An underestimated or highly thought of weapon in his arsenal. His style of passing demoralized defenses. Had home crowds screaming at almost every game. Had opposing crowds shook and low key cheering. A mental aspect of his game that was an added method of getting easier W’s. Thank God I was alive to see it live. The Showtime Lakers was something that will never ever be duplicated.
He won finals MVP as a rookie at 20 scoring 42 points 15 rebounds and 7 assists. In his 12 year career, he went to the finals 9 times, winning 5, 3 regular season MVPs, 3 finals MVP. In his final season, he finished second in mvp voting to Jordan, led his team to a 58 24 record in the regular season, losing in the finals to Jordan and the Bulls. The next year without him, they went 43 39, losing in the first round in 4 games with the same team basically. Magic was great and made all his teammates better.
YESSSS, ROOKIE YEAR IN 80 😊 HE WAS PHENOMENAL AND THE GREATEST FINALS GAME EVERRR PLAYED GAME 6 ON THE ROAD IN PHILLY 123-107 : 42 POINTS, 15 BOARDS, 7 DIMES, 3 BLOCKS, 2 STEALS 😮 INSANE AND BEAUTIFUL GUYS!!! 💯
I dont know if you guys read this shit....But yes, it was his rookie year that he got that finals MVP. Kareem got injured in game 5 and didnt even make the trip to Philly, and Magic started at center and got 42 points to close it out. That was 1980. And it was 1984 when the Tragic Johnson thing happened. Magic was actually Brilliant in the series, But it was at the end of game 7 when he had a turnover, and Bird started calling him Tragic Johnson and he called the team the Fakers. Just ungracious winners syndrome, and the Lakers took it to them the next season
Won an NCAA Div. 1 Championship in 1979 straight to the NBA an won a Championship and MVP in 1980. Best PG ever hands down if you understood the role of a PG. Steph is the Greatest shooter hands down. Magic and Messi greatest passers ever.
If I was going to start a winning dynasty my first pick would be Larry Bird. Then I'd immediately pick Jordan and Magic, and then argue about the rest. Yep Magic played center in place of Kareem in the finals his rookie year. In that game he scored 42 points 15 boards and 7 assists. Even so Larry Bird won Rookie of the year.
I was a laker fan and always rooted for any team to knock off the Celtics before the finals because those series were so intense that it almost hurt lol. I'm glad I got to see them though.
Magic has highest career win % still with Larry was just behind by few loses. The 80’s just bred killer instinct. Even though Magic & Isiah were close friends when they met in the finals Magic sent Isiah flying with an elbow @ tip off. Despite their reputation the Lakers bullied the Bad Boys.
RIP😮 TO THE LOGO, JERRY WEST DIED TODAY GUYS☹HE PUT ALLLLLLLL THOSE GREAT LAKER TEAMS TOGETHER💯, THROUGH SCOUTING, DRAFTING, EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR, HE'S ALSO INDUCTED INTO THE HALL FOR THE 3RD TIME THIS YEAR BUT HE WON'T BE THERE! AMAZING GUY AND PERSON HE WAS, HE'LL BE MISSED SORELY, HE WAS 86 YOU GUYS 😊
Lebron James is the greatest complete basketball player. Magic Johnson is the greatest complete point guard. My all time starting lineup is LBJ, MAGIC, MJ, SHAQ, and Tim Duncan.
Why people keep bringing up the 80s and 90s is because the way they played back then you can't now. The dumb down the game alot today. Can't play defense like that these days

I saw it all.. And I'm tellin ya.. It was the greatest thing I have ever seen in sports
Magic would be my first pick to start any team. Any era.
Showtime lakers would run any team off the floor.
I DID see all that live....nothing like it!

Respect for saying your top 5 best and top 5 favorite is different. Too many people try to argue their favorite is the GOAT.
It makes me laugh when people say Magic wasn't a shooter
IT TOOK MOST OF UM ( 8 ) YEARS YOU GUYS! 😊 SHAQ, MICHALEL, LEBRON, ISAIAH, ETC! 😮

That's just Larry Bird lol.
The story about magic signing with converse instead of Nike is crazy

The tragic Johnson game... Magic had a triple double...

Now you see why Larry Bird and Magic Johnson will be forever linked together just like they where mirrors of each other.
Memories.......

Amen felt the same. The nerves & butterflies in the last 2 minutes of the game. Belly was flip flopping at each shot.

Magic has the best nba game career winning % of all time
Yes, he's the only rookie to this day to win finals MVP!
I'm Curry' fan, but Magic is the best PG ever
and after him Oscar Robertson, John Stockton, Isiah Thomas...
8:24…that was the game clock. Back in the day, they didn’t display the shot clock on TV
Magic is the GOAT. Fight me on it. I saw it
I've been saying this all along....my all time favorite
I think it's Jordan. But when people say it's Magic, I don't argue
They'll have to fight both of us on that...and they'll loose🤔🐐
They talk over the full court shot!
😊
I don't know why, but Magic is like Captain Kirk.
❤❤
You missed maybe the craziest shot ever made.. At like 9.20 you stopped the vid to talk and missed something amazing
Exactly
Magic had the same demeanor throughout the game and without the way they played you children don't have the same backbone so look and learn.

Now days it's a foul for just touching a guy. If the Pistons of the late 80s played now, half the team would foul out every game.
TOP 10???!!!...TYPICAL
Why does Ant man say they didn't have skill?
