Is it customary for UA-cam car review channels to provide a waiver of some kind that's signed by the vehicle's owner to keep the show from being responsible if the car somehow breaks while being reviewed? Gee whiz, I wonder why I thought of that question while watching this car in particular? Lol.
This guy actually built my dream car: I hope of having one of these cars in the future with a turbo attached on the engine. The only thing that this car doesn't have is a proper ventilated hood.
@@reluctant4611 do it dude :) and you better put it on UA-cam cause I wanna hear that, I’m going full custom m50 block with forged m54b30 Crank, Rods And Pistons. I wanna get an itb Intake and cams for the motor, then getting boosted with a Borg Warner S475 :)

he is definately right about the smoothness coming out the corner. it shows that the owner is dedicated to cornering speed. i do want to see some of his track videos.
I have probably never heard a I6 sound like that good. I've never been a big fan of I6 as I own most V8s, but they managed to make this car sound like a true V8 which is awesome.
It’s about time you drive and reviewed a real BMW E46 M3, with a MANUAL transmission!! The turbo is just a bonus. I wish you were here in the states, and I would let you come dr be my 600hp supercharged E46 M3 manual
I would like to ask him how his experience with used HPF gear I got a stg 3 ems kit by hpf... I have no turbo side parts. I'd like to speak with this man if he's able to modify tables in that hpf module... he did mention a different turbo selection later on in the vid
Hi, I have an equal car with horsepowerfreaks turbo kit and i changed turbo to garret ball bearing and turbo smoke from the intake. You know why this problem??
It’s really nice that your guest went through his mod list, but would you be able to provide the relative cost that was spent getting his e46 to where it is currently?
This m3 sound glorious, the rasp that a N/A S54 is what makes a e46 m3 an e46 m3. But i love this tone better, it sounds so much better so much more muscular and more angry
I FINALLY GOT A 2006... i am soooo excited to add power, supercharged or turbocharged there already so damn fun, i am just more suited to a savage type car
Great review of a great car! P.S. isn't that the same road they filmed the beginning of fast and furious 4 the "gas tanker heist " on? Looks real familiar. Keep up the great work brother! Peace!
I used to drive a boosted '04 M3 that put down 440 on a dyno... felt way crazier than my current '15 M4 which is stock. That said, I would've traded my whole supercharger kit in for a new seat if my driver's seat ever looked like that, jeez.
I live in canada and I’m buying a 2004 330ci for a first car. My plans after about 2 years are to boost the car and build a street car. Supercharger or turbocharger?
Motul brake fluid is good but I prefer Castrol srf. I bought Brembos when they were cheap at "only" 5 grand. That was for 6 and 4-piston calipers and floating spotted rotors. It would take me over eight grand to replace this system today. You should get Stoptech and run Cobalt Friction racing pads or Endless racing pads. The endless pad set me back almost $1, 000. Cobalt Friction are almost as good for a lot less money. Look into buying titanium heat shields for your front pads only. They do help with the heat. And they are not horrible expensive. Spray your wheels down within anti brake dust rejection spray every wash day. Use your downshift to use engine braking in the street as much as possible so you don't tear up your rotors. That's what I do and it works out great. I just drive to the track and go. No need for pad changes Tire changes... nothing. But I say I have a race car with a license plate it's almost true. I just don't have any solid mount bushings. That's just Overkill and would tear the car apart on the street. But almost every bushing is a fairly stiff durometer polyurethane. I run Racing pads in the street with no issues whatsoever. I run a square setup 265 mm in the street with minimal tramlining. The trick is to give yourself plenty of toe-in and full caster.
If you are craving that NA feeling but still want the power boost gives you why not go with a blower? I'm not very knowledgeable about E46 or BMWs in general is there a reason not to? A blower will give you that smooth power curve and responsive throttle. Although since you already invested in the turbo setup It would definitely hurt to have to gut that setup and drop money on a new one.
biggboysouth I’m not necessarily craving that “NA feeling” but I want to make this turbo setup work. Everyone has a supercharger, very few have a turbo. It’s a process haha.
Oh really I was unaware that superchargers were the popular setup with these cars. Well I hope that smaller turbo give you what you are searching for. Lower boost threshold will probably give you better throttle feel. Good luck!
The turbo company in New Jersey I can't remember their name. They make a lot of power with smaller turbos. I think they get 500 horsepower out of a 64 millimeter turbo using the stock DME. I think the company is called Maximum PSI. If you have an AEM Infinity and a good tuner you should be able to do well with a 64 mm Turbo.. You can always get a second high boost tune and run ms109 in your tank for track days. or better yet since you have an AEM Infinity I think you can run it on E85 flex-fuel. Guys run 30 lb of boost on straight E85. it would be a track monster with a 64mm turbo and probably only 20 or 25 lb of boost.
I want 700whp e46 500whp e36 m3 . 740i e38 lowered on 20 wheels. 840i e31 lowered on 20 or 19 wheels . And e30 m3 . X5M for daily M2 competition and x4m comp for my wife and . All new M8 aswell
RIP HPF!!! This is my dream car!.. Got the car... now all I need is the unobtainium turbo kit. Mine might end up SC just because that kit is so hard to get... Any one talked to Lab22 lately? Anyone out there still make these intake manifolds?
Everyone saying the turbo fixed the sound on this car, your right, and wrong. This is the induction noise that’s so brutal, but the exhaust sound you hear that’s what was playing behind rasp :)
Evan Anderson it’s a 3” straight pipe from the turbo back. It was made by my neighbor who’s a welder haha. The turbocharger completely changes the exhaust note of this car. Impossible to get the same sound without the turbo.
Dude honestly, the turbos on these cars are beastly, but if you’re planning to downsize the turbo to get more smoothness, more precision response throttle time, and less lag, then I would get rid of your turbo system, and go supercharged. With the supercharger, you will have the same power your getting now (mind less torque down low but still plenty enough), but you will retain better than factory throttle response and smoothness.
Jason S but the whole idea is to have a smooth, trackable turbo car. I understand I can go back to NA or SC but I want to make this work. It’s unique haha
Evan L I totally understand your view and what your trying to accomplish. Turbo E46 M3’s are hard to find, and the characteristics of them are so different. I def wouldn’t go back to N/A, but you’ll have a hard time getting it to be as smooth and responsive with a turbo. It’s just the nature of how a turbo works. I hope you can get it to where your satisfied. I like my IS38 MK7 GTI Manual, and the feel I get when boost kicks in, and the torque I get down low, but my Supercharged E46 M3 takes the cake on being a drivers car when it comes to throttle response and responsiveness of when I want it to do something, it does it immediately on point.

Yea did you all watch the video
outlawdrift kits still available

I'm deeply in love with E46 M3s
Not hating, just curious to see if my instincts are correct.
I'm sure it's really fast, but it seems to be more like 450 normal hp instead of 500 Wheel hp. Does it have such long gearing? An E46 with 500WHP should be a missile. Or perhaps the E46 had a bad carday that day?
It is most definitely a missile and I can assure you it's making 470-500whp~
okay okay, then it just seemed slow and I was wrong. Great car! and thanks for the cool vid
E46 or e92 m3 boosted would be a dream come true
