WHEN will this amazing band ever see their entire catalogue get released in the CD format, for a special box set? In the 1980's, when their Dark Blue Star blazed across the college station radio airwaves, everything they issued was on vinyl. Regretfully, their music has been out of print for decades. COME ON. Someone, please, give this Irish band their long overdue appreciation and issue their complete recorded history as a super deluxe box set. Multiple CD's, book, photography, track listings, liner notes, interviews with the band, if possible. I'm ready to buy it and I'm sure I'm not alone in making that decision! If anyone can help make this happen, I am truly grateful. With Maximum Love and Respect from North Hollywood, California, Joe
Somebody really does need to put out a box set of their music out on CD and vinyl. They were such a great band! I had Explicit Material on cassette when I was a teen living in California in the 80s' and I listened to it so much I warped it! LOL I'm not a vinyl collector at all but I've recently started buying their vinyl because I want to actually own some of their official material. I would also like them to do some reunion gigs, because they have quite a few fans still and many of us never got the chance to see them live. I now live in Europe and I would travel to London or Dublin to see them.
Was talking to the owner of my local record store the other day when she brought this band up. I had never heard of them before so I looked them up and here I am. Definitely gonna be listening to more from these guys
If any of the band members are reading this please know that you have a lot of fans that would love to see you reunite and perform live. I lived in California in the mid 80's as a teen and I had Explicit Material on cassette. I listened to it so much that it actually warped. LOL I never got to see you live because I didn't drive and it was very difficult to get to shows. I was getting into punk/goth music at the time and your music helped me travel down that road of self discovery. I now live in Europe, and I would be totally willing to travel to Dublin or London to see you perform.
So many amazing Irish bands that never made it:( But Blue in Heaven were my absolute favourite. I was obsessed with them. The singer reminded me of Billy Idol. I never got to buy any of their music and Ive been wishing I could hear them again for 30 odd years. So thank you soooooo much!:)
One of the best bands in the mid 80s. I had several of their songs on tape and I swear that I can't find any of their MP3's to download or even buy. Thank you soooo much for putting this up. I've loved this band for 20+ years...so thank you!
Massive BIH fan from Boston, MA. These guys should have been massive. Really great to see this stuff posted. Trying to track down the SUPERNAUT album Shane did with Dave Long (ex-Into Paradise) Have both BIH records digitally. Happy to swap.
I’m down on the S Shore Tim and I remember listening to these guys on WFNX. They were the only radio station that would play blue in heaven. I remember the song from the 80s. I’m probably around your age
One of the reasons I started playing bass 23 years ago! Not that the playing was anything so hot, but it was thick, repetitive, simple, driving, all the things I like in bass playing.
Amazing Band! great to see this. Saw them December 87, Westport Castlecourt! What a gig!. ears deaffened for a week! Been caning Explicit Material for 23 years! Love This Band!. Yes play more shows lads!
so i was working in a record store when the lp 'explicit material' came in as an in store copy promo. the manager was into whatever crap was popular that week, and there was a lot of it. so when the whitney houston promo record also came in that day, i quickly discarded the vinyl record portion of the whitney album and inserted the blue in heaven album into the the whitney lp jacket, since the manager had seen there was a new whitney album that had come in. that was how i never had to hear it.
Wasnt aware of them that much back in the 80s. Heard their "all the gods men" album for the first time last week, one of my friends brought it over on vinyl, sounds amazingly fresh, great songs and of course Hannetts great production! Time they reformed!
The best Irish Band Ever.... The gigs at Sir Henrys were some of the best nights i've ever had... does anyone remember the lark by the lee when BIH played... Brilliant!
I remember when this was new in tower records !!!! love this band to death great stuff !!!!! they need to release and make cds again ........... the one song you don't here about that i liked , was called ( the beating in my head ) miss them a lot !!!!!
Hey I have a bunch of BIH stuff up to the Explicit period and I even have the Supernaut CD which is not too shabby. Would love to hear from anyone with the Rock'n'Roll RIP EP or ahyone with anything by the Blue Angels incarnation. And Shane et al if you've found this I hope all is well and thanks for the great memories!!
UNBELIEVEBLE!!!! Not even good quality sound i can found in internet, not even the name! And here...i just wrote the words because i'm writing every favourite bands... All Gods Men and "Sometimes" are a must!
I tried to follow the track of the band, included called to Island records a 100 years ago...nothing ! We are very few here in POrtugal...but we do exist also! I Still can not believe this. BLUE IN HEAVEN. Some friends have the vynil but we are still trying to find ao to get the best from it. Its unique... That CD, DVD, whatever, could be possible for me?
THANK YOU SO GO**MN MUCH!!!! blue in heaven and the sound are my 2 favorite bands ever and it is soooo hard to find stuff by them, i have been trying to find this video for years, i mean literallt since like 90 when i first heard blue in heaven. is there any possible way i could get a copy of these videos!!!!!?????
Blue In Heaven are excellent, Hugh Jones & Martin Hannett productions are great to listen to, even now, it still sounds fresh. Supernaut CD is not great, although the Into Paradise are better. I've heard that BIH loved the obscure bands The Chameleons / The Sound & Comsat Angels.
Good to see another fan of BiH, there aren't many of us around. I posted another video earlier, of the B-side to this, "beating in my head". I also have some live stuff that I'll upload over the next few days. I would make you a copy of this stuff, but as you can see the original is not great quality, and it would degrade further if I was to copy it again. Also, I'm in the UK (PAL) and you're in the US (NTSC). Keep watching.....
I love Blue In Heaven also, they're one of my favorite band. I wouldn't say they were the best Irish Band, as i could mention another one (you might know them): This Burning Effigy HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO LIKE THE DARK, GOTH STUFF!!!
seen them and something happens and a few other bands at an irish weekend in the mean fiddler in london mid to late eighties, and i can tell you this, the lead singer takes been spat on better than the laed singer of something happens
fantastic memories of BIH gigs. Raw, Intense and sweaty along with chants of ' Shano is a wanker' referring to his Hot Press interview where he proudly announced ejaculation as his favorite pastime
this song is from 'explict material'. it's good, especially when at it's release there was just so much horrible music at the time. i know, i worked in a record store at the time. this album is more accessible than 'all the god's men', although hardcore bih fans preferred that album more, i ithink. 'gods' was a little too experimental or thick sounding for me, but i did like it.

Check out Moll & Zeis. Shane is in that.
I used to listen to this on indie rock radio in the 80’s as a teen.

Omg love them!!! Always have. Always will. Amazing memories of drunken teenage nights in The Baggot Inn....

Does anyone have a scan of the SPIN article on them from like 1987? Shane had some opinions!
seen them and something happens and a few other bands at an irish weekend in the mean fiddler in london mid to late eighties, and i can tell you this, the lead singer takes been spat on better than the laed singer of something happens

fantastic memories of BIH gigs.
Raw, Intense and sweaty along with chants of ' Shano is a wanker' referring to his Hot Press interview where he proudly announced ejaculation as his favorite pastime
This is a song about lust with a Joy Division atmosphere. What can't you like about that?
i wish they would reform for a few gigs i recon they'd get a lot of fans like us going to see them
U2 got them on Island but beyond that not much luck for them. A solid record with Hugh Jones & Martin Hannet Producing.
This video was made in sir Henry's
27 years?
Sir Henry's
can somebody post the lyrics?
Yes I do, but not on video.
