- This week, we interview Darren Mullan & Constantine Delo, the founders of arguably the hottest tribute band today on UA-cam, and the wider social media space - The Hindley Street Country Club. Con and Darren will share their story of the birth of HSCC in 2017 and the journey to 2020 building an audience totalling more than 20 Million views. This weekly collaboration showcases the very best talent of world-class musicians and vocalists based in South Australia, producing quality interpretations of classic songs recorded live from start to finish.

Agree.Darren left HSCC because Con did the dirty on him.He chased Darren for money claiming that Darren owed him money for the royalties to certain songs.Long story short,Con took Darren to court over it and Darren won.Con even threatened Darren that if he didn't get his share of what he thought he was owed then Darren could loose his home.Basically Con would try to force Darren to sell his home so he could have this money.Luckily the judge found in favour of Darren and he didn't have to pay Con.
This caused Con and Darren to fall out,and so Darren left the band.

When a guest was talking about schoolgirls dressed up to come and see Garry his finger went up to his mouth to say shhhh. Darren's gone. The conspiracy theory is that he was forced out by Con. What a tragedy. The quality of their output is no longer the same. No disrespect to the new mixer Dave Ross, but Darren's production was magical. Haven't seen Andy Seymour, Tzan Niko, Stefan Hauk and James Muller in a while either. Have they also left? Oh well, at least we have the library of their earlier stuff. Nothing good lasts forever...

The quality is the same or even better! The newer videos are better than the old ones. It's just a matter of perception or opinion. It doesn't matter who did what, it's still an awesome group!
Watching Con deflate HSCC with shitty song selection and piss poor production is sinful. Con is the Leader Of The Bland.
Con had to leave Darwin as he ripped off local musicians... fact!! I did a gig for him at the casino once for the Darwin Cup. Up in the high rollers room we only got paid 200 each but found out after the gig he got over 1k and did nothing for the gig the fact was the vocalist i was working with had the gig already but went down 'the path' of Con Delo's con and sweet talking. I'm not bitter as it taught me a valuable lesson. Don't always trust what people say... trust what they do, words are cheap.
Over promise.. under deliver is Con's style honestly... someone ran him over on Mitchell Street as well a musician who got frustrated as he had been waiting for months to be paid by Con. He def. got his karma in that respect, it was all over the local news too, I remember it well around 10 years ago or so

Yes,, you have a brilliant sound, so much like the tracks you cover, so accurate and tight. The best cover band without doubt, there is some magic there and something very special. Can listen to these at anytime. Oh and Darren out of the band has changed the sound please get him back!
Con is a bass player and gets the parts together for the songs.
Darren is an incredible singer, plays keys, records, edits and a mixing expert. Love watching him.

@@susand , I was not aware that even a statement was made. I did see a few acknowledgments video comments that Darren was no longer with HSCC, but that was it. Do you have more info? Can I ask why you think Darren was not 'allowed' to say anything? I just thought he was being coy, or discrete. All respect to Dave Ross, but they truly dont sound the same now. And I had picked Darren out early on, with his playfully theatrical delivery, as my favorite band member....sad :/
Compared to lots of you I'm a relatively new fan. Probably came across the band maybe four months ago. The very first song that they did after Darren left, I listened to while driving. And I was just scratching my head a little trying to figure out what it was about the song that was off. Because it was in the most unmistakable way. Honestly would never have started following this group if I had heard that song first. They are such an unbelievably gifted ensemble but there's something that tells me that if you could have lost any member of the group that would do the most damage it would have been Darren. Gosh, what a shame for all sorts of reasons. Has to be hard on everyone.
Why did Darren leave the group?
Its a pity Darren, who had been there from Day 1 has since left the Band.

For whatever reasons, its rather unfortunate and quite sad.
Found HSCC during the pandemic last year 2020.
Also found REO Brothers from Philipines (typhoon survivors) who does great Beatles Covers, and Eagles amongst others.
And I have just discovered another brilliant Covers Band, all the way from Moscow Russia, strangely also led by the Bassist, Leonid & Friends. They mainly do "Chicago" songs and EWF, almost Note for note, every Nuances transcribed and replicated.
Somebody has to explain what really happened. Maybe when the dust settles.
From the Netherlands: I am a big fan of HSCC, but really don't understand (listening the interview) why they are not open about what happens that Darren left the band. Ego?

These guys have brought so much joy to me. I live in the USA in Jersey. They had me on the first video I saw. They are my fav group and I’ve told all the people I know and they are now hooked as well. I pray they keep doing these videos, and as I always say Nikki is my fav. Love everyone at HSCC.

