The fact that Snap-on sells you only 6 piece set for that price is madness. 😤

Those sunex impact swivels are a killer set for a pretty good price too. They are essentially the same as the matco adv, but for less than a 3rd of the price. They hold up really well too. Even though they have a collar, they don't really affect accessibility like a 3/8" drive set would because they are so tiny already. I also have a grey pneumatic 1/4" deep swivel impact socket set. Deep 1/4" swivels are almost impossible to find. Only a couple of companies have them in deep. I also have the matco pinless set. That set was freaking $600!!! I absolutely love them though! They are so tiny and so strong. They can fit everywhere! I keep the matcos at the house and my sunex are my road set that i take on mobile calls, so i don't hate myself if i loose one lol. Cornwell makes awesome swivels too, but the mac ones are killer!!

Thanks for the review. Here's my take on what you had to say. You saved me from considering the Gearwrench which I was leaning toward. What you showed about the collar made me eliminate both them and Capri that I had also considered, as a rule Capri is pretty good. It seems to me that if you have enough room for that huge gaudy collar, you could probably use a regular socket. I'm just a DIY guy that wouldn't use them enough to justify the Snap On but there have been a couple of times recently that I wish that I had 1/4" universal socket. As you said not a lot of companies make them. I usually buy Icon or Tekton but neither make them and after your review, I would only consider them if they were the pinless style without a huge collar. You helped me decide, actually made it obvious what I should buy. Thank you.

It's crazy how expensive the 1/4" universals are(impact and chrome) i'd suggest getting the proto or cornwell sets

Agree with you 100% about the Gearwrench x-core and their pinned universal sockets. I bought the 3/8” Gearwrench x-core set, used the 14mm one time and deformed one of the legs on the x-core and it would always catch on that spot so I got ride of them and bought a set of Sunex. Haven’t had any issue with the Sunex. I didn’t learn my lesson with Gearwrench the first time so I bought a 1/2” drive pinned universal set, used the 22mm on some suspension bolts and deformed the slot where the pin goes through and it would also catch. Sold those and bought an Icon set. Haven’t used them yet so not sure how they’ll hold up.

Cornwell seems to the best in price for USA & completeness especially when on sale..I have Snap on , ADV & Cornwell..I like them all , each seems to have various differences that could make a difference in situations..sweet deal on the Sunex for sure..

I use Semi-Deep sockets literally every day. Hands down the first set to buy. Sunex makes a nice 3/8 set

Are all those 1/4” for Sunex? What is part # for the set?

Have both. Snap On makes the best hands down. The torque test channel tested them and they transferred the most TORQUE and won the reliability test. I still really like my SUNEX, however very disappointed they recently moved manufacturing to CHINA. Deal breaker for me.
ALSO: If your impacts are getting wallowed out just warranty them. Easy. And STOP using a chrome extension lol. It’s harder than the impact and will wear it out.

I've been a professional mechanic for nearly 30 years and I've never felt the need to own any 1/4" impacts, swivel or otherwise 🤷‍♀️

@@andrewm.upchurch5567 I have a 1/4" electric ratchet for time savings... works great with all my 1/4" chrome sockets. I just have never encountered a fastener smaller than 13mm that required an impact 🤷‍♀️

If you use an impact driver, you would. (Honda) and Toyota techs use them all the time.
