The dev has been making wangan midnight since the original R in 2001/2 to today 6RR or whatever they have in the arcades Shutoko Battle/TXR as an IP has existed since 1994, as old as the original Wangan Midnight manga itself. bamco/then namco picked them up to make the games, and the arcade game is basically just a stripped and dumbed down version of Genki's own TXR series, without all the in depth mechanics (tyre wear, engine temps, tuning/adjustments, etc... you know, which actually reflects the intricacies of highway battle as depicted in Wangan Midnight itself)
