We are wanting to relocate to France as well, we are in our fifties and looking for a much more relaxing life. Any words of wisdom to get us on our journey would be greatly appreciated.
Best of luck! That is exciting! What is your timeline? Will you retire or find a way to keep working there? That seems to be the biggest decision... if you need to make money and how. That'll play a role in everything from the property you buy, to the visa you get. Do you have the book Foolproof French Visas? I bought that. It is so helpful! You can find it on Amazon.
@@LetsBuyAChateau Our timeline greatly depends on the political environment in November. We would like to not have to work but if we did, our thought is that we could open an American style bakery. We don't have that book, I'll look on Amazon.
@@terryjones9399 We're hoping to buy this year or early next year. We'll make the permanent move May 2025. Work & school-wise it'll be best for us. We want the house before the move so we can get life set up ahead of time: House clean up, furniture finding, school enrollment, etc...
Those trees 🌴 by the river were cool, like the architecture in background, guess you can’t post pictures of the places your NOT Picking(see if I’ve looked at them?) started looking at chateau’s, manors, chartreuse & bourgeois 👍off the 44,000++ types of properties last 4 yrs maybe 2600? Give or take, on my second laptop so don’t lose those pdf files(wth)…so many to look at(only French Properties)
I was so nervous about giving away the location, at all. Not even just trying to save it for myself lol. I was hoping to respect the people's privacy... Especially if something I said could be construed as negative, I would feel bad if I swayed somebody. How about I tell you the towns of the places I didn't choose? 🙃 Chef Boutonne and Saint Cyprien. And I would love to hear about your search process! What are you finding? Any successes or frustrations?
Oh my goodness, after I posted this video I realized I never mentioned anything about that! Sadly, no. I did not make it over to that Chateau up for auction. It broke my heart!
@@marcelomadruga8960I know. You're so right! Timing and my location just couldn't match up with the other viewings... Ah well. I have no doubt someone picked it up and will do something amazing with it!
@@LetsBuyAChateau I always thought to buy a Chateau, and turn it into a Petit Hotel, and use the Gites for a Restaurant and a "Local Specialized Products Supermarket". I'm very excited to follow you and learn more about costs, burocracies and local laws. Pls keep us informed and very good luck.
@@marcelomadruga8960 You are so kind. Thank you! And oh yes, I'm see lots of bureaucracy in my future, lol! And I'll absolutely share my experiences. I think you are on the right track with your ideas!! We're definitely hoping to have gites. Maybe host retreats a couple of times a year.
Lets see how fast you can sell your house, literally real estate market is crashing due to interest rates, I predict you wont sell it fast, unless its a dirt cheap
Enjoyed your report. I have enjoyed your videos. Thanks!
Awesome, thank you! Glad to hear it. Thanks for coming along for the ride ☺️.
Good luck on your adventure!
Thank you!!

Did you go alone? So looking for a house/maison and not a chateau? Such a great adventure!
Yep, I went alone. And I did see one that was a Maison, but it was too small for me.
Saw three others that were chateaux.
And what about the Castle that was going to auction? You didn't visit it?
