      @@Jake-ho5ij you could probably sue either the auction house or the guy who put that damn engine in there, depending on who owned it at time of sale, and if it was misrepresented. Wouldn't even have to be blatant since a corvette is expected to have a corvette engine, not a truck engine... Only problem is. You'd spend so much on a damn lawyer and court fees and stuff. That even if you did win, it would still cost less to just go to the junkyard and buy 20 more decent engines. Plus, suing over every little thing is douchey. The overly litigious nature of people these days is one of the things ruining the country. Everyone is so afraid of lawsuits, liability on anything fun is incredibly high, insurance is therefore super expensive and nobody wants to deal with all that headache and expense, so fun stuff gets banned.

    • @Dockhead
      @Dockhead 5 років тому

      @@blackhawks81H it should simply be a thing of contacting the auction house and explaining it was a false listing since it displayed a corvette engine in description. they would replace by law or have to. you phone the police before it even leaves the auction yard. have all proof of purchase etc. im sure all would happen would be a refund but hey gets the point across.
      Im not sure on US laws but anything sold as 'spares or repairs' or 'sold as seen' in the UK means you can sell anything without a proper description of what is what. but auction houses etc selling working cars means you are liable to what you sell meaning incorrect sellings get put under fraudulent activity or gets replicated right before law is involved. if it was a sold as seen then sometimes it can be legally held even with just pics or videos like he said he had a look at on the auction website.

      I think the camshaft seized in the block because of the lack of oil pressure and then the chain snapped because something had to give. They couldn’t even beat the cam out with a dead blow! Then the pistons smashed into the open valves and met their demise. And the rest is collateral damage.

      As cool as it would be for them to do that, I think they have enough projects going right now. Even if they did take your uncle's Camaro, it'd probably just sit in a corner somewhere until they (eventually) get Leroy, Neighbor, Ruby, and Cooper's CTS in as stable a shape as they can.

    Wonder how many pistons were cracked before the start of the last pass? When she came apart, it was massive destruction.

      Yeah there was quite a bit of blowby the pass before it blew. Just wonder how many were cracked after that pass before the last pass. It held together quite well considering.

    The ring lands aren't the things that touch, it's the ring ends. On a boosted motor, you need a bigger gap at the ring ends. With the higher pressures and temperatures that come with boosted motors, the metal in the rings grows more, and you need to leave room for that ring growth or the ends will touch. On this stock motor, the ring ends didn't have room when they grew, so they touched, pushing the whole ring against the cylinder wall instead. When this happens, it creates an interference fit between the rings and the cylinder wall, and puts extreme pressure on the ring land areas of the pistons. This in turn cracks the ring lands, and in extreme cases like yours, breaks the piston right in half.
