Hey guys, sorry it's been a while. In the past few weeks, I moved to Beijing, found a new apartment, started a new job, so a lot has changed and the only constant is...I still have no idea what I'm doing🙂
In this moving vlog, I'm showing you the hectic two days from accepting a job offer, to taking a COVID test, unmaking over my apartment, packing, taking the bullet train, and starting a new life in Beijing, all in less than 30 hours.
This is the first time I've had to move in China, and I've learned a lot in the process. If you are curious what moving in China is like/have any questions about how it works, drop a comment below, and I'll try my best to answer/address them in the next video.

🙋🏻♀️ HELLO
hi i'm evelyn. thanks for stopping by!
➭ what do you do? i'm a tech project manager
➭ where are you located? Beijing
➭ what's your weird accent? i grew up in china and went to college in the US. my accent is as confused as I am...
➭ why tapiocapress? Cuz I’m a content-publishing bubble tea enthusiast. Subscribe for vlogs, recipe videos, lifestyle tips, and other inspirations from the life of a twenty-something.
Very inspiring video for those willing to take risks in life. Life can lead you to so many great experiences if you are willing to take chances and think outside the box. To all the younger people who want to try something new, don't let fear stop you. Have courage and stay dedicated to your dreams. I have visited Beijing four times in the past and that was because of Love. I found love in Beijing and with it a whole new experience of emotions and curiosity for a new culture outside of my own. Wish you zhu ni hao yun in your new home city of Beijing.
Thank you!! Thanks for sharing your story...All the best to you too:)
Honestly I love how you assume something wrong must happen at some point. It makes you stronger and ready
That's my go-to mindset in a risky situation - helps most of the times, but also makes me more risk averse than I'd like to be😆
You are so brave for picking up and moving on after having a crazy year of thinking you were going to be staying in Chicago, having to move back home, to taking a job in a country you didn't expect to! Congrats on the new job and best of luck. I look forward to following your Beijing journey~
Also, this video makes me really wish I was in Taiwan right now ahhh. Had these plans to see family there and do a big Asia trip.
Ahh thank you💕 it’s been such a wild ride but I feel very fortunate to be where I am today☺️ sending lots of love from Beijing, and hope your Taiwan trip happens soon🤞🏼(I’ve always wanted to go to Taiwan! Hopefully I’ll get to go soon too haha)
Wow! I was searching for the "beijing" word because I am studying there next year. I will follow you to know more about your life in beijing!
Wooohooo🎉 Beijing has so much to offer I’m so excited for you to come and explore! Keep in touch, and lmk if I can help answer any questions👍🏼
I also just moved to Beijing from San Francisco and I'm echoing every part of your video. Good luck!!
Good luck to you too!!!
How?

Discovering your channel and loving it!
ahhh thank you love💕😇
Me too!
This video felt more like yearning for Chicago than optimism for Beijing - this move must have been really tough for you.
But keep strong and it's only upwards from here :)
Definitely still not ready to leave Chicago, but I'm happy to report life in Beijing has been good😃Fingers crossed that the last part of your comment continues to be true🤞🏼
Your videos have become my absolute favourite on this platform!
Sara you made my day! Thank you for sharing the comment✨💕still trying to figure out how to balance between yt and work for now, but will definitely keep it up!

That carpet, for next time its easier if you put in the center bottom first and then spread it to each corner of your bed.
Thanks for the tip!

Can feel your emotions. Sad but excited and afraid..?
And have no idea what I'm doing🙈
我最喜欢的城市就是北京所以我爱这个视频😱❤
Edit :我是英国人 已经学中文一年。希望你看得懂!
哈哈你说的很棒!我也很喜欢北京 欢迎来玩😃
tapiocapress 谢谢‼️
You're killin in! Keep it up :D
😃🙏🏼
Interesting blog. Got many overseas Chinese as friends and we can talk about anything. So did you negotiate a good salary ?
'Sometimes moving on isn't a choice.'
I couldn't have said it better 😢
All the best!
@@tapiocapress Thanks, I need it. I'm also moving to Beijing in a week!
@@beatricedlamini3083 hows it going? Enjoyed yourself in Beijing or met with some inconvenience?
@@andrewzhang4054 It was hard at first but luckily, I adjusted quite well. Thanks for asking 😊
Great vLog Dear I'm also in CHINA Great work keep it up 👍🏻🇨🇳🇵🇰

