    I really enjoyed this cup ramen upgrade video. It sits well alongside with your more "restaurant" style videos. I really like that you're already organising your playlists so that we can choose to "binge" a particular style or subject.
    Will you be able to do a similar review and "dressed up" ramen upgrade video with the non-cup instant ramen?
    I'd like to see your opinion on the common "flagship" instant ramen from a given country, how popular or available are these in Japan combini if at all, and how you would upgrade or dress those types too. For example, I think of Nongshim Shin Ramyun for Korean "flagship" instant, Indomie Mi Goreng for indonesian etc. Are these even available? What are your opinions of them?
    Keep 'em coming Frank, your ramen videos are helping me to "keep my noodle" (not lose my head) during these lockdown times :)

    • @5AMRamen
      @5AMRamen  4 роки тому

      Thanks! Plan to fill up those playlists in the coming months 😀. It would be a lot of fun to do some vids of non-cup instant ramen upgrades too. Here it's mostly the local varieties (Sapporo Ichiban, for example) that are available but in the last few years Shin Ramyun is everywhere. Would be harder to get some from other countries like Indonesia but can start thinking about how to do this for future vids! That would be a lot of fun, featuring several countries and their flagship instant ramen 🍜.

    Love the video, Frank. We've been eating a lot of instant ramen during this lockdown, and I always spice mine up. Thanks for more ideas! But then I have to say:
    🤐 Ewww … Cilantro 🤢 I'm one of the people that cilantro tastes like soap (supposedly it's a genetic thing 🤔... not sure if I believe that). When I was living in Los Angeles, the Nuevo Mexican Cuisine restaurants were exploding and everything was buried in cilantro. It made me sad. 😉 Thanks again for helping entertain us!!

      @5AMRamen  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching - I had a lot of fun making the video! Spice is always a nice upgrade 🌶️
      I totally get you on the cilantro and heard the same (the genetics theory). Those restaurants need to make sure it comes on the side! 😀

    It's only in the last 9-12 months I've seen Nissin Cup Noodles in UK Supermarkets, and I love them - They are far superior to any other instant noodles we have. We only get 4 flavours - Seafood, Tonkotsu, Sukiyaki beef, and Teriyaki Chicken. As for Natto, I didn't think it was too bad, though I love Marmite, which has a very fermented yeasty taste. Shinichis' video sent me here by the way, I didn't realise you had your own channel.

      Thanks for coming to the channel! I always enjoy collabing with Shinichi and Satoshi. Happy to hear Nissin Cup Noodles are now available in UK supermarkets. You're brave for having tried natto - I'm sure the marmite helped 😊.

    Chili Tomato is the one Cup Noodle I want to try and can't find here in the States. Seafood and Curry have become really easy to get, thankfully. Both are tasty, but I think I might like Seafood more. Time to go get some cherry tomatoes!

    We tried natto at our first breakfast in Tokyo. Sort of like you - I dont hate it. I even bought some when we got back to Virginia, but it wasn't as palatable. Maybe because it has to be frozen?

    • @5AMRamen
      @5AMRamen  3 роки тому

      Most people won't freeze their natto but it's totally fine to do that! Yes, natto is a strange one, isn't it? If it's there, we'll eat it.

    Ooh. My country (as many others) is currently in lockdown, so perfect timing for this video for me lol. I'll be sure to try these additions these days!
    Strangely enough, the few Maruchan/Cup Noodles we get here don't seem to have that many ingredients. Ajinomoto's one is pretty tasty though.
    Regarding your Natto question - I was eager to try it just by how intense the reactions I saw to it were. I went with an open mind, and although I wouldn't say I hate it, it's something that I wouldn't really eat under my own decision. It's weird, I feel like the exaggerated reactions on youtube about it made me overestimate it (and it makes sense really, since reaction videos are meant to have exaggerated reactions to entertain the viewer). Then again, I've heard that locally-produced Natto isn't as intense as what you get in Japan.
    Hope you're doing well these days, and thanks for the wonderful video. Keep it up!~

    • @5AMRamen
      @5AMRamen  4 роки тому

      Yes, will be pushing out more of these instant ramen videos for all of us stuck at home!
      Interesting that Maruchan and Cup Noodles don't seem to have as many ingredients over there. Will have to give Ajinomoto a try.
      I think we feel the same way about natto 😀.
      It's definitely not as bad as people make it out to me but I wonder if there is a big difference with natto outside of Japan.
      I'm doing well and same to you! Will keep the videos coming!

    I have tried natto in Japan and my experience is that the aftertaste reminds me of the smell of gasoline. I don't like it nor dislike it, but im open for trying it in different ways

    • @5AMRamen
      @5AMRamen  4 роки тому

      Natto does have that super funky, fermented smell. As a gasoline substitute, it could probably power a large SUV 😂

  • @cmkfatt1
    @cmkfatt1 4 роки тому

    Are these better than the American Cup Noodle brand? Just the smell of it makes me sick compared to all the better instant ramen you can find now. And always worth a good hack! :)

    • @5AMRamen
      @5AMRamen  4 роки тому

      I haven't tried the American Cup Noodle in ages! So not sure. But I know what you mean - the premium instant ramen is that much better (Nissin also makes them). Cup Noodle is maybe best for wackiness, nostalgia, and convenience (no packets) 😊.
