      What he means is the service. You can eat food at home, so why do you eat at a restaurant? Sometimes a cheaper restaurant has better food than the more expensive, so why go to the more expensive? It's feeling & experience. That's the same reason why gastronomy food restaurants are so pricy - they are using chemistry and physics to create an experience.

      LightMagic: If you'll notice, the managers are also older. Could be that anyone looking to build a luxury hotel in China, wanted an EXPERIENCED manager, so they searched for those in western Europe who had years of experience managing luxury hotels. Luxury hotels are fairly new in China so it could be that they could not find "locals" who had the experience to know what wealthy travelers wanted. My guess would be that in a decade or two, we'll see more and more Chinese managing these luxury hotels once they've gained the experience of working in such hotels and worked their way up.

      Chao Zhu yeah yes please elaborate what do you mean by “communist politically”... the whole Marxism and Communist political ideologies center around a non-market/anti-market state controlled planned economy and a radical vision for equality. How can u be ‘politically communist’ when a country’s prosperity almost entirely attributed to its economic marketization, privatization and internationalization? market economy institutes rapid economic and obviously it is also bad for equality. Apparently China today prioritizes growth more than equality. Plus ‘bourgeoisie’ were allowed to gain CCP membership since the 1990s, that includes Jack Ma. So yeah China is very ‘politically communist’ as DPRK is a democratic republic. Period

      catonpillow: Not necessarily. I'm not jealous at all. I just kept thinking, "7 billion people in the world and the majority of them are living in poverty, and yet the "1%" are obviously LOOKING for ways to spend their money". Matter of fact, before I retired, I traveled for work quite often. I didn't stay at hotels like these, but I did stay at Hiltons, Marriotts, etc. At first, it was exciting and I'd enjoy checking out the room and the hotel. After a few times though, all I wanted was a hot shower in a clean bathroom and a reasonably-comfortable bed.
      Nowadays, I never hear the term "conspicuous consumption" anymore. Years ago, it was used often, and it referred to people with "new" money who spent it to impress others and show that they had "arrived". It was considered "tacky" to spend like that. The sad thing in this world is that how much money you have is now considered a MORAL issue. If you're poor, you're "less than" and not a good person. If you're wealthy, you're a GOOD PERSON, a good human being.

    • @catonpillow

How we spend our money shouldn’t matter to others because we earned it and to be honest we have tons to spend many just want a good experience whether it seems wasteful or not. We can donate money but donating money isn’t a requirement because in the end the money is mine. people always look at the surface but they don’t see our hard work behind the scene .if anything, this video should give people inspiration to work hard I wanted to live life like this so I work hard there is not thing wrong with that. China got rich.
    Let's see how they handle it .

    • @walden6272
      @walden6272 4 роки тому +2

      People often forget China has been rich through out history. During ancient time, Rome and China did trading called the Silk Road and China was rich, the Roman Empire gave lots of gold and silvers to China for their silk, porcelain and artifacts. During the previous century, China was also rich when it sold tea to British Empire. In fact, the Brits were so obsessive with tea, they ran out of money to purchase more so they launch an Opium War on China, smuggling drugs into China and weakening their society before orchestrating a coalition of 7 countries (Spain, Portugal, France, Japan, etc) to launch an invasion to attack China and brought the country to its knees. And as China surrenders, some of these countries got a piece of China's land, Britain got Hong Kong, Japan occupy Taiwan, and Portugal got Macau. This is what China calls the 100 year of humiliation. China lost their golds and wealth as those nations took it. China now has rise back up. So what has China done when they have been a rich country in history? They have not invaded their neighbors, they could have easily conquer Japan, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand in ancient time when they were among the most powerful nation with the largest army and the only naval force in the China seas. China rather focus more on trades and relations with their neighbors. This is what China does when they are rich. So that is why China is focusing on their One Belt One Road Initiative which is call the modern day Silk Road, it will join all nations in Eurasia into an economic block so that all economies will be link and prosperity will spread. Of course the West, leading by US feels threaten by this development as China will emerge as the center of world economic power. So US who has been China's closest trading partner in the past now demonizes China like they do with Russia to stop China's growth. So we see the trade wars and the claims of Chinese companies spying and stealing. It's all about launching a new coalition to take down China as Britain successfully did a hundred years ago. But this time, China learned from their mistakes in history, have develop hyper-sonic missiles capable of nuking any countries within 30 minutes and these missiles cannot be stop since it's 8 times the speed of sound and can also maneuvers and changes direction in flight, therefore missile defense systems are not capable of stopping them. So China wants the US and those conspiring to take it down again, to realize if China has to they will nuke them all. And unfortunately, it seems the West is focus on pushing forward with their hostility. China and Russia then decides to become Allies, so with the backing of Russia also capable of nuking the entire world. Both of them are now telling USA to back off. However, the US isn't willing to share the world stage, it wants to remain the sole hegemony and superpower. In the past, the old superpower has often go to war with the rising power. Britain back when it was the superpower went to war with America. I hope this time due to nuclear capabilities of these nations, war will be averted. Humanity would end if the West and East ever go into World War 3. I hope peace and prosperity triumph. No matter which side you belong, there is no winning in a war. There's only death and destruction. This is one of the reason why China avoid wars at all cost, despite the UN going into wars in the Middle East, China doesn't join despite being part of the UN. In the East, the philosophy of peace is if your neighbors are doing well, they will not have reasons to attack you. So with their riches today, I hope to see China continue this philosophy and help other nations become prosperous like what they are doing in Africa and parts of South America.

    The answer is because 90% of China is still made of villages and huts, along the coast of China, everything after 50 miles inland is poverty ridden... this is why China has 1.4 billion citizens, and the majority want to live in the coast... I’m not saying China isn’t the future dominant superpower without a war but what I am saying is that.
