Hey Andrew. I just bought my second 2005 f150 and stupidly I finally decided to try out the cruise control. Luckily I was only going 20 km and it worked when I turned it on but now it won’t shut off! Do you have any recommendations on how I could fix it?
Had a question, but I just installed some on my truck waiting til next week to get them reprogrammed. I noticed that the right side 3 buttons light up when I have the cluster lit up at night time. The left on/off switch doesn’t. Not sure if it’s because it’s not programmed or something else. If you know just let me know! Btw Installed then for the first time, I have the base model XL Thanks
Thanks Keith! I actually just picked up a set of 5 ratcheting wrenches with swivel heads from harbor freight for only $25. Put em to the torture test right away and they’ve already proven their worth
@@AndrewDoesLife I wonder if a 1/4 drive ratchet, 3-5 inch long extension, universal and a deep well 8mm socket would go through the access hole and make those nuts easier to get off
I have an 06 the black buttons broke off the cruise PS There r two little white switches under the cover. I just left the cover off and pushed them with my finger the cruise works great mmm is it really worth it to start pulling the steering and air bag plus tedious bolts. apart to fix this . I seen the switch on E bay like 45 canadian to my door an 2 hrs of grrr. I'm leaving it, maybe summer i might fix it. He did an excellent job showing how to change this switch out !
How did you determine the switches were the problem? I have an 04' F150. Changed battery and cruise control stopped working at the same time. Checked the #2 fuse and it was good. I replaced the cruise control inhibitor switch (white/blue plunger) but it changed nothing. Before guessing at what parts to purchase next, I'd just like to learn how you determined both your steering wheel switches needed replaced? Thanx
It was a process of elimination. I would check and see if your 3rd brake light is functioning. If it is not, and some of the bulb are burned out, it will disable your cruise control. It's a pretty weird thing but I guess they did that as sort of a alarm system since you typically don't see your 3rd brake light in action
Thanx for the reply. My third brake light has been out for a year or better. Cruise still worked. Today I pulled off the other switch mounted on the brake pedal. A skinny black one. Took it apart and it is a very simple switch with three moving parts. So there is no way for it to fail unless the copper contact bars melt in half. But it was super clean inside anyway. After some research I think I need to dive into the dash and hunt for a connector that may have wiggled around.
THANK YOU!! I am going to be adding cruise control to my truck found some F150 with the buttons in them knew about everything EXCEPT the other 8 mm studs on the backside of the switch! Isaw them and should have thought about it but it didn't dawn on me and I could not get out the switches:(. So Now that I know about those I can get those switches!!
I have all the buttons on my steering wheel, from on, off, res, set, cat, but none of them are responding. What can be the problem, is there a solution? Thank you.
Thank you! I am trying to get an intro that I'll put at the beginning of every single video, make it consistent and all. I'm considering going on like fiver or somewhere and paying someone to make me a dope one
@@AndrewDoesLife hey for the muffler video I'm trying to straight pipe my truck and was wondering how do I figure out what size clamp do I need? I want to cut the muffler off then probably add the other pipe to have a side exhaust.
Your exhaust pipe is 2.5 inches in diameter so you’ll need a clamp that’s 2 and 3/4 to go over it to clamp it down. You can always just take a measuring tape and see how big your exhaust pipe is in case you’re nervous about the size and all!
On the comment below I use Alcohol because it want melt the plastic switches. It gets inside the switches and cleans the contact and they will start working again.
The title says "super easy" but he says it's "really tedious" several times. I know this job is beyond my capabilities so I guess it's no more cruise control on my truck for me. Thanks for taking the time to make the video....
You can do it! The process is easy and minimal tools are required, I said tedious in the sense of it can be annoying to do, not necessarily that it is difficult or that a lot of skill is required! You got this!
my 150 the truck right side set button broke off it looked like it clipped in, do i have to change to whole harness hope i don't drop those two bolts down the columm grrrr u better go easy with the knife I'm just as bad but i'm not all cut up I'm confused y said pull the 10 red fuse there were a few of them there might b a number in my manual KX
Hey Dan, yeah I do believe you'll have to replace the entire harness. I do not think you can replace individual buttons, I could be wrong, but it seems like they are a packaged deal
Hey Ethan! A back-up camera is definitely on the way, I plan on adding a double din touch screen head unit first on the truck then installing a back up camera to go with it. One thing at a time though, these things all cost money haha!
I just flipped my air bag on top of the steering wheel. Not unplugging. Fuse is out. I used a wiggle joint on 8mm socket thru the holes used to get the airbag loose to get the two nuts off and on the back of the switch. Just me. Easier than a wrench.

I'm sure I will be using this video at some point, thanks as always. Like the new intro brother
No problem Felipe!!! Happy to help
Great video Andrew! No mechanic should charge me extra money for maybe 1/2 hour worth of simple work!
Very true!

Buy a set of Gear-Wrenches, they're a wrench that has a "ratchet" at the closed end. Makes things like this easier....nice tractor btw.

Thanks Bryce! 🇺🇸
Thank you for this video. I was dreading removing the air bag. Those 8mm nuts is what was worse. Cruise works now
Happy to help! 👍🏻

Lovin the intro
Thank you! Made it myself today, been looking for an intro I can put at the beginning of all of my videos
Hey Andrew, great vid bro! Just wanted to know if you had to reprogram it after it was installed?
No, this was a true plug and play replacement. No reprogramming necessary.

This guy is dangerous why not just get the correct size tool and do the job right
