- God always works in ways we cannot fathom. Oftentimes we meet with storms on the same path that Jesus has ordained for us. We tend to give up believing the raging sea is a sign that God isn’t present there.
So you try saving yourself. As you swim to survive, you tend to flap about, just to breathe again. You’d only be drowning more and losing valuables that were on you. During one such time, Tere Bina was my “calm in the storm.” I didn’t understand the language, even yet, I knew what it was saying.
It’s the song that got me breathing underwater.
And God is always faithful. He didn’t stop with just “saving,” He began something new. Only prior to Tere Bina, just like how a breakthrough would happen suddenly, God had all of a sudden fulfilled a long-term desire. He moved people’s hearts to gift me my secret favorite guitar. Getting the guitar to India wasn’t simple, but God made a way. And I'm not even a guitarist. Yet again, like Joseph said, “But God…!”
With the guitar in my hands, a renewed journey of receiving tunes from God commenced, starting with Sirapanadhaye Avar Seivar. Quite a number of people told me one thing- they aborted their suicide mission upon listening to it. Then I believed, if God has a purpose for His gifts, then He is enough.
I knew right away I should work on a Tamil version of Tere Bina to let the song do its work over many more lives. It took a while, even years, to take my first step with it! But after the pandemic, God allowed things to progress. And when I received the translated lyrics, I was astounded to read in words what the Spirit had already conveyed. God’s timing is infallible. As everyone is climbing out of these uncertain times, the song is going to bless many hearts.
I look back and see that God is good all the time. He works all things together for our hope and His glory. Let's be grateful for the boat we leave behind, the storm that strengthens our faith, and His mighty hand that pulls us back to Himself. That hand is mighty because its strength is “love.” Truly, we are mere dry bones without Jesus and His tireless, steadfast love.
In fact, that’s what the chorus says, “Tere Bina, mein kuch nahi Yeshu. Tere Liye, mein zindahoon Yeshu/Neer Illamal Naan Ondrum Illaye, Um Anbinaal, Naan Uyir Vaazhgindraen.”
