Puberty is rough. Also, his nose looks great now, and I assume so do his teeth.
At 3:00, what he said about being kidnapped has been exactly my (I know strange) fear for a long time because I can hardly breath through my nose because of my deviated septum, that's incredible to find someone else who had that same fear.
Septoplasty addresses the septum only. ENT can do that. Rhinoplasty is cosmetic surgery. I know this because I just saw a cosmetic surgeon who is referring me to ENT for a septoplasty.
The cosmetic surgeon probably didn't have any interest in performing a septoplasty because it's not a lucrative surgery for a plastic surgeon. ENT's love to do septoplasty's because it's a guaranteed reimbursement and they don't have the skills to do rhinoplasty's and that's where the big bucks are at because rhinoplasty is primarily done on a cash basis without going through an insurance company and fighting for pennies on the dollar.
I reminds me of my mom who underwent a septorhinoplasty when she was in her twenties for the same reasons and at first, she was pleased with the functional and aesthetic results but after several years, she was hardly able to breath through her nose, I think I read somewhere that the nose cartilage keeps "memory" of its previous shape, it's hard to correct that.
Would an expander be necessary strictly just for the fact of teeth grinding? Or would something else be beneficial? My dentist is testing me for it right now but I don't have any issues other than "possible" teeth grinding. I sleep with my mouth closed, don't snore, don't have headaches or jaw pain. I even had invisalign a while back and all seems good.
Your dentist is seeing tooth cupping which can be best described as dental potholes. Dents or cups developing on the tooth surface. These potholes are not always caused by Bruxism (teeth grinding). Acid reflux can also cause these potholes. G.E.R.D. which is chronic acid reflux is a common condition of sleep apnea sufferers.
makes sense but I don't have those conditions either. I'm at a loss as to what is causing this. Curious to see what the testing comes back with.
