Only bitches will like this comment
Fok up that like button
Real men dislike the comment and the video
fuck yeah here i come
If I dislike it, am I a tomcat then?
@@GammaFZ I know real jazz guitarists will think this guy is lame for being a newb and for being a misogynist.
Here, listen to someone who does their talking with their fingers: ua-cam.com/video/3jdU-azCaZU/v-deo.html
I feel like phrasing and rhythm is more important than the actual note choice in jazz
Phrasing is note choice though
@@hotman718 well i meant note choice as in pitches, not how well phrases flow together
In blues yes in jazz its both
Note choice is huge in jazz though.. for example, have a jazz guitarist play lines over a dominant chord by just playing mixolydian with excellent phrasing. It’s definitely great but it’s not the next level. The moment a player introduces upper extensions like the b9 or #11 juxtaposed with great phrasing built off of that mixolydian foundation, that’s when you have truly complex feelings flooding your mind like a psychedelic. Note choice isn’t everything, but why ignore that layer of emotional complexity?
@@hannanathan564 when I said note choice doesn’t matter I meant like you can be as complex as you want with the melody, but I see where you’re coming from
My mind is so prepared for: rickrolls, megalovanias, and liccs that I never thought I would actually learn something from this video
What is a megalovnic?
@@NullVoidgone you are not prepared
@@raitoxote you'd be surprised.
I google and didn't see anything?
@@NullVoidgoneHe means megalovenia
dont forget weezer
Thanks! This video covered so much more detail than most jazz tutorials
this is a pretty useful trick, enclosures instantly levelled up my jazz playing, they're worth practicing
How to keep a consistent upload schedule.
😂 fact
a serious brandon tutorial, noice
bro you got me, I thought you were gonna say play literal random notes and justify them by advanced key and chord changes with lots of jargon to make yourself a genius proclaimed by the jazz community
edit: I did not expect such a shit reply section, I apologise for commenting this
jazz is the highest point of music, and jazzmen are really geniuses, not like the rest
@@pahan3335 idk about all that.. they are certainly some really knowledgeable musicians.. But a lot of them don't understand the concept of playing something that ppl want to hear lol. Playing notes just because you CAN might be cool to some nerds, but hardly anyone appreciates jazz because of those type of players. When in reality jazz is an awesome genre but it gets misunderstood. There is a lot of great jazz out there that makes sense to the average person, and then there's a lot of jazz that just sounds like random 💩 noise.
@@Ben6Strings and what kind of jazz is it that looks like random noise? maybe it's just free jazz, but the rest of jazz is the highest music
@@Ben6Strings people come in droves to jazz fests, where they play complex modal music, pay money to see it live, and there are no nerds at all.
and on account of what people want to hear, then you can play 4 chords and pentatonic up and down)
@@pahan3335 like I said, a lot of jazz is awesome. But there is some that gives the appearance of "playing random notes" to ppl who don't understand theory because it doesn't necessarily have a "pleasant" sound. But a lot of jazz is awesome, like I said. I'm not trying to hate on jazz. I'm just saying it's not like jazz musicians are the best and all others are below
no one:
friends cutting to a new scene:
I'm gonna try that, Cheers Anakin.
To be more of a jazz player you’ll need an archtop acoustic or an archtop with a floating neck pickup
Tell that to Julian Lage…
So Brandon seems to be both right- and lefthanded!
This imposter is too chill.
In all fairness he said sound *more* like a jazz player. This is a line that could actually be played in jazz blues, playing really fast bebop chops is just not realistic if you are just beginning to explore jazz.
Chromatic enclosures are one of the bases of bebop improvisation so it makes sense for that style too; even in fusion, chromatic enclosures are common.
Agree. Nice semihollow in your picture btw.
Love that he’s using the Ibanez more
Ahh the pre "Now just leave!!!" era
It's a part of the "Blues" scale, which is basically a Minor Pentatonic scale with an extra key between the 3rd and 2nd note of the scale. It's common in jazz too!
I love your videos and thank you for putting it left handed. Much easier for me.
Thanks for sharing!
The problem is enclosures are more complicated than what was explained in the video, you enclose the 3rd different than the 5th for example
Let’s go brandon
Thank you.
❤BLUES..( ARE THE "ROOTS❤)
That reminded me of that game "order up"
😂if you want to sound like a Jazz player choose ten tunes. For example,
Take The A Train
All Of Me
Freddie Freeloader
Fly Me To The Moon
It Could Happen To You
Green Dolphin Street
Blue Skies
Song For My Father
Mercy Mercy Mercy
The Shadow Of Your Smile
Now listen to each of these tunes over and over again. Now you know what these tunes sound like. Get the charts
Which is the basic melody and chord changes. Now play these melodies and learn the chord changes.
