    Just finished this job today on my 2016 L405 SCV6. Saved me some money and took all of the guess work out of the job. I didn’t have to take the wiper blades off and I took the plug in the back of the supercharger off when I got the supercharger up and tilted it so I could see it, it was on the drivers side. You will need a 2nd set of hands to tilt the supercharger to get that plugin out! This is the best video of this job on UA-cam. I used the upgraded metal pipes also. Took me about 3 1/2 - 4 hours from start to finish. Thank you my friend.

    Thank you for doing this video. The dealer quoted 5000$ for this change and I was able to do it by watching this video. I noticed a big leak in the thermostat and other parts looked fine. So, I decided to replace the thermostat only. However, I did start the work thinking I had to change the crossover pipes as well and realized I will not open the supercharger when the leak was clearly visible in the thermostat. I’m going to assume the cross over pipes are fine.
    Also dealer and local auto care companies typically change all the associated parts when they do this job like new hoses, bolts, pipes, clamps etc. which is why the costs are high plus labor hours.
    This is a Great video regardless. Confident that I can do it again if crossover pipes leak in the future.

    Hi it’s a great video, it is really helpful for anyone who are dealing with the water pump issue. I have a 5.0 v8 and I was able to remove all the bolts on the supercharger and I was trying to remove but I don’t know what is stopping from behind all I can do is Tilt up and down. I wanted to change those pipes in the back that you were showing at 1:43:28. Is there any way that I can completely remove the super charger and work on the back pipe.
    And would you suggest any other parts to change as I was working on water pump and thermostat.?
    I was commenting on this video in the middle. Till now it’s super nice to work on but supercharger is not coming out.

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  3 місяці тому

      The supercharger may be stuck and would not come out because the guides on the head are probably rusted. So you would need to wobble the supercharger a little bit to open some space and then stick a screwdriver or pry bar between the supercharger and the head and push it up until it comes out. It has happened to me very often. Also in the back of the supercharger on the right there's a plug that you have to remove. Also watch the video for anything else. Thanks and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍

      Have you installed the wrong part? Do you have the 2 seals installed correctly? Not sure what kind of problem you are having my friend... If you are installing new parts and that pipe is not reaching the spot where it's supposed to be then either you have installed wrong parts or something is not all the way in... Thanks and Good Luck 🤞💪👍

    Hey I'm stuck trying to get the electrical connector off the back of the supercharger. Do you press down on the tab, or slide it out, or lift it up? Any tips would be appreciated. Great video btw.

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  Рік тому +1

      I believe I do show that connector in the video and it looks like you need to press the tab in the beginning to lift up the forward part to unlock the clip and you slide it back. If it doesn't work by hand you can use a 90 degree hook pick tool. Thanks 👍

    Hey man, great detail video. I do have question thought. I am taking this task on in a couple days. When initially starting can you just start taking everything apart? or do you have to somehow empty the coolant from the system first?

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  5 місяців тому +1

      You don't need to empty it because you are always going to have coolant left in the different parts you are going to take apart and you will still end up making a mess... You can try to empty the radiator coolant if you see a release drain valve on the bottom side but usually the new European car brands do not have coolant drain valves so I would be surprised if you found one. Anyway give it a try... 😁 Thanks and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍

    Maybe a stupid question but if the coolant pipe has little pieces broke off do you just reach in and clean it out or do you flush the system? 2:28:07

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  Рік тому

      If you see all the pieces then you just reach and get them out but if they are in the system then you must clean the system and make sure they don't end in the water pump because the will destroy it or in the radiator and also the same! Thanks 👍

    How do you remove the bottom of the thermostat having a hard time thing is tight in there did u use any lube to help or just the screwdriver…thank you

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  10 місяців тому

      You can spray WD40 in between the hose and the plastic of the thermostat and then get a screwdriver or an angle pry pick in there to separate the hose if this is what you mean. The rubber hoses will be tight yes... Thanks...💪👍

    I’m praying I don’t have to do this, my temperature gauge was fluctuating a little bit n it stopped for a couple days and then did it today. I turned the car off after it said coolant low n then realized it was leaking from the smell/ steam, not sure from where because I didn’t even feel like dealing with it today but I feel a lot more confident doing this if it’s needs to be done (2017 jaguar XE 35t 3.0 75kmiles) wish me luck.

    Hi @ Project Athos I fixed everything back but now I have some issues starting the engine.
    When I start the engine it runs for 2 secs and then shuts down.
    I checked the codes it shows that P0657 which says actuator connection open. I don’t think I left any connection loose anywhere. Could you please let me know how to diagnose further. If you ever have this trouble while you worked on please please share me any information. If you need I can provide my email so we can talk over the problem.

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  2 місяці тому

      Upon checking this code it seems that it is related to an Actuator left unplugged or having an internal error. Unfortunately I am not there to see what you did and I wouldn't be able to check after your work what may have happened... I would advice you to go behind yourself and triple check all electrical connectors that you took off! And the ones you didn't! You may have left an unplugged sensor that has no relation to any actuators but these vehicles you would trigger a DTC codes about actuators because sensors and actuators are very often on the same circuit and report to The ECU through the same network! So again check all connectors and hopefully you can find your problem. Otherwise you may have to go to a professional shop to diagnose and repair your issue... Thanks and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍

      @@projectathosThank you soo much for the reply, upon very thorough check I found out the MAF sensor of Driver side is at fault. I tried to run the vehicle without connecting MAF sensors and it stood great, after connecting the Passenger side it was still good. But upon connecting the driver side the engine shut off immediately. That’s was a great find though. I found this yesterday and slept really peacefully.😂
      But I was able to do the whole repair with your video. I really appreciate your patience in taking the video and also replying. Thank you from our hearts.

    What I don’t understand when you change all those parts I do accept they should be changed when doing this job but why not change the supercharger oil and seals since the supercharger is out?

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  Рік тому +2

      Yes it's always a good idea to change the oil in the supercharger if it has not been changed but in our case this wasn't the job. The car came for the coolant leak and this is what we did. You need to understand that dealing with customers and adding more things to a job and trying to explain this to the same customer doesn't actually always work... Thanks👍

      You mean to get the air out when recharging with new coolant? Yes, with a special tool that creates vacuum in the system first to get the air pockets out. Watch my other video how this is done ok german vehicles. Find it in my channel and you will understand how it is done... Thanks

Fill the bottle up keep the cap off start the engine and leave running for 10 mins with your heater on flat out keep looking at the level and fill up after 7 minutes the thermostat will open and pull all the new coolant around make sure you have no bubbles then fit the cap Turn the screw to let air out now it’s under pressure and do the middle one then the back one Then drive to get flat wait till cold and check your level when cold it should be under the full mark
