  • In this review of Georgian artist's brushes I try out their oil painting range. Also a shown are brushwork techniques. If you like to paint in a loose impressionist style these brushes will help too. How do these paint brushes perform?

Those are surprisingly good brushes. I love them and use along Bravura range from R&Co. They last long, if user takes care for them. Nice video!

Hi Malcolm, thank you for the info on brushes. I'm new to oil painting and I'm really keen to try this impressionist style you demonstrated. I have two questions please. One, what medium did you use in the beginning to tone the canvas? Two, this may be a bit random but how do you store all your oil studies (be it paper or canvas boards) since they take quite a while to dry? Thank you.

Thank you - I use a medium like Zest-It or linseed oil/white spirits to soften the paint for the initial drawing or toning. From that point on though, no mediums are used. The paint out of the tube must be buttery and ready to use or change your brand. I store paintings in a cupboard like the one you see behind me in my latest videos. Lots of dividers inside and lean the paintings in there to dry slowly.
