Good vid, looked up as I need to repoint my garage roof. Looks v awkward filming and doing it all up a ladder lol, appreciate the info. Deffo feel like I can tackle the job now, cheers 👍
@@markrocketmangrimstead 😂😂😅scared of going up ladder ! I asked someone to do it last September and they just haven’t showed up . I have damp coming into bedroom
.....another little tip gonna pack any gaps with wire wool mesh as i repoint for any future rat prevention entry points too! just learning! Thank you....
Hi mate,i just replaced the original peg concrete tiles, in the past i have used cement fibre board or even old 3mm aluminium sheet with i cut into strips, to save money
i have some small cracks in this " gable end verge ". there is always some water dropping from the end , where gable end finishes. i don t know what that portion of roof is called.
All the verge tiles and end ridge would have been better taken off. for the under-cloak tiles, would have been better replacing with undercloak board. Neater and better finish. Run a high line of mortar right up the verge and press the verge tiles back into place. Will bond better and stop lifting in high winds. I don’t really like the idea of packing out the gap with lumps of mortar. But I think I’m quite ocd and would annoy being knowing it’s their 😂
Brilliant, just what I was looking for, cheers!
Thanks mate, dont finish it in the dark like me👍
Good vid thanks .....I’ll be adopting your techniques for the small pitch gable end on my porch 👏
Thankyou, yes give it a go
Great video. that’ll set me up perfect for replacing my gables in summer 👍

Just be careful and take your time
What we do in Australia. Is that we put cement sheet on top of the wooden fascia board and 5ml in so the mortar would not make fascia wood rotten..
Cool, yes i have done that before.its just that i am to tght so i reused the tiles👍
Where you put the tiles could you of used undercloak

Im not sure either, you could try to repair just that portion,to make it less prone to cracking you could put chicken wire in before the mortar

Yes you are correct, but the problem is i am a cheap skate,so in other words im trying to be economic 🤣
What is under cloak board? Is it just any wood boards?
You got the mix right but should be 2 building sand one sharp one dust
Cool👍
dry verge its the way forward maintenance free .
Are they universal and i guess no need to remove the old mortar ?
You would need to remove all the mortar and extend the tile lath.
@@wingmainful yes indeed you would steve correct nice hear somebody that knows what there doing .
