22:47 I love Mikes expression there, he is like WTF why would someone applaud for just playing a record? Starts clapping hands and instantly realizes how dumb it is.
20:31 Wait... lunatic harness was created with a fucking Atari computer?? I need to reevaluate. One of the most Criminally underrated electronic artists got a criminally horrible interview... Sounds about right.
@Pete Testube I just meant to say that he managed to create this hugely expressive, animated masterpiece with tools that were considered old and inflexible by that time
everything was made with the atari st back in the day. Studios would advertise they had the Atari system. It was the industry standard before pro tools.
Oh ok, just making midi tracks from scratch on an Atari with RDJ and not even speaking to each other and boom we get Expert Knob Twiddlers. Incredible.
What a really bad line of questioning. The interviewer needs to take himself outside have a word with himself. Poor old Mike is only hanging around out of politeness. If Aphex Twin was being interviewed by this guy. He'd have walked out on the second question
Most of the comments here, like, Sheesh, it's an interview.. Chill, at least you got a chance to see someone talk about their path rather than not having that opportunity.. Stop looking gift horses in the mouth
@@thersten what they mean is that if someone gifts you a horse, you don't look at the horses mouth / teeth to check its health. it's a metaphor for just accepting gifts. but dunno.. It’s awesome the way he explains his process with the Atari..... always hoped that was the case. Also everything about cross promotion and the different names.
i found some c64 samples and i am kinda shocked that it did not resurfaced somehow, it has a life so is Atari...so i am thinking about getting one or both of them
isn't it kinda disrespectful to title this in regards to aphex twin? He makes his own music, not everything within IDM has to be about aphex twin all the time.
Fairly poor interview. Is that what redbull does to you- noticed the interviewer was drinking it. Someone from the audience asked better questions. Mike's not the most engaging surprisingly too, hes not comfy.
He has some of the most unique sounding music Ive heard to this day, fkn mental
I love this man! his latest Hello and Magic Pony Ride albums are his best yet. He matured as a musician so well
yes goodbye also!

Atari was the best computer with the most interesting softwares at that time. Many tracks of all kinds have been created with it.

awww man I wanted to see the reaction to the Loefah remix lol
the interviewer is so feckin awkward, Mike is just like "wtf lol" 1/3 of the time

Record contracts

I thought the same thing
48:48 is Ease Up, shame they didn't include the whole track
he has a new album coming out on the 4th feb 2022 "scurlage"

At the point they silenced the music I'm bailing out. Total bullshit. No need for it, the person sat there owns the copyright

they have to to avoid a copy strike. the playlist is in the description.

anyone know what DAW/program Mike was using around 47:25?

Yeah it's battery. Native Instruments vst.
That looks like an old-azz version of Apple Logic with Native Instruments Battery. (Ok, I see this interview is from 2006)