Ta Dah ! You are at the beginning of learning to play Jazz ! Enjoy!
I’m Jazz
No I'm going to transform the Little Piece you played into a full music😊😊
Damn that would be crazy if a good jazz musician ever did that more than twice a gig
I thought this was going to be hitting the "wrong notes" that disgruntle my pianist friend
I have a new way
Bro ive been using this to make metal riffs for too long 😭
I think I have the same hoodie 😎
really helps that you’re mirroring the recording………
What's the difference between sounding like a jazz player and being a jazz player
yeah that would be correct if that in context of Gmaj triad. but go off bro.
Ah i see thank you
Guitar sounded like a piano for a solid minute
oh my god he actually has something other than a tele
The one thing on all of my jazz courses is if you wanna sound impressive throw a wrong note in the mix here and there and you’re instantly jazz
No Kidding yeah
This radiates Rick beato energy
I was expecting this to be a joke but I learned something
Can u di a longer version of this video plz
excellent
Hey Arnold!!
Piano duh! Love to piano man.
Oh I thought you were going to say just play a bunch of wrong notes.
Easy!
Mind blown,
breathe-pink floyd
…one of the best songs ever…
I was trolled by thinking this video was a meme
you also do the american head bobble like Bran did so
Sounds like ‘At Last’
I like that bro nice and sweet
I always though the trick good jazz was making a ton of mistakes and not acknowledging them as such.
me, a metal guitarist: “mm, yes, interesting”
Styropyro really is a polymath
Let’s go Brandon
The real question: when did Brandon become left handed?
Eres bueno, me recuerdas a paul gilbert!.
NIIIIIIICE 😉
Both sides but “above and then below”, not the reverse as in “below and then above”, right?
I was expecting to hear sweet child o mine's intro
omg that's my guitar
Darker jazz: play every note's flat 5th
honestly, that’s more blues than jazz 💀 but yeah good tip!
Do I stay this time? Or should I just leave? Not quite sure
If anything this is the note for blues. Wanna learn JAZZ? do some modal playing
Jazz is not playing well it's about convincing that you're playing well, just ask Jacob collier
My man just played a lick from Johnny b goode
Just hit the wrong fret and you good to go!
If you wanna sound like a Jazz player, how about you study and learn and play LEGITIMATE JAZZ.
First two notes sound like a piano lol
UMMM I HAVE A QUESTION TO ANYONE READING THIS COMMENT... is it only me that's super shy or all guitarists?
More blues jazz but yeah, that's cool
Yeah! You must know where you are going but you can go there by playing anything. Thats jazz. XD
That is so true !
It sounded more like blues to me
I think you just played The Chicken by Jaco Pastorius🤔
Oh cool, I do that already, I just call it, "Trying to find the note I'm looking for," and with less rhythm
If you wanna sound like a jazz player use jazz chords and ignore keys
I think it has more to do with shaking your head around and making a goofy face. Also lean towards your guitar cupping your ear like you are trying to hear it. Never the amp. Don’t acknowledge any the amp or any electronic devices. Talk about triads and dominant major 7th chords. No matter what you are playing just add in more chromatic notes to take up time. Make your solo 10 times longer than necessaety.
No matter what you are playing just play """"Musica ficta"""", add in 'passing notes' to take up time, if you can't think of a melody just use appoggiatura and echappee. Make it all about the authentic cadence and if you play the wrong note just call it suspension or anticipation.
Shit, are the Zombies on my lawn?
Cool 👌
Umm… You mean half-step intervals?
what if I want to Sound like a Scuba diver
This sounded like some Indian raga to me like bhairavi or something
so good,you are profy
Though he was gonna play plants vs zombies
Easy money
i heard the chicken
Octaves
am i tripping or is he playing a left-handed guitar
I’m tryna sound less like a jazz player
Why can't people teach like this as opposed to fifty minutes on what this is
Cool
I only know 1s and 0s
I did save this post, but I still does not sound like a jazz player……..🤔
I just hit semi random notes I know will sound bad
that sounded like jaco pastorious'es chicken
Hey it's that dude who is always telling me that I'm an immature guitarist
(Edit): I'm talking about his UA-cam ad
Is it left-handed or a selfie? I couldn't figure out :(
