The Andes mountains in Ecuador are attempting to kick our butts, but we're bound and determined to see it all! This is an adventure chock full of nature's eye candy. Strap on your hiking boots, put on your snow gear and join us! The landscapes are amazing, the altitude is way up there and alpacas are super cute! We hope you enjoy this adventure as much as we did.

**For the HD Watchers out there, you may notice this video is in 720p. Thanks for the views. Reminds me of hiking parts of the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina and looking down in the valleys and on top of the clouds. Also, visiting the volcano reminds me of the time I was Station in Iceland and the volcano on the island of Vestmannaeyjar erupted and I was part of a mission of mercy to save the hospital and house from collapsing. Ash was raining down on us like snow.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. In 2012 my wife and I did a motorcycle tour of Ecuador. We live at 6,200 feet in Colorado and have spent a lot of time leading climbs here as well as ski patrol and mountain rescue. I'm impressed with how well you guys handled the altitude. There is more oxygen at the Equator for the same altitude than in more northern or southern latitudes, but the Ecuador volcanos are serious climbs. Get a guide. We did. I understand that Colombia is safer now than in 2012, but my rule during our trip was never to go within 100 kilometers of the Colombian border. A week after we finished a couple English women were kidnapped by Las FARC about 50 km on the Ecuador side of the border, so we were happy with the 100 km rule. Ecuador is an absolutely gorgeous country and we loved the people and culture. The French may have vichyssoise, but the Ecuadorians have locro from the homeland of the potato. Try it, fantastic. You can go from the Pacific to the Andes and down into the Amazon basin in just a couple days, but don't do it. Allow plenty of time to enjoy all the various environments. In the Andes we found some villages where I needed a Spanish / Quichua (Ecuadorian dialect of Quechua) translator because most of the people don't speak Spanish. We put Ecuador near the top of our favorite countries to visit.

I'm with Allen Jones - BEST VIDEO EVER! Brought back memories, many years ago, I backpacked SA and Ecuador was/is my favorite.
We were blown away by Ecuador, sadly we only got to see a small portion in the northern half of the country.
i have watched so many travel vlogs on youtube - this one had such a deep meaning for me because in 1979 ( aged 26 ) i camped just below the glacier line on Cotopaxi - so much has changed in terms of infrastructure - there wasn't a visitor center or any guest houses - in fact there wasn't anything except the stunning peak, thank you so much for bringing back wonderful memories guys, best wishes to all of you

I used to wonder that too and actually started to analyze it lol I realized that some people are downvoting for the weirdest reasons, sometimes just due to a language barrier. In this particular case, it might be that: They don't like Ecuador, they don't like hiking, they don't like volcanos, they don't like anything not having to do with the boat and water, there was nothing salacious, the girls were fully clothed, or they just don't like LIKING anything. lol *shrug*
LOL....then they should just leave and watch cat videos or something....cause these guys are awesome.

Our cousin Theo made it all the way to the top with his climbing team in the 70's. Everything was less developed back then. He also climbed 9 other peaks in South America, all to get certifications. He lives in the Pacific Northwest and flies helicopters for rescue missions for a living.

9:03 reminds me of when I was in Carrara Italy and we went up the mountain to see the supposed "white city of marble." We kept going up and up, way past the observation locations, and all we ever saw were clouds and trucks bringing the quarried marble down. We took pictures to show the "white city of clouds." But the time we got back to my cousin's house all the photos of the clouds had mysteriously vanished from my camera. Spooky stuff!

Awesome video! You two are such an inspiration! You made my wife and I realize that it is possible to follow our dreams and travel full time in an rv at a young age. We have been living in our Airstream now full time for the past month still working our regular jobs. We will be officially leaving our “normal” life behind in October to travel and find out what it’s all about! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!

Excellent video for 720p. Stick w/ it as it works and allows for more updates along the way. Only suggestion is that you include some type of date reference or time period for the graphics. I only know that this is around mid FEB 18, because the last posting was around Carnival. Thanks and hope you have fair winds and following seas on your continued travels.

We also visited a crater there on our way to the wonderful Otovalo Market. So many of us are enjoying the great ride with you ever since seeing you in Alaska at McCarthy and the glacier hike there.
