An underestimated or highly thought of weapon in his arsenal. His style of passing demoralized defenses. Had home crowds screaming at almost every game. Had opposing crowds shook and low key cheering. A mental aspect of his game that was an added method of getting easier W’s.
Thank God I was alive to see it live. The Showtime Lakers was something that will never ever be duplicated.
Magic would be my first pick to start any team. Any era.
Showtime lakers would run any team off the floor.
He won finals MVP as a rookie at 20 scoring 42 points 15 rebounds and 7 assists. In his 12 year career, he went to the finals 9 times, winning 5, 3 regular season MVPs, 3 finals MVP. In his final season, he finished second in mvp voting to Jordan, led his team to a 58 24 record in the regular season, losing in the finals to Jordan and the Bulls. The next year without him, they went 43 39, losing in the first round in 4 games with the same team basically. Magic was great and made all his teammates better.
I saw it all.. And I'm tellin ya.. It was the greatest thing I have ever seen in sports

Respect for saying your top 5 best and top 5 favorite is different. Too many people try to argue their favorite is the GOAT.
Now you see why Larry Bird and Magic Johnson will be forever linked together just like they where mirrors of each other.
I dont know if you guys read this shit....But yes, it was his rookie year that he got that finals MVP. Kareem got injured in game 5 and didnt even make the trip to Philly, and Magic started at center and got 42 points to close it out. That was 1980. And it was 1984 when the Tragic Johnson thing happened. Magic was actually Brilliant in the series, But it was at the end of game 7 when he had a turnover, and Bird started calling him Tragic Johnson and he called the team the Fakers. Just ungracious winners syndrome, and the Lakers took it to them the next season

If I was going to start a winning dynasty my first pick would be Larry Bird. Then I'd immediately pick Jordan and Magic, and then argue about the rest.

I was a laker fan and always rooted for any team to knock off the Celtics before the finals because those series were so intense that it almost hurt lol. I'm glad I got to see them though.
Amen felt the same. The nerves & butterflies in the last 2 minutes of the game. Belly was flip flopping at each shot.
Magic has highest career win % still with Larry was just behind by few loses. The 80’s just bred killer instinct. Even though Magic & Isiah were close friends when they met in the finals Magic sent Isiah flying with an elbow @ tip off. Despite their reputation the Lakers bullied the Bad Boys.

Won an NCAA Div. 1 Championship in 1979 straight to the NBA an won a Championship and MVP in 1980. Best PG ever hands down if you understood the role of a PG. Steph is the Greatest shooter hands down. Magic and Messi greatest passers ever.

Why people keep bringing up the 80s and 90s is because the way they played back then you can't now. The dumb down the game alot today. Can't play defense like that these days
Now days it's a foul for just touching a guy. If the Pistons of the late 80s played now, half the team would foul out every game.
