Darn such a nostalgic remembrance back before G17 - G25 storyline, the grandmaster talents, & new skills exist when fighting golem was a challenge to deal with. Having to learn how to fish, level up exploration exp, run shadow mission, raft, hot air balloon, etc.
Too bad we haven't heard this bgm since chapter 1.
It was...quite a ride back then.

Lol I still remember when killing a bear was actually a challenge.
Even though I don't play Mabi anymore,the music and the game itself....I can't say I've EVER played another MMO like it. >_
I miss the original game when it was simple dungeon exploring in a party. This game had some magic to it. Who knows what will happen from now. If there isn't another mmo like Mabi in the future then I'm glad I had a chance to play it. Great osts, and memorable too.
Jackboy019 An interesting Dungeon Revamp took place this week in Mabi NA,btw.
I used to play it, was a long time player too, but it just became event central instead of the story. Sometimes i think they need to make their event stories permanent instead of temporary
Xanmoas They made a permanent area with past event stuff recently.
It was a load of fun being back in Mabi, buuut yeah...

It's a bit embarressing to admit, but I feel like Mabinogi is somehow a perfect example of some part of me even I myself don't fully grasp yet.
I've played maybe. . . a few hundred hours of the game, since summer 2009. My first time playing the game is still somewhat vivid in my memory, as it was the day I was signing up for Highschool. What lovely, awkward times.
I played this game, for those few hundred hours--mostly by myself. Me, and my pets going on various journey's with no real destination in mind. What's this? What's that over there? Why are these scary looking Ogre's and Skeletons and Knights on this road? What? There was a Dungeon there? I wonder if I still have the recording of when I met Neied in uh. . . Gairech? No. . . Abb Neagh! I was just casually flying around on my bird, when this giant HORROR GAME ESQUE LOOKING Sea Monster pops into reality infront of me, I still get chills just thinking about it.
I've spent maybe 100 ~ 200$ on the game. Buying the occasional pet or character card that caught my eye, and continuing those solo journey's of mine. I made a few friends, but something about this game really just grabbed me, and pulled me into its world. I'm normally not mindful when talking to other people on MMO's and such, but on Mabinogi I was deathly afraid of it.
Despite all of my journey's, despite all of the things I paid for, earned with gold--I would always feel inferior to every other player in existence. Oh, that guy over there has a bunch of giant swords flying over his head, that person just turned into some kind of demon--I've played for x amount of hours and got nothing done.
Do I regret the time I invested?. . . Hmm. No. Very few games grab hold of my hands and don't let go. If I could go back and change one thing, it would be actually trying to be social. Asking others for help, finally finishing one of the games many storylines. (I only ever got far into G1 , and G9? 11 ??? Whatever G Alchemist / Fallons summons was)
I believe they changed the story progression now, but back when I first started you had to have other players to do certain parts of G1, which was quite the daunting task for the timid 13 year old me.
even tho it's been 2 years it was such a beautiful comment and mabinogi is such a beautiful game

So sad you felt set upon by the ideals... I specifically fashioned my character to be ideal for others after that lesson myself...
Alas, I also spent WAY to much time absorbed in mabi but eventually had to break the curse.

Nothing to be ashamed of. I had a lot of time in this game, and I've come a bit closer to understanding why the world was so enthralling to my young self. And I can happily say it wasn't just because I was young and impressionable. There was genuine story and lore to these beautiful locations, songs, and characters. While that luster is far from as radiant as it once was with the new plot, I'm content enough to understand why this game was so beloved to me.
