"Morir de susto" or Die from fright. Growing up I've been told that when you're scared down to your soul it can kill you, be it physically or mentally. You cease to eat, sleep, and gradually deteriorate unless you find a healer to 'lift' the fright. Pretty sure Abuelita's prayers kept her from becoming scared to her core. You hear a lot of stories from the ranchos of Mexico.
I still don't see why the mom in the second story didn't immediately come home. If someone with a knife was outsider my house house with my kid trapped inside I'd not hesitate and then to act like it was nothing later. Not very good parents.

Story 4 - The gal got upset because the beaten guy was crying?? She was shocked he was acting like "a girl" because he got... beaten by a fucking bobby stick? For fucks sake. Of course the dude was crying, he was hurt and scared just like she was! Then, to say "Don't put yourself in a bad situation, girls" just burns me up. Absolutely yes, be aware of your situation and surroundings, but to blame herself that way is reeks of internalized misogyny and I hope she understands that the blame lies solely on the nut-job who caused the damage. Something about the story just really got under my skin, oof. How scary and sad for her and the other guy involved.
That 5th story had me confused. I felt like I was listening to an amalgamation of Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, and Teletubbies or something similar. "F told B to Eff off, then C sent A to come and get me, as F had lost his damn mind". I never understood why some folks use letters for folks, as opposed to giving them fictional names. To me, the names just make the story sound so much more fluid, realistic, and just better overall.

My health prevent me from being able to drive. Legally. The bus has its routes I might not live in the ghetto but to get from one place to another I have to take different busses and some stops are in the ghetto. Some learn the hard way

I hate to be this guy, but the girl in story 5 getting mad at the other 2 guys in the car for not protecting her from the crazy driver friend who beat one of the guys with a baton is just wrong for that.. What happened to gender equality?? Should one of those guys just taken a vicious beating so she could run away?? Her big strong older brothers would have apparently.. And now her buff crazy husband would never let anything bad happen to her.. She has a twisted mindset and thinks men only exist to protect her.

Please don't take offense at my pedantry, but you're simply too good to make these minor mistakes, so I hope you will correct them going forward, because these are consistent mistakes I hear in almost all your readings. 1) The expression is "all of *a* sudden" and NOT "all of *the* sudden" as you too often say. 2) The phrase is *either* "as if" *or* "as though" but *never* "as if though," which is simply redundant. Thank you again for these outstanding narrations. Again, I realize I'm being a bit of a fuddy-duddy, but I really just want to help you be even more amazing.
