Aaron Tveit was perfect for this role and played it so brilliantly, glad he had a similary character in his TV show 'Graceland' FBI agent and all the pretending, very similar to Frank, they still should've kept this show on Broadway though. absolutley love Aaron
He was a genius on Graceland, kind of full circle playing the FBI agent instead of the one being hunted. The twists and turns and all the mental breakdowns was brilliantly played.
runs for Congress, fights for independence of France, works for the FBI, becomes a pilot, doctor, lawyer, earns millions of dollars out of it, he sings, and he's hot... is there anything this guy CAN'T do?!?!
Mominaodiji he was in a few episodes of Gossip Girl and he currently plays FBI agent Mike Warren on the TV series "Graceland." you should totally check it out. really awesome show :)
Y'know, I love how at the beginning Carl is just like "WHY ARE THERE LIGHTS AND RANDOM DANCING PEOPLE WHAT IS GOING ON?!?" instead of freezing like most play characters do when another enters a monologue. He's breaking the wall!

Anyone watching in 2018 good news: Aaron is coming back to broadway with a starring role in Moulin Rouge the Musical! The pre-bway run is in boston this summer, and if all goes well it will probably be on broadway sometime in the following year!
This was the first Broadway show I saw. My first time in NYC as well. I went just for Aaron. :) Side note, I also met the real Frank when he spoke at my college. I asked him how cool it was that he had a musical created about him. He said he wasnt a fan of musicals and didnt know why they'd want to make a show about him. Lol.

Okay firstly, this show deserved so much more recognition. Secondly, this is one of THE BEST musical tracks I've ever heard, I'm talking like same level as Hamilton and Les Mis. I wanted to get a fair sense of the show, after reading the synopsis on Wikipedia and listening to the soundtrack, so I found this video. I'm auditioning for this show in a week with my local theatrical group, and I wanted to be prepared. This video, despite it being a bootleg, is fairly well taped and I really appreciated all of the interviews afterwards. This video is very informative and really gives you a true sense of what the show is actually about, without seeing it in person. I'm now more hyped than ever for this upcoming audition!
Elisabeth Jane It went super well! I was a glamazon and had 9 costume changes. The professionalism of the group I'm with is really broadway grade, so the show was a hit! Thank you!
Norbert Leo Butz so deserved his Tony for this- the others are amazing obviously but Don't Break the Rules was the first song I heard from this show and it remains my favorite, thanks to his performance as Carl. As a side note, does he look at the camera on "God's keepin' score" at 44:10? Because if so that is perfect.
Aaron Tveit is the most talented, goregeous, and perfect human being on the planet. Watching him makes me physically sick and compeletely happy and elated at the same time. I don't know if there are words for how happy this musical and this man makes me
Fascinating video. Using black and white creates a very moody atmosphere for this handsome muscular man who seems to be brooding over something. All of a sudden, he smiles and it's as though he's lit a candle to brighten up the room! Very nicely done.
fuCK i found this right after it was uploaded but i forgot this bootleg was on youtube so i couldn't find it (i obviously didn't look very hard) but it just popped up in my suggestions happy 4th of july to me my heart is celebrating the freedom of now having this video in my bookmarks so i can watch it whenever i want
I saw this show at a local high school and it was easily the best play I've seen in ages, especially by a high school! I'd love to see it again but tonight was closing night.
My son just had the opportunity of a life time. He had a role acting opposite Norbert Buttz, (Carl Handratty) Norbert is such an amazing talented man.......and what awesome person in general , and funny!!!
This version is so much different than the pre-Broadway one! I feel like they changed 90% of the script, lol. I prefer the sets in this version, but I liked the story-telling in the pre-Broadway version much more. Brenda is also much different here. I think I liked her as a clumsy, kinda weird, innocent girl. She was so much different from all the girls Frank knew, and that's why he was so interested in her. This confident Brenda is fine, but she just isn't as strikingly different than the other girls.
I just finished this moment watching the Seattle pre Broadway version of this show. I have to say there are definitely parts of the Seattle show that I liked better than the Broadway show. It was more explicit and for example, I think the relationship with Brenda was clearer and therefore, more credible. There seemed also to be more verbal exchanges in this version adding more depth to the characters making them a bit more 3D. The chemistry amongst the principals was amazing and Norbert and Aaron have a palpable bond.
You are a saint for uploading this! I've been looking for this forever since the other one got deleted. Would you by any chance want to email it to me or something? I would love to put this on a dvd. It's a shame the musical didn't run longer.

My high school recently did this show and I watched every performance. Now that I’m finally watching this I have to say the choreography here is really underwhelming and some of the lines’ delivery could be way more dramatic; except Aaron Tviet that man is so talented. Oh and the vocals and orchestra here are amazing I never knew what I was missing.
