Both themes work for the feel of the game. Luigi's Mansion had a more spooky, funky vibe, while Dark Moon was more ominous and orchestral. But when you mix them together you get the funky beats lining up with the orchestral remix, resulting in greatness.
I would never describe Dark Moon as "ominous". It's rather gentle and cute, while the original Luigi's Mansion had indeed a more sinister yet crazy vibe
To reiterate, I meant ominous on terms of music. The overall atmosphere of Dark Moon isn't too ominous, but some of the music is. The ambient ones especially. And the original game's music is mostly funky and spooky and weird.
I'd say some church bells or some trombone, perhaps drums? Then again I'm the idiot who felt that maracas added a lot to Unova's buildup in victory road

The original theme is great, but always felt a little empty to me compared to the other ones, the clarinet and violins from Dark Moon’s version improves the song a lot imo. Great Job.