Now I know, you, Darren is the heart of the high-quality pristine music of HSCC. High regards to your talent in mixing HSCC music. CD is right. You deserve to have a residency in Las Vegas 5 days a week.
HSCC has done something very special to justify my stance that the 80's was and will always be an era of great music.
They are certainly putting a modern take on the 80s classics in the most respectful way!
You can see a hint of separation from the body language. Darren is allot more happier where as Con looks a little agitated, and folder arms kinda tell allot.
Con sees it as a business, and Darren looks like he loves the journey...again body language is everything.
That very well may be true, but simply being guys who just want to have fun and play music is not a good way to get discovered and build a brand. Performing songs that only the minority cares about coupled with sloppy (one take) playing, recording, and low visual quality is a good way to stay in the rough. These guys and girls are not putting up a garage band with all the sound being recorded from an iPhone. They put serious planning, time, and effort to produce studio album results. Sorry, before I'd do something like that, I'd want business return on that too. Also everyone who performs with them has HSCC on their resume which is now a symbol of quality, thanks to that greedy business man who wants to do more than just have fun and play music.
@@OldsXCool It's about finding a balance between those music and business components and I don't imagine either of them wants to completely forsake one for other. I reckon their aspirational differences probably pale in comparison to the simple clash of their personalities. In many cases finding ways to compromise can overcome these sort of obstacles but in this particular case it does seem apparent that one of the two might struggle with that approach.
@@nicknelson9450 I'd very much agree with that. I'd imagine that is what Darren and Con butted heads about most of the time. Darren's channel SingitLive has a more relaxed feel to it though it is still very professional and very well recorded. When he left HSCC there seems to have been a really weird balance shift. I say weird because Con is the one who really wanted to do songs that are very well known and that are trending while Darren seems to just want to play from the heart. However HSCC seems to be doing lesser known songs now and Darren just covered "Time of my Life" by the Doobie Brothers which has to be one of the most sure thing songs to ever cover if you're looking for fans. He and his group did an amazing job. Consequently it seems that HSCC has lost a bit of that perfect balance. They're by no means bad, but I think that have better songs to cover, and I'd love it if they'd go back to using Kat Jade and Jordan Lennon more often. Plus I don't know where Danny Lopresto went! He was so incredible. I also wish that Sarah Lloyde and Nikki Kosmider would make a return.
@@OldsXCool Believe me (Darren) my business acumen and ability to research, deliver and market a musical product online is second only to a few. Con didn't have a social media account when we started HSCC (I 'forced' him to get on facebook so I could tag him). As for song choice, Con likes songs with a funky bass line I like songs that chart and resonate with our audience (details about our fans is in the youtube data....age, sex, location, device etc). Sing It Live seems like we're relaxed and having fun cause we are. It's hard work and quite a challenge but we love the group pressure. It's quite a rush. This 'live studio recording with wireless in ear monitoring' technique is something I mastered quickly in order to produce HSCC content and they continue to use my template (cause it's the only way...right?). We're 2 different entities now. HSCC a touring cabaret cover band and Sing It Live an online variety show (soon to add original songs customized according to our audience data and written by our crew). My focus is platforming my crew and looking after them in any way I can. Con and I disagreed about how the business would be run and what HSCC was building to be. He does it his way and I do it mine. I encourage subscribing to both for twice the weekly entertainment 👊🏼

My Dad who is a musician says the HSCC are the Tightest Right in the Pocket band he has ever heard. He should know after playing for more than 60 years!

I love the band, but the only thing that spoils it for me is, the bassist,he comes across as a really arrogant person. On every song he has to be at the front of the line up.it spoils the balance of the performance. Go where a bass player belongs, at the back with the drums. I speak as a bass player myself,just lower the ego and take a little step back.good luck guys.

You know..to call HSCC a "Cover Band" is a bit like calling The Sydney, Boston or London Symphony Orchestras, "Cover Bands"! You are so, so much more than a group of copy-cats - and prove it every Friday. Indeed, I think the last time I awaited a new music release with so much excitement and anticipation was when four mop-top Liverpool lads were taking the popular music world by storm! Fair dinkum. Thank you to everyone who is a member of the HSCC, and especially Darren & Con for the pleasures of your combined talents. (I'm sad that, due to the ever-growing and perfectly understandable demands on your time, I probably won't now be able to receive a personal reply to this from either of you gentlemen. Sarah and Kat are great singers. (Plus the other girls, I just don't know all the names) That is the future. People are going to bang down the doors to sing with HSCC. The band is top knotch, so no problems with quality of musicians. It's not only Covid, it is the people on UA-cam like me that look for the performances and the talent.

I stumbled upon HSCC on UA-cam 2 weeks ago, and I was hooked on the brilliant talent immediately. Con and Darren are indelible creative musical ingredient.
The young enthusiasm of these 2 men are driven by bouncing ideas off each other.
Thankyou for adding happiness to our lives regardless of where we live in this world. Adelaide is extremely fortunate to have these wonderful men and women collaborating there heart felt brilliance and emotions at a time when this entire world is dark and bleek. Thank God HSCC is Australian talent and content. South Australia is almost considered the outback desert, yet I can tell you, yours hearts are not desolate, your the Oasis of musical survival, we are truly blessed to have you in our inexistence of today.

I remember Beeb recommending the video clip - saying 'These guys are cool'. That is how I 'discovered the band. John Waite was another who recommended his fans have a listen to HSCC do one of his tracks. These guys are world class - and they are from Adelaide! They show it can be done. A pity Covid came along and spoiled the plans for this year.

I think of Steely Dan, (Not the real One.) as a recording group, in their style of revolving musicians
in their unique quest for their inner vision, which is not unlike Con & Darren. Their energy is infectious

I can across The Hindley Street Country Club in You tube for the cover of "Car Wash" and and I was really impresses how good and original this sounded but when I checked their other cover I was just blown away on how good they are. They are just the best on how they sing and play the covers to almost the same level as the original songs.

After the split the quality of the performance has suffered miserably. The musicians left and the most important ingredient was left behind.... Darren's genius mixing. The guy mixing now needs to be flogged. It's flat and sucks.

I've watched every one of their videos and Darren even has videos of how he engineers and mixes the tracks later. They do the songs live with each musician tracked separately and mixed and enhanced later.
great interview - so important to highlight the talents of these two amazing people - we here in Adelaide are proud of our SA muso's, and they highlight some of these talented people.
This band is the truth. The bass player is extremely badass. The way he rocks the bass is a sight and a half