@周小敏 谢谢你🥰
Were you a UChicago student? I think I recognized some of the books in your box from the Core 😝
Nah…those are books for fun🙈
@@tapiocapress Awesome! Greetings from Chicago :)
i love your videos !!
thank you💕
AHH i live in Beijinggg!!!!!
yay! How are you liking it?
@@tapiocapress HAHA i like it a lot! I basically grew up here, but the saddest thing is just watching the sand storms take over once in a while :(
@@racheln1675 ahhhhhhhh yes! The second time the sand storm hit this year it made me really sad...I thought I was super weird for feeling sad over a sand storm🙈Now I feel totally validated haha!
can you do more career video about how u got the tech project manager job? since that's what I"m studying too and I fee like u need experience to get that manager level job also i love ur videos!
Hi Mary! Yes I'm planing on doing a career video soon. In my case a recruiter reached out to me. Coming from a consulting background helped, but I think getting a particular job is really more about how you position yourself with resume, interviews etc. All the best!
@@tapiocapress oh thanks! I'm studying information science and technology with business focus but I want to explore more business side and do consulting and end up with a job similar to urs!:3 and I would love to go work in beijing as well
@@marybrown348 Gotcha...I did a very similar degree:) Good luck, and I hope to see you in Beijing one day!
Evelyn, something intangible about you, inspiring, so lovable, feeling included on your exciting journey through life, discovering joy and disappointment. I can't wait for the next page, chapter, what happens to Evelyn next? is she ok, what hidden skill is she going devulg, the elaborate adventure unfolds! How am I so caught up, I worry, I laugh, you're the best! Thank you so much for sharing.
😭 I don’t know what to say...there’s really nothing special about me, but I’m so glad you enjoyed the journey with me! Thank you for being a part of the adventure...
@@tapiocapress more things special than you know, humility for one, maybe nobody told you that you're brilliant, im sure you heard hilarious, but endlessly creative, resilient, inspiring, I can go on but then everyone will just be questioning why, well let's just say life takes things from you and you realise it is important to say things that are deserved and live internationally. oh and you always leave me feeling happy but that one i can't explain but guessing as you cross 1k subs im not unique.
Evelyn! are you alive and well? our lives are just ordinary without your exciting stories 😔
@@gregorybown just uploaded new video✨
i was thinking about getting a job in china but i wont do that freshly out of college
Always a great experience to try out a new work culture😃
I’m scared if I go to China they won’t let me leave
Hey! It seems like what’s worrying people the most at the moment is not being trapped inside China, but not being able to get in because of visa restrictions. Highly recommend asking a friend who’s currently in China to learn more about what living in China is like if that’s an option you are willing to explore:)
Don’t be stupid then you’ll be okay.
YASSS
Congrats! How was the job hunting process like for you? Would you say there was a stigma for foreign passport holders to get a job? (Not sure if you have a chinese or us passport) It's my dream to work in china one day!
Hey! I got a bit of good luck because a recruiter reached out to me, and the recruiting process took about two months. I have a Chinese passport but I've seem quite a few foreign passport holders at my company - I'm sure your dream will come true soon!
@@tapiocapress Thanks! Good luck on your new adventure in China!
Nice video!!
Thank you👻
I don't think you mentioned where you are moving from. I know you mentioned Chicago but when you were getting dropped off to the train, it definitely wasn't Chicago.
Hi! No it def wasn’t Chicago😝 I moved to Beijing from my hometown in China. I’ve been trapped there for the past year because of COVID...if you are interested in that part of story there’s a bit of an explanation in the 2020 in a nutshell video. Sorry I keep forgetting not everyone has all the context...
@@tapiocapress Where is your hometown in China?

hi, would you pls tell us how you learnt such a great english? : )
hiii haha thank you...I really just watched a lot of TV shows over the years😝
@@tapiocapress great!since when?
@@00English probably 2010? Wow I it’s been a while🙊

Are you Chinese? Congrats anyway...
Hahaha I bet you're regretting now with the airpollution and sandstorm.
😞definitely not enjoying the sand storm
I have the most stupid question ever I guess, excuse my ignorance on this theme, but I thought youtube could not be used in China? Help ahah
Not a stupid question at all! Haha I use a VPN service - such a life changer...I spent a month in China without VPN and it almost drove me crazy🙈 but thank god VPNs exist🙏🏼
@@tapiocapress oh right, I hadn't thought about that! Good luck with the new place and job!! 😘🎉
