I'm no F1 fan, but I own more than one RC F1 car. I always found myself driving them in supermarket car parks, contendingcwith gravel patches and bumps. My overriding memory is how quickly they let go when you pass the limit, and how hard it was to regain control once the backvend whipped round.
The perfect pass web site, he has a launch module that let's you controll how the car spools up. It's perfect for that car. He also has one on his F1 car, the same exact car. With the modual there so mutch more control.
Change the sock oil all round and the diff oil. Someone already said tire warmers they’re a must for outdoors. Find a nice surface HRA is your best bet. Hot rolled asphalt. 6mm-8mm SMA will provide you no grip what so ever. Get some tire additives for asphalt. Coat the tires and put some cling film over. Then put the tire warmers on at 60 for 5 mins. You can do it without the tire warmers, but you’ll 100% need tire additive. MR33 v3 asphalt is a really good choice.
with slicks, and that surface, its like driving on marbles mate. You really need a super smooth surface to hook it up. Or different tyres like wet weather tyres
I have the Kyosho Formula Sports F-Ten GP 4WD which was a copy of the prototype 4WD Renult F1 car. They are extremely rare selling for $1500 to $2100 nowadays. I would never sell mine as I race it in the nitro 4WD open-wheel class. So much fun.

Close to maybe 25 years ago, I got myself a cool Kyosho F-1 car that was 4 wheel drive! Sure wish I'd kept that one. I hate to say I don't even remember hat happened to it at this point. Wasn't as big (Only 1/10th scale) as this one, or as scale detailed, also didn't have that on board starter! Did you say that was an add on? Pretty cool considering that type of tech really only, to my knowledge, here in the states became available maybe 10-12 years ago on some Losi cars. They called it "R.O.S.S." (remote on board starting system) I LOVED IT! Didn't last long as I assume people were burning them up left and right. Also, using the same low capacity battery for that and the radios tasks really stressed out the battery. If you had a hard time starting the truck, well, there goes your play time! Anyway, that's a pretty sweet ride! Too bad it handles like crap! Hope you can sort that out. UGH...Kevin has one eh? Is he going to try to break the worlds record for RC F-1 car jumps? Maybe try going up a couple teeth on the clutch bell to reduce the torque a little??? And sum foam drag tires probly wouldn't hurt. Looks and sounds awesome tho!
Phil does a great job with those click starts. As soon as I heard you say it i thought i know where thats come from. He has a few F1's. That runs nicely but everyone around here moans about the noise so I got rid of my nitro car many years ago. I will stick with the old tamiya and crawlers on electric.
I would love to see a little more about that electric starter for nitro on this car. I've got two of these cars and one of my biggest grievances is the pullstart, so one is still brand new and the other I've driven only once.
If the aero is meant to function realistically, and the car is spinning out when you get on the throttle, youre gonna need to keep at speed for grip and to brake into the turns. set some expo if you need it so its not jumping as fast into the throttle and just nailing it unless youre flat out. If you could set a little more slip in the clutch thatd do it too, but im not sure how adjustable that particular setup is. Nitro are a different beast, especially the bigger, more scale ones. You might want to look into some softer tires if youre gonna run on such a bumpy surface too, cuz youre only getting about half the grip the tire has to give. If you could run on like...a prepared surface, or a gokart track thatd be near perfect. Theyre real smooth. Good luck man, nice to see a nitro car still on the road after all this time...
I bought those when they came out , in fact I bought two of them and kept them in boxes all these years. Myself and my one daughter started putting both together this past December. Just about ready to start the paint jobs.
6:55 look at the rear tire, something's way off, the camber has only part of the tire contacting the pavement. Can you shim the A arms to bring it back vertical? or maybe the hubs have adjusters?
I have one for sale, brand new, never started and complete with most of the magazines. Comes with two extra tyres, some extra spare parts, extra fast pronoun gear, transmitter, second body and extra rear and front spoiler.
I saw one of these on the local buy and sell for pretty cheap. The only difference is it’s black not blue. They are asking 100 dollars. Maybe I should pick it up.
Absolutely love that , ive always fancied a formula one Nitro car, ive always liked the four wheel steer Tyrells, could you perhaps use a couple of engine heaters to heat up the rear tyres to get them sticky? they probably only need two or three minutes to heat up. The starting mechanism is brilliant, what a pity they dont apply it to RTR nitro cars more often, it might help to bolster the hobby a bit more for those that give up because they havent got the patience to pull on a pullstart.
I'm not a nitro guy but that looks fun! I think that might be the smoothest lot you've been on in a while, can't wait for the next installment. Thanks for sharing.
Those are awesome kits, planning on getting one myself soon. as maintainers you know actual engines always hit a sweet spot! Ive got 2 of these one shelf queen and one that i use. Your going to overheat iif you dont open up the vents in the lexan body. Steering and suspension absolutely terrible, i fitted mine with a faster servo and did everything i could to remove the slop and its better than stock. Also get the upgrade kit for it and run the 2 speed gearbox and the soft tyres, like the real thing the tyres don’t last long but they’re worth it. Also stiffen the shocks up. 2 more essential upgrades are the rear differential as the stock gears are made with butter and will strip.
