Side effects of taking a Kriegsmen DNA include, but limited to digging complex AF trenches, having a thing for gas mask, preferring a shovel over most modern weapons, and lots of bombardment.
I’d actually love some trench digging bioforms that tunnel around and release swarms behind enemy lines.

You know what this is now my headcanon for where the Catachan Devils came from. They just ate some Catachan genetics, went “Fuck you I’m my own free bug monster and don’t need to follow the orders some pansy-ass hivemind tries to give me” and just returned to scorpion while the wildly confused hivefleet just marked the planet off as “Do not eat”.
