leather?......
I don’t think so. I don’t have a heat gun but I use hair dryer to remove indentation on my bmw i8 and Mercedes c63 both cars have seat warmers. I remember seeing a video I think it was the Porsche factory, they use metal heat sticks(if I remember correctly) to remove the crease/dent marks on new leather seats that are going into new cars on the production line.
I have a somewhat compromised bolster on the driver seat. Thinking I'll try this. I saw people really bringing the foam back with steamers but I didn't wanna tear the seat apart to get directly to the bolster foam an reshape it
i saw that you can to it with some microfiber, and like boiled the microfiber clolth in water, and like that hot,you put it in area where you need it.so one qvestion, can that work on fake leather, also problem,on setting part like yours, but i dont thing its real leather.
Omg is this permanent ?? I have a heat gun and steam machine too really interested because it will save me $$$$$ was looking into getting a new bottom part seat
No it's is not. It's only temporarily expanding the cheap foam underneath it... it will look great until the first time someone sits on it... then back to like before. If not the first time. Very quickly for sure. So if you wanted a new bottom for comfort, this will do you no good. If it's for looks, it's a great temporary fix if you need to make a great first impression
Don't let the dust and grit build up in your seats. As you get in and out and move around in the seat, that grit acts as little teeth, biting into the leather and seam threads.
Really wish the OP would come back with how the seats held up over time after doing this! I would think your drying out the leather prematurely and causing more harm than good. Even with conditioning afterwards its like adding 5+ yrs of sun/ heat damage.... There's no magic for damaged leather unfortunately.
I would think the same thing, you're temporarily tightening the leather...sit in it a few times and it will quickly stretch back out. I think the only way to eliminate it completely is to unstitch and take in the slack...which would be a monster pain in the but. Applying heat like that is a tricky situation...you can easily burn the leather as he noted...so it's a bit risky to do. Burn the leather and you will be VERY upset...but I think it could be fixed as well if you accidentally did that...just not easily.
@@tgyr5 I'm not buying that. Hair driers get pretty damn hot. And you're not looking to burn the seat. If you can hold your hand in front of a hair dryer for only a short time before it starts burning like hell, it's plenty hot enough.
Never start heating directly at the creases. Be sure to start away from it and work your way into and around it. That's the reason your creases are still visible. 9 years experience heating leather airplane seat covers.
If you have nice leather its best to keep a small vac and bottle of leather cleaner and conditioner so the leather doesn't crack . If you want to take it a step further you can ceramic coat the interior so it be protected longer and easy to clean

I wiped about every 20 seconds with a damp microfiber cloth while applying heat. Worked really well.
Well done, keeping it moist is the key to shrinking the wrinkles.
This has to be one of the greatest videos I have seen in a while. Thank you. Subscribed
well, hi did not get rid of lines on sides, so its pretty bad actually.
it would be impossible to get rid of all the creases without damaging the leather
Saving this so I can restore the seats on my used car when I get it soon. Thanks for making this, it was really helpful without being too long.
I did the heat gun on my sagging seat bottom and it was gone but appear back even worse sag in it 2-3 weeks afterwards!😫
Your instructions helped great in helping me to restore the seats on my Infiniti. How long would you recommend letting the seat cool before use?
Very clever , do you think it will work on door panels as well ? How did it hold up after you started using it ? Thank you you made the seat like new

Of course leather stretches. How do you think it fits round a big cow
@@winedrinker69that’s not leather , that’s skin 😅
Tryed this worked a treat untill I sat on it again now looks the same as it did
Awesome short term solution, if you don't change the cushion first, you ll be back where you started pretty soon!

Would this hypothetically work on leather shoes that are sagging ? And would a hair blower still be not hot enough?
I do love videos like this. Repairing things is so good fun. Always amazing what you can do with a heat gun and the right attitude
Thanks for the video!! It worked on my car not so much on the lines but did take the sagging out.
Tony Holmes does it effect the leather in any way?
Thank you sir. Absolutely brilliant video. Clear concise and not too long.👏🏻👍🏻👊🏻
I used to heat gun the seats for a well known car company but we had 45 seconds per seat!
If you do this every couple months would it prevent from getting the wrinkles? Or does using the leather cleaning and conditioner help prevent this?
Looks like it picked up the black dye vs dirt.
Will it affect the heating in the heats?? This isnt long term repair??
Does this technique work with alcantera?
question is how long will this last.. before the tightening wears off.. due to repeatitive seating
How long does it last on average?
Would a good hair dryer work?
This is great! But one question! How long till the sagginess and creases come back again?
First time you sit on it
LOL looks like the exact seat I am trying to fix. ISF right?
Hi there , I was thinking of how to straighten wrinkled leather in door panels where the airbag is and wonder if this works Have you seen on MBenz sl500 04 ? . Thank you great idea .. Do you have another idea than heat ?
Will this method work with non-perforated car seats or home sofas?
Nate Bee yes leather is leather 🙂
So how long do the results last?

Probably not but would make a big difference

Came looking, to do it for my car and it's the same seats great
This is a good video! Thanks for sharing! I will be using this method soon.
Is this seat pure leather of clear coated leather?
Wonderful video! I’m going to try this on my drivers seat in my car!✨
I tried the method and it works for the moment, but it gets back to the baggy state after I sit on it.
What do you do if you leave the heat in one spot for too long? Leather has gone hard
Oof
Simple. Replace leather.
My dog has made a few superficial scratches in one of my leather seats in the back how can I fit it without cutting through the leather
Hey just wanted to say thanks. Really great information.
I just did the same thing to my leather car seat, and it did nothing at all... Tips?
Do you know what temperature the gun was set too?
Sorry, don't remember the temp, but lowest heat setting
Thanks for the video, I'll try for the heatgun for my saggy leather problem
Works a treat on the wife’s arse and front apron. So pleased I’ve stared reading books again before lights out. 👍🏻

Damp leather will stretch and sag. Also shrinks easily with some humidity and heat A hairdryer is hot enough, just don't heat too much in one spot.
Can a clothes steamer work as well?
Yes
Do I have to wait a certain amount of time before sitting in the seat? My dip and wrinkle keeps coming back
Yes, for as long as you don’t want the dip and wrinkles to come back, don’t sit on the seat.
Can you do this with a hair dryer?
Not enough heat
Great video! I will try this over the weekend.
Don't let the dust and grit build up in your seats. As you get in and out and move around in the seat, that grit acts as little teeth, biting into the leather and seam threads.
Do they go bad to how to used to be? After you sit on them for the first time
Can you just use a hair dryer?

You’re right. This is horrible to do to leather.
Steam will damage the leather, use mink oil and low heat, hair dryer
@Ptyty curious, have you personally tried this? What was your results? Long term effects? Thanks!
Awesome video what kind of heat gun did you use ?
Thanks! Any heat gun would do. I got one linked in the description below as an example. They are pretty cheap at my local hardware store.

I would never buy a leather seat car again. The fabric lasts and hold up so much more and better
Could a hairdryer produce the same effect?
No, it's not hot enough.

creases are damage, not sagging, nothing but restoring them will remove that. Those perfs look clogged AF
